Nestled in a prime location, Meliá Punta Cana Beach Wellness Inclusive is an adults-only oasis celebrated for its impeccable service and inviting atmosphere. While opinions on the value of the 'Level' upgrade are mixed, many guests commend the luxurious amenities, including a lauded spa, diverse dining options, and a tranquil beach, though some suggest enhancements in entertainment. The hotel's ambiance strikes a balance between peaceful retreat and spirited festivities, with silent discos and music. Cleanliness is a high priority, with well-kept rooms and grounds, despite occasional discrepancies. Room experiences do vary, highlighting the importance of ongoing attention to detail.

In a nutshell - the best overall resort experience I've ever had! Collectively, our group of 6 unanimously agreed. AND WE WERE NOT LEVEL. Just regular guests. So many reviews on this site are from Level guests so we really had no idea before we arrived of the non Level experience. As we were there for two weeks (Apr 1-15), I'll start with the most important reason the resort is so wonderful - the staff! To start our day, my friend and I went to the Balance Bar every morning for coffee/tea/smoothies and a few little pastries. YANELITZA, the barista there was amazing and always happy to see us!!! I enjoyed americanos with the odd cappucino every now and then and my friend, Yvette, had English Breakfast tea. We also enjoyed the smoothies from time to time which were fresh and fabulous as well as some of the specialty teas made daily. Now that I'm home, I'm wondering how I can survive each morning without that joyous start to the day where we sat in a beautiful airy breezeway with a colourful companion - the resident peacock - who would stop by to visit from time to time. A huge shout out to YANELITZA, our morning saviour who was some days accompanied by Adriana who was also lovely. To note, on the day we left, Yanelitza met us with a surprise delivery of our smoothies to the lobby!
After the Balance Bar, we headed back to our room to get ready to hit the glorious beach. Our rooms were so very close to the lobby in building 19 (ours was 1916 - 2nd floor room overlooking the main thoroughfare to and from the beach and lush landscaping including a little lagoon with pink flamingos and other wildlife). We loved the location as at night, all the entertainment took place there and the evening buffet was a one minute walk. The peacock mentioned earlier took up residence in a tree near the room so we said hello along the way. The beach and pool were a short trolley ride away. They ran continuously and the drivers were always friendly and helpful. If we didn't want to wait, we walked - and the drivers would stop to ask when passing if we wanted a ride.
Back to the room, we had everything we needed. Comfortable beds and pillows, a well stocked mini fridge and a sweet, young cleaner who took great care of us. Never any shortage of towels or toilet paper - the basics for sure but these are things we have had to fight to get at many other resorts. Beach towels were never an issue and if your towel went missing, the helpful staff at the front desk went out of their way to ease your mind and provide a new card. Customer relations at the resort were also amazing - Antonio and Armondo and several others truly went above and beyond to ensure we had the best guest experience. My friend will elaborate in her review on her interactions with both of these gentleman and others as she was their direct point of contact.
The beach was our main retreat throughout the days and the pool from 5-7 pm was a great respite for our five o'clock Cosmo. Although there was some seaweed, it never hampered our ability to swim. The men on the beach worked tirelessly in the hot sun to clean it and we were in awe by their efforts. If you can, please show them some appreciation - they have very little. Beach chairs were never hard to find but a hut was more difficult...by noon, we could usually nab one but some days were harder and later than others. Activities at the beach and pool were many and varied such as mud cleansing, Pilates, yoga, dance lessons, spin bikes in the pool, aquafit, painting, paddle fit you name it! More about the animation team below...much more!
As for the food quality/quantity, everywhere and anywhere we ate was divine. We all agreed, the best of any experience we have had. The breakfast and lunch buffets at the beach, the food truck by the pool bar, the dinner buffet by the lobby and all the restaurants we tried (we did the Vietnamese, the International, the Mediterranean, Quimera (thanks to Antonio/Armondo) and the Hacienda. We loved each and every one. We could have eaten at a few more a la cartes given we were there for two weeks but the buffet was soooooo good, we didn't bother. The pasta chef at the nighttime buffet deserves a special shoutout...he was quite funny and went out of his way to make a great pasta.
LAST BUT NOT LEAST IS THE FANTASTIC ANIMATION TEAM - a VERY, VERY SPECIAL SHOUTOUT to our great friends JAVIER (my future son-in-law lol) AND CLAUDIO who were just the best humans (NOT TO MENTION DANCERS) and who even organized a surprise birthday party for our friend, Theresa. It took place in the "Zen" room (as we labelled it) in the main lobby. They spear headed the event with one of the lobby waitresses, "Queen Moon" (Rena) independently. The management was on board and also there to greet us after dinner with Claudio, Javier, Rena, Ningel and Coca Cola (aka) with champagne and cake and the best rendition of happy birthday. Javier and Claudio even purchased gifts for our friend from the hotel shop. She was in tears...and we could not believe how they had gone out of their way to decorate and organize the event. These people deserve soooo much credit. In the daytime, this team also led many of the pool and beach events. They work so hard but always took the time to talk and hang out. Fun, smart, respectful, talented and professional. They truly made our trip so memorable and are the main reason we'd definitely return. The animation team was led by their tireless manager, Pablo, who was anywhere and everywhere - very engaged and respected by his team - the quality of the entertainment he procured was stellar from top quality musicians to singers to shows. He and the animation team had the lobby jamming and dancing through the night. Special mention was the Silent Party which was a first for us and probably our favourite event besides the Walk Around the Moon event - something we hadn't heard of before. So fun. We danced pretty much every night away in the lobby. Special shoutout to the night bar gents who were superb - the waitresses - RENA AND MODESTO, and others who we came to know and love. These lobby teams were simply amazing during the entire two weeks.
Also, not to forget JOSE at the beach bar who was the BEST. He hustled day in and day out and stood out for sure. Finally, our waitress in the lunch buffet who was in the corner near the grill and bar. Her name escapes me right now but my friend Yvette will make mention in her review.
Do not hesitate to book this resort. the demographic was young to old. It truly fits the bill as a wellness resort but so very fun at the same time - we came back rested and rejuvenated (although we made the most of each and every day and night...)!
A few final points: The grounds are spectacular in and of themselves. We felt very safe - security team did a great job, The maintenance and gardening teams were superb - always at work cleaning and pruning and so very friendly. Overall, we felt very welcomed and pampered. I can't say enough. We cannot wait to return.

We hope to see you again next year! THANK YOU ALL.
Love from the Halifax, Nova Scotia gals:
Lynn, Yvette, Theresa, Heidi, Carol Ann and Gwen

We travel 3-4 times a year mostly to Adults Only resorts or Dominican Republic and Mexico, and are repeat visitors to several hotels, but for our 30th year wedding anniversary we decided to make a change an opted for The Level at Melia Punta Cana.

The Melia Punta Cana (adults) and it's sister resort Melia Caribe (family) are located in beautiful and very well kept grounds, and you'll see many local birds amidst is many ponds, like flamingos.

The Level section is located closest to the beach where you are greeted at the Level section in the Quimera building, second of 3 level, where you can also get a little snack 24hr. The first floor is the Quimera restaurant for a la carte breakfast/lunch/dinner. The third level is the Roof top bar. The Level section is shared with the Melia Punta Cana adults only pool.

A few disappointments:
The Level only areas are very small, (tiny pool, small restaurant (Quimera) with very plain decoration. Only some of the rooms have been renovated, and best buildings are not yet fully renovated.
I found that at first that the staff were too serious going about their work, but after a few days we finally got them smiling.
Food was a big let down. Quimera 'a la carte' restaurant menu is always the same. Rumba is the buffet by the beach and is very small for a resort this size. Not much variety and food is spread out over a large area.
There are only 2 adults only 'a la carte' restaurants (not including Quimera that is Level only). The Casa Nostra, which is the italian restaurant, and the Muoi that is the Asian restaurant, all other restaurants are located in the Family section.
If you like to bring your own wine, like we sometimes do to celebrate a special occasion, some of the restaurants (Casa Nostra) actually asked us a $25. US dollars to open the bottle. FYI. It was open no charge the following day at the Quimera restaurant.

Best of all:
Now, and this is the best part of this whole package, is your very own concierge, who will take care of everything for you, issues in the room, reservations, driving you around. I don't know about the other concierge, but Arjenis was just amazing! he could be reached by text all the time by an app (WhatsApp) that was set up when we arrived. Always happy to help! Thank you again Arjenis! We miss you already!
Special Baby Shark hello to our favorite, and best waiter Joiron at the Roof Top Bar. You have to drink is signature drink, the 'Amara del cocodilo'! Excellent!
Special thanks to Francisco (Quimera), Sofia (bars), Vicente (pool) and the staff on the Level beach who were always there if you needed something to drink.
No problem getting a chair or shade on the beach or around the pool. There was some seaweed in the ocean (not the Sargasse one!), but the beach was cleaned every day.

Gracias y Adios a todos!

We stayed here at the Level adults only. 1) our butlers Jorge and Johnny were perfect! Couldn’t have been more helpful. 2) rooms we comfortable, we asked for feather pillows and they were delivered promptly. 3) this place is huge and well maintained, the butlers will come and get you if you don’t want to walk and there are shuttles to take you back and forth, also bikes are readily available. 4) there are about a dozen restaurants, all pretty good (not great), but a lot of variety (we’ve been here 10 days) 5) the level beach is beautiful and towels are handy, lounge chairs umbrellas and cabanas are comfortable, but you do have to get out there and stick a magazine and towel to save for premium spots. There are also several pools. All nice. Haven’t visited the ones with kids. 6) the spa is very nice, good range of services, and another beautiful pool. Lots of fitness activities SUP yoga (stand up paddle board ) water aerobics and other zen activities.
7) they have shows every night, not Vegas but fun, like a Michael Jackson review etc, and some acrobatics like AGT.
8) check in out easy as can be- they take you to a special level lounge, you get snacks a drink and they bring you all your paperwork and keys.
9) casino is small but we had a little fun there too!
10) all in all a great value and fantastic weather. Such a good value that I was worried before we got here, we’ve stayed at Casa de Campo several times and Excellence, and Punta Cana resort. which have a higher price point, I think the food is better here than Excellence. And on par with Casa and Punta Cana resort.
11) my only complaint would be some construction they were doing on walkways and sprinkler system, but the sensors is so large you can get away from it.

This hotel was a complete disappointment for me. I am going to list all the reasons one by one. I travel around the world every year and I have been to such places as Maldives, Turkey, Spain, Greece, The U.S. and a lot of others so I have good experience in hotels.

1. The staff is the most unprofessional and uneducated staff I have ever seen in my life. They treat you as a garbage, waiters always forget what you asked to bring and you have to remind them about your order every time. By the way, if you dont speak spanish be ready to have huge problems. The staff here speak ZERO english, they dont even know the difference between pork and beef (which is a huge problem for our fellow muslim friends). It’s okay to not speak english, but if you are a waiter at an international resort you have to at least try to understand what the guest has ordered. Instead, they just bring you cola instead of coffee.

2. In the first day when we were checking in I asked at the reception if the Sauna and Steam facilities are free, the staff at the reception told me that they are free of charge only for those who are using chargeable facilities of SPA such as massage and etc. I was a bit disappointed but not that much. However, on the last day of my stay here I found out that Sauna Steam facilities are actually free for everyone. This was really frustrating as I really love Sauna.

3. Nextly, be ready that your bed linens and towels probably wont be changed for the whole of your stay. At this hotel, you have to leave a special card on your bed to make housekeeping change your bed linens. I have been leaving that card for the whole of my stay, but my bed linens were changed only once on the last day of my stay when I actually called the reception and argued with them about this issue. Furthermore, couple of times housekeeping forgot to leave us new towels and new shampoos and shower gels.

4. Finally, the internet connection is incredibly slow. I wasn’t able to watch a single video on youtube not to mention that the wifi works only in some parts of the resort. For example, it completely turns off once you go out from your room until you reach one of the restaurants or main lobby.

All this might be excusable, but not for a “5 STAR” Resort.
All of the mentioned above might seem to be not a great deal, however when a lot of small things add up to each other it makes a difference. Especially when you travel 22 hours from your homecountry to get here for a Christmas Vacation with your family. My stay at this hotel was a total disappointment.

Dear Alizhan01, First of all we would like to thank you for your honest feedback and that you took your time to show us the opportunity areas, which we have to approach, as we have always considered that the comments received  by our customers are useful for the purpose of continuous improvement. However, please accept our apologies for the situations you experienced with the service provided by our staff. We strive to provide an excellent vacation to all our guests, and we are concerned that we have not met your expectations. Our resort has always been known for excellent customer service, and we can assure you that it is not our standard. As well as we regret the difficulties encountered while communicating with our staff members due to language barrier. We would like to mention that we have ongoing courses of English in order for them to improve their skills and be capable to properly communicate with our clients. With relation to the Spa facilities such as the Sauna and so on they are only free of charge for our ''The Level'' guests. We truly regret the misinformation at our front desk. Rest assured that we have shared your remarks with our team at the involved departments, and we will reinforce this aspect on our next training sessions. Regarding the towels and linen, be advised that they get chance every two days or earlier, how described on the card, as well, we are carrying out important enhancements in our housekeeping procedures, so we can exceed expectations, and we will have your input into account. Please allow us to comment that we are working to improve the signal in areas such as the beach and main pool, in order to cover our entire property. We sincerely hope to have the opportunity of welcoming you back, in order to mitigate your current perception of our resort. Please feel free to contact us directly, so we can take care of any details in advance, and ensure you have a totally great vacation. Sincerely, Guest Service Center Management

The nicest part of the entire trip was the lobby of the hotel and the lighting and design of the restaurants. They have a great team for design.

Food + service at every restaurant was sub par. The room was dated and furniture needs to be replaced.
Buffet food had no flavor, servers were not attentive and I had to get up to refill my water and coffee in the morning.

Rumba is by far the worst buffet. Would not eat there if it was free.
I ate at three restaurants on the property included for dinner service (Muoi, Casa Nostra, La Hacienda), each one was worse than the other. After being seated it took over 30 minutes to get water and a glass of wine, our waiter was on a sabbatical and missing the entire service.

Stayed for 5 nights, bring walking shoes as you will have to walk a far distance to get to the beach or pools as the "free shuttles" dont want to help or pick you up.

We spent a wonderful and very relaxing week in Melia Beach in the Level part. The resort is for adults only and that is something we appreciated very much - theer is no noise, splash, uncontrolled running etc, as it is in the neighboring Melia Caribe. So if you seek pease and relaxation the Beach is an ideal spot. The Level is a kind of upgrade/ VIP servise including priven check in and check out, separate part in pool and beach area, restaurants (La Quimera), drinks and concierge services. We were assisted by Franklyn Jimenez and we can honestly recommend his services. Everything needed - consider it done. Thank you Franklyn.
The hotel area is very extensive thus the use of golf carts is very helpful, the whole area is very green and clean, you can see the maintenance efforts in various places around the clock. The food is good, although we did not like the a la carte services in La Quimera (it lasts to long, the chice is sometimes a little problematic, especially when you do not eat certain kind of food) and we were not satisfied with Hokkaido - we do not eat seafood, we actually expected more sushi stuff but they are very much sea food oriented; the same problem with New Year Eve dinner in Casa Nostrawhere there was no option for lobster...). Very good drinks in the entire hotel, it is possible to use Melia Caribe restaurants as well, but expect it to be more crowded and noisy.
The room and the buliding are clean and the ladies came twice a day and make sure that we have everything that is needed. The rooms are simple, could be a little more "fancy" but there is nothing to complain about. We had garden view on 1st floor.

3rd visit in 13 months and I have to say that it’s gone downhill pretty fast.

The staff is still outstanding and wonderful, kind and friendly, but the management is so bad that it’s hard to fully enjoy yourself.

Renovated rooms are poorly maintained and most often badly painted, and already worn (see photos) attached.

Restaurants never seem open and the posted times are not respected meaning that you are almost always relegated to buffet style places with all the same choices.

The food quality and selection has badly suffered under the new GM who makes himself scarce and limits the power of his managers to make decisions that will positively impact their lives as they are the ones dealing with irritated customers - something he should try dealing with instead of living in his ivory tower.

Check in is a long, tedious task, made worse by the fact that if an entire party is not staying in the same type of room, you actually need to go to 3 separate check in areas. I am serious here and would have loved to been able to say something positive because again I have great appreciation for the staff.

The grounds are super well maintained and the beach and pools very clean and there are almost always maintenance staff braving the weather and heat cleaning and grooming the grounds. Walking the gardens is a real pleasure and at nighttime the lights make it even more spectacular.

I would have loved to give this place 5 stars - which is why I came back the 3rd time when there is a plethora of choices, but the lousy food, terrible management, disorganized events and a lack of services make this the last stay and if I could give 2.5 I would have.

It’s unfortunate that management simply doesn’t “get it” and turned a lovely place with lovely people into a mediocre place to go.

Dear Hatolim, We thank you for being part of our family. Thank you for choosing us as your vacation destination this time. However, it is our goal to provide comfort and the usual service of the Melia chain to all our guests and we regret if on this occasion for you we did not achieve this goal. The hospitality industry, among others, highly values the comments and feedbakcs received; since they provide us with the most accurate informations regarding the impact of our products in the guests and can help us recognize the areas of opportunity that we should focus on, in order to continue improving and, therefore, offer the experience expected. We sincerelly apprecite the time taken, from your daily activities, to share with us your thoughts and would like to take this opportunity to inform you that they had been already shared with the correspondant departments, with the purpose to create action plans that will ensure that no future client will experience them. We hope truly despite of the mentioned points you spent a pleasant time, enjoyin the attentive services from our committed team to satisfy our guests. We hope that, thanks to the cordial attitude of our team, you will be able to return to our hotel and give us the opportunity to change your impression of our resort. Grounds are stunning , rooms very clean .
They start by trying to sell time share with the promise of free breakfast , spa treatments etc . You will be approached constantly throughout your stay . After a visit the spa ,checking out halfway through Elaine went to serve two American couples who were waiting behind us ,thinking that she had finished went to walkout to be called back to finish the transaction . How rude , maybe not a fan of the English !!
Went to the Italian restaurant , very abrupt service without a smile . Halfway through the dessert we were asked if we wanted coffee , we answered yes please and the table was promptly cleared although hubby had not finished eating . I have never encountered this in 57 years on this earth ! I know they are busy but at least let your customer finish his meal!
Being diabetic hubby is careful to drink Diet Coke but they pool bar staff would not give him Diet Coke only full fat coke . Why is it that you have to constantly tip to get what you’ve already paid for . That is very dangerous game they are playing !!!
The food has a lot to be desired, does not appear to be that fresh and no variety from day to day .The Mexican restaurant food is awful , in the rumba beach restaurant the staff are very arrogant to get a simple cup of tea is an absolute mission . Teapot with no lid , no English teabags , staff very rude in their own language .
Rooms cleaned every day , fridge stocked with water ,however the fridge did not work.warmer than the room itself . Why did the cleaner not get this put right ? Ten days of warm water !!
Guest services asked if we had a good stay , being honest we told him a few of the issues . He did arrange for us to keep our room until we checked out which was a very nice gesture . Unfortunately it could not compensate for the very uncomfortable stay and bad customer we have encountered for the last ten days .
Definatly would not return or recommend !!

We strive to provide an excellent vacation to all our guests, and we are concerned that we have not met your expectations. Our resort has always been known for excellent customer service, and we can assure you that it is not our standard. We sincerelly appreciate the time taken, from your daily activities, to share with us your thoughts and would like to take this opportunity to inform you that they had been already shared with the correspondant departments, with the purpose to create action plans that will ensure that no future client will experience them. We would like to extend our apologies if at a given moment they felt harassed by our Circle concierges. We would like to mention that as an additional service, The Circle counts on Vacation concierges’ collaboration whose main task is assisting and informing all guests about our facilities and the benefits deriving from The Circle membership. They can be certain that the Executives of the Club have been duly informed in order to avoid this situation from reoccurring and uphold the quality standards which distinguish us. We arrived late after a long flight from London. The room was ready but one bedside lamp was missing and there were no hand towels (too late to call house keeping).

We booked a “Premium Room Beachside”, expecting to be somewhere near the beach. We were about 200 metres from the beach, the last of six blocks of apartments consisting of 6 (?) apartments per block. The view from our apartment window looked onto something more akin to a half finished garden landscaping job (see photo), with no possibility of seeing anything of the beach and too far away to hear any waves.

So I am not sure what “Beachside” means in Meliá language.

The Meliá Caribe Beach Resort caters for families whereas the adjoining Meliá Punta Cana Beach Resort is for adults only. If you have no kids definitely go to the restaurants in the Punta Cana Beach Resort (a few mins walk).

The service in the restaurants was varied, the Merkado Restaurant by the beach (breakfast & lunch only) the worst of the lot. Nearly all the male waiters were particularly poor, disinterested, no smile. Slightly better in the adults only restaurants, but not much.

We were tricked into being invited to “The Circle by Meliá”, for a special breakfast, to see their “new and exciting venture” in Punta Cana. It turned out to be a timeshare sales pitch. And no breakfast.

There are three Meliá resorts all virtually next door to each other on Bávaro Beach (plus the timeshare location mentioned above):
The Paradisus Punta Cana Resort
The Meliá Punta Cana Beach Resort
The Meliá Caribe Beach Resort

We’ve stayed in the Paradisus on a previous visit, and eat in the Meliá Punta Cana Beach Resort restaurants on this trip whilst staying in the Melia Caribe Beach Resort, so we have had first hand experienced of all three.

I would rate the Paradisus 5*, the Meliá Punta Cana Beach Resort 4*, and the Meliá Caribe Beach Resort, the subject of this review, 3*.

Dear Kenta818, We are sorry we were unable to meet your expectations. We really appreciate that you took the time to send us your feedback.  Regarding the ''Premium Beachside Room'' please permit us to mention that the rooms are as close as possible to the beach. They are overlooking the gardens or main pool. We would like to apologize if they felt our Vacations Concierges did not provide them information specific enough from the outset and the presentation took longer than expected with the consequent uneasiness this may provoked them. We regret your comments about our services as our staff is normally recognized for their gracious attitude and professionalism. We really hope you change your mind and come visit us again. We would love to offer you the outstanding experience you deserve. Kind regards, Guest Service Center Management

This was one of our best holidays so far all of the hotel staff are helpful and very friendly. A special thanks to Jose Minaya our butler and Genardo Adames at the pool and beach area 5 STARS to the both of you, they went out of their way to make sure we were well look after and along with all of the staff that we met, to many names to remember.
I use a power wheelchair for getting around as I have limited mobility and cannot walk for long a distance. Although most of the resort was accessible except for the Riviera buffet and some of the washrooms the staff were willing to help out. Jose was able to get use a ramp for the entry way all to our room which wad a blessing not to have to fight to get up the small step. There is a wooden board walk for handicap access to the beach so we were able to sit at the beach and Genardo always made sure it was available for us as a lot of people did not understand the meaning of handicapped use. It would be nice to see the same accessibility to beach in the Level Adults only area. The main adults pool had a ramp for getting into the pool along with handrails at all of the steps. The adults level only pool had a hand rail at the steps but the first was to deep for me for me to get up or down.
Over all we had a wonderful time and look forward to returning again

Dear Gary, Thank you very much for choosing us as destination for your December getaway. We love to know that you enjoyed your stay and that you received the excellent service, which all our guests deserve. It'll be a pleasure for us to share your compliments with our team, especially with Genardo and Jose. We appreciate your suggestion regarding a wooden board at the Level beach section, for a better accessibility. We hope to welcome you back soon, in a near future. Kind regards, Guest Service Center Management

If you are booking the above "MPC Beach Wellness" that is adults only, the adjoining Melia is family friendly with children. Premium Beachside is in the Adults only and can still be Level.

What time do the bars open on the beach and in the pool? Thank you for any help.

Yes -for non level- you will have pool and the buffet nearby- except for the evening when the buffet moves to the lobby area. Also, the best coffee in the morning is at the lobby. I have no idea about Level guests and their facilities.

So funny you asked this, as we just returned from there and I said I was so sad that I did not see him... he was SO good to us. It's possible that he has moved back to the Caribe side (where he was pre-pandemic). Sadly, no, not seen at the Level and we were there for 10 days.
