Softball Sees Five Selected to All-Ivy Teams

PROVIDENCE, R.I.  – Brown softball received five All-Ivy honorees the Ivy League announced on Wednesday.
 
Senior outfielder Brianna Rodriguez, junior pitcher Alexis Guevara and junior designated player Laurel Moody were all named Second-Team All-Ivy. Junior outfielder Leah Carey and sophomore first baseman Jasmine Hsiao were named Honorable Mention. Senior pitcher Jodie Aguirre was Brown's Academic All-Ivy selection.
 
Rodriguez earned All-Ivy honors for the second time in her career after being named Honorable Mention in 2022. The Des Moines, Iowa native finished the season hitting .274 with nine doubles, 19 RBI and 11 runs scored. During league play, Rodriguez upped her average to .340, posted a .908 OPS and drove in 15 of her 19 runs. She also had six of her nine doubles in Ivy League play.
 
Guevara earned a spot of the All-Ivy team for the second-straight year. During Ivy League play, Guevara led the league in innings pitched (87.0) and was tied for the league lead with seven wins. Guevara was third in the league in ERA (2.33), opposing batting average (.249) and strikeouts (47). The Chula Vista, Calif., native was second in the league with 3.50 strikeout-to-walk ratio and was also second in the league and 41st in the NCAA with 1.38 walks per seven innings.
 
Moody earned All-Ivy honors for the second-consecutive season after being named Honorable Mention as a sophomore. Moody led Brown in conference play with a .369 batting average, 24 hits, .538 slugging percentage and 1.012 OPS. Moody scored 10 runs and drive in nine while tying for the team lead with six doubles and 12 walks. The Carlsbad, Calif. Native struck out just one time in 65 at bats during league play and for the entire season was second in the league and 21s t in the nation in toughest to strikeout with one strikeout every 31.3 at bats.
 
Carey was named All-Ivy for the first time finishing second on the team with a .364 batting average in league play. The junior added 16 hits and five runs scored, while driving in three. Carey only struck out twice in 44 at bats during conference play and was 5-for-6 in stolen bases.
 
Hsiao earned Honorable Mention honors for the second-straight season. The sophomore finished league play with a .313 batting average, .484 on base percentage and .905 OPS. The Mountain View, Calif., native scored a team-high 17 runs and had four doubles and two triples in league play. For the season, Hsiao led Brown with a .352 average, 43 hits, 12 doubles and 27 runs scored. Her 16 stolen bases are the third-most in a season in Brown program history.
