Ellen Kenny Erdmann

South Burlington - Ellen Kenny Erdmann, 62, a longtime resident of South Burlington, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 28, 2021.

She was born at the University of Vermont Medical Center and initially lived in the North End of Burlington. She and her family moved to Laurel Hill and their house quickly became the neighborhood hangout. Always active, she was involved in gymnastics, track, and drama.

She met the love of her life at South Burlington High School though she and Bruce did not date at that time. After graduating together in 1977, they parted ways only to reconnect in Boston when she attended LaSalle University. She received with an associate's degree from LaSalle as well as a bachelor's degree in theatre and drama from Colorado State University.

She and Bruce married in 1986 and moved to San Jose, California. She immersed herself in the theatre, acting and singing in a number of local productions.

They returned to South Burlington in 1991 to be close to her beloved family and raise their children. An active volunteer, she helped direct theatre productions at Orchard School.

She was very proud of her children and was quick to talk about their many successes and accomplishments. She loved spending time with her dogs, enjoying her beautiful home with family and friends.

Ellen is survived by her husband of 35 years, Bruce, her three children, Devin, Joe, and Kelly, her siblings and their spouses, Jim and Marie Kenny, Peter and Jovita Kenny, and Sara and Peter Hunt. She was also loved by her many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Jim and Lois Kenny.

Ellen was very generous with her time and resources. Each day she sought out ways to help people, whether it was thoughtful gifts or homemade meals.

Visiting hours will take place on Thursday July 1, 2021 from 5:00 until 7:00 pm at the Ready Funeral Home South Chapel 261 Shelburne Rd in Burlington.
