NEWA New Video Message From Your Blogger JHK

What’s at stake in all these international confabs like the G-7 are the tenuous supply lines that keep the global game going. The critical ones deliver oil around the world. China imports about 10 million barrels a day to keep its operations going. It produces less than 4 million barrels a day. Only about 15 percent of its imports come from next door in Russia. The rest comes from the Middle East, Africa, and South America. Think: long lines of tanker ships traveling vast distances across the seas, navigating through narrow straits. The Chinese formula is simple: oil in, exports out. It has worked nicely for them in recent decades. Things go on until they don’t.

That game is lubricated by a fabulous stream of debt generated by Chinese banks that ultimately answer to the Communist Party. The party is the Chinese buffer between banking and reality. If the party doesn’t like the distress signals that the banks give off, it just pretends the signals are not coming through, while it does the hokey-pokey with its digital accounting, and things appear sound a while longer.

The US produces just over 12 million barrels of oil a day. About 6.5 million of our production is shale oil. We use nearly 20 million a day. (We’re not “energy independent.”) The shale oil industry is wobbling under the onerous debt load that it has racked up since 2005. About 90 percent of the companies involved in shale oil lose money. The capital costs for drilling, hauling a gazillion truckloads of water and fracking sand to the rig pads, and sucking the oil out, exceed the profit from doing all that. It’s simply all we can do to keep the game going in our corner of the planet, but it’s not a good business model. After you’ve proved conclusively that you can’t make a buck at this using borrowed money, the lenders will quit lending you more money. That’s about where we are now.

Europe is near the end of its North Sea oil bonanza and there’s nothing in the on-deck circle for them. Germany tried to prove that they could run the country on “renewables” and that experiment has flopped. They have no idea what they’re going to do to keep the game going in their patch of nations. They must be freaking out in their charming capital cities.

The next economic bust is going to amount to the crack-up of the oil age, and the “global economy” that emerged in its late stage. It was all about moving fantastic quantities of things around the planet. The movements were exquisitely tuned, along with the money flows that circulated freely, like blood carrying oxygen to each organ. All of that is coming to an end. The nations of the world must be feeling desperate, despite the appearance of good manners at meetings like the G-7. What’s at stake for everybody in the dark background is the ability to maintain high standards of living only recently attained. And the fear behind that is not knowing just how far backward these high standards of living may have to slide.

A lot of people still alive in China must remember a daily existence on par with the 12th century. In the USA, where democracy is mostly represented by low-order thinking skills, the memory of life before electricity and running water is long gone. We’ve been living in Futurama since the end of the last world war. That war, by the way, is not entirely forgotten in Europe, despite all the charm currently on display and the tourists swarming with their selfie sticks. The place was a charnel house for centuries and the Euro folk will do about anything to suppress conflict. Lately, it looks like they’re willing to give up on Western Civilization itself to keep the peace.

Lord knows what Mr. Trump’s strategy is with these so-called “trade talks.” He has explicitly enough pushed for the re-industrialization of America, and that implies — among other things — decoupling from the China’s torrential merchandise supply lines, cutting off its revenues. Closing off China’s access to US markets itself might be enough to finally blow up China’s deeply fraudulent banking system. Maybe the aim is to just disable China, derail it from its seeming aim of becoming the next world hegemon. Does Mr. Trump think he can do that without blowing up the rest of the world’s financial arrangements? The stock markets haven’t been digesting that story very well lately. Could the US government be collectively dumb enough to think that shale oil will permit this country to re-industrialize while the rest of the world stumbles back into a dark age?

More likely, all the advanced nations will make that downward journey together. The US is well on its way, despite all the MAGA bravado. The country is reeling in bad faith, delusion, official corruption, porno-pharmaceutical vice, and ethnic rancor. The people who live in FlyoverLand style themselves like Visigoths, all tatted up and armed to the teeth, moiling angrily at the edge of the Rome-like coastal enclaves. The elites want to stuff themselves inside their phones and live there. Guess what: that won’t be a “safe space.”

The modern world is hopelessly overextended, because people keep clinging to a broken model instead of adapting. This will lead us directly into collapse and a new dark age.

    • Epicur August 26, 2019 at 10:28 am #

The problem with “adapting” is the necessary population reduction.

Volunteers have been hard to find.

    • K-Dog August 26, 2019 at 10:31 am #

I read it. You seem to be getting it. Have faith, your journey will bring clarity and you will know what to do.

    • Neon Vincent August 26, 2019 at 10:32 am #

Hi, John! Between your post asking “what is a dark age?” and our host’s image of “The people who live in FlyoverLand style themselves like Visigoths, all tatted up and armed to the teeth, moiling angrily at the edge of the Rome-like coastal enclaves,” I’m reminded of John Michael Greer’s description of the external proletariat forming war-bands, a concept he borrowed from Toynbee. Of course, “the people in FlyoverLand” are really the internal proletariat. The external proletariat are the refugees coming across our southern border, but they’re not forming war bands. To see those, one would have to look at ISIS.

Your entry also mentions the $22 trillion in debt the U.S. has racked up. Congress lifting debt ceiling for two years has averted a crisis until after the election, but it will make the long-term situation worse. As Barry Commoner, said in his four laws of ecology, there is no such thing as a free lunch.

Another of Commoner’s Laws is “there is no away” and yet another is “nature knows best.” The way people have been trying to combine the two is recycling, which is a way of imitating nature through culture and technology. Unfortunately, because China is no longer taking the rest of the world’s low-quality recycling, people in the U.S. are finding out we’re recycling wrong, which really screws up our attempts to be sustainable. Oops! Time to re-think the circular economy.

      • John of the West August 26, 2019 at 10:47 am #

It should be patently obvious to anyone who’s paying attention that the debt ceiling will continue to be raised, which is probably until people finally quit paying attention to it. It can’t be paid and spending can’t be brought under control because of the social and economic chaos that would result.

As for the proletariats, the monopoly on the use of force in Rome dramatically eroded over time with one incursion and another. At some point, someone’s going to decide that the national government no longer speaks for them and will simply start running things locally. This probably won’t be an act of political defiance, but more because there are going to start being gaps in any kind of formal authority once economic pain truly begins to hit.

When the money fails [ Gen. 47:15 ] the bribes can no longer be paid.

            Druid,
Well, when bribes can no longer be paid with money, time to “get on your knees” (In the Bible… lots of places)….

It’s amazing how a single BS session by Kunstler is unquestionably regarded as bible truth, then expounded on by his dutiful little bees. Kunstler makes a very good living painting a dark scenario followed by a few books of plausible nonsense as support. It’s a business model that works spectacularly. Howard Ruff is a great example going back to the early 70’s. He told everyone to stay away from stocks and bonds and instead invest in Gold, Platinum and silver. He wrote books with titles like; “Famine and Survival in America” and “How to prosper During the Coming Bad Years.”

        • SpeedyBB August 26, 2019 at 5:34 pm #

John, this was elucidated very cleverly in John Updike’s TOWARD THE END OF TIME, where he predicted such futuristic developments as killer drones, loss of government power and gradual social disintegration. Here’s how Wiki describes it: “Set in New England, like many of Updike’s novels, Toward the End of Time portrays a world in which the Chinese and the Americans have attacked one another with nuclear weapons. The aftermath is shown through retired investment advisor Ben Turnbull’s journal. Though the dollar and the central government are gone, life in Boston and the surrounding areas goes on thanks to FedEx and other less reputable entrepreneurs.”

      • Janos Skorenzy August 26, 2019 at 11:39 am #

Barry Commoner! That’s a name I haven’t heard in a long time. Thank you. He was a High Priest of the New Religion. That’s what it is for most. I don’t say that to denigrate Barry. No doubt he was a Bernie Sanders kind of guy with his own denigratables.

One time I was reading the notices in the Cambridge Food Coop – the best billboard in the world. One group was trying to “hook up” their compost pile to their house – to heat the latter. They might have succeeded in stinking up the place but that’s about it. The amount of heat would be far too small, obviously. One must mediate on a bird flying over a frozen lake. The temperature of the bird is well over a hundred degrees, but the frozen lake has much more energy. It’s like that. The bird or compost pile is not going to be able to melt the lake or heat the house. They conflated temperature with quantity. An elementary mistake, eh Watson?

        • abbybwood August 26, 2019 at 1:48 pm #

Too bad the technology for geothermal can’t be worked out for home heating. Obviously as one digs into the Earth it gets hot. I was reading yesterday where Russia dug the deepest hole in the world and after about eight miles they had to abort the project because all the tools were melting. Now the hole is still there with a rusted cover over it. “Watch your steeeeepppp!!!!”

I currently live with my son and daughter-in-law near Manhattan Beach in a house and even at 80 degrees outside I am fine with the windows open so I can hear the birds and life going on outside and also I might have the chance to feel a breeze or smell newly mowed grass.

But if they are in the house forget it!! Windows bolted shut and the AC blasting until the house is like a damn refrigerator and I have a sore throat brewing!

Honestly, I cannot imagine their generation EVER being able to survive any major economic downturn where they might have to part with their ESPN and RING cameras and the damn AC!

          • RIB August 26, 2019 at 3:51 pm #

My God, Abby, your description of life without your son and daughter-in-law sounds like a scene straight out of the death chamber in the movie “Soylent Green.”

        • outsider August 26, 2019 at 4:42 pm #

Paul Ehrlich was/is better known than Commoner. As a teenager I read his frightening “Population Bomb” which, for a long time, scared me out of getting married and having children. Ehrlich was right about overpopulation, but, unfortunately for the human species, those backward cultures which most needed to get the message weren’t paying attention. And those Western cultures which did listen so well that they quit having babies are now paying a terrible price.

          • Janos Skorenzy August 28, 2019 at 12:57 pm #

But we still didn’t have to let the savages in. That’s what damned us. That and offshoring our industrial base.

The Elite pretended to believe Erlich and then did the opposite. Just like they pretend to believe in global warming and then buy beach houses. They are Liars and Sons of Liars all the way back to Cain.

          • GreenAlba August 29, 2019 at 8:18 am #

The Elite can afford to buy beach houses, since writing off a beach house in 50 years’ time isn’t going to bother them. It’s the modestly well off who are ill advised to buy a beach house, if that’s the only house they have and they want to leave something to their children that isn’t going to depreciate.

      • Billy Hill August 26, 2019 at 12:09 pm #

At the moment there is not a market for recycling solar panels. Nor for lithium-ion batteries that are the chemistry of choice in utility-scale solar farm battery energy storage systems. In about 20 years there will be perhaps 1000’s of acres of solar panels at the end of life, to say nothing of the lithium-ion cells of all shapes and sizes.

Whether there will be a market by then — for that matter whether there will be a “20 years from now” at all is hypothetical. It’s a risky planet.

Nevertheless there are believers in the electric future and they are busy with new battery designs (polymer electrolyte) and electric motors (multiple rotors). If they succeed in scaling up we all might be surprised at the rapidity with which the oil paradigm diminishes in importance. It is possible that the automotive industry of today will be totally transformed by 2025 (with catastrophic economic effects similar to the widespread application of the internal combustion engine). Autonomous control, 1000 mile EV ranges, and the uber model will erode the concept of vehicle ownership, and — surprise — the suburban model will flourish.

All assuming anyone has any money of value. And assuming that our embedded cyber technology does not autonomously launch ICBMs owing to a “computer glitch.” Gee, that never happens…

    • TraffickingInDivinity August 26, 2019 at 12:06 pm #

You are right about a new dark age, I just wish I knew when. Everyone is so sure the next recession will be the big one but QE forever can work for a long time. Let’s be prepared for both outcomes!

      • abbybwood August 26, 2019 at 1:59 pm #

I was thinking about the economic meltdown that hit in 2007-8 and the “toxic derivatives” market and was reminded of the excellent documentary PBS Frontline did about the CFTC and Brooksley Born trying to warn Congress and the public about what could happen.

I watched it again: “The Warning”. It could (and probably will) happen again. And to think how, in spite of it all, Obama filled The White House and his Cabinet with all the players who were behind the quagmire….Summers, Rubin etc.

        Talk about corruption!!!

Birch bark works to ease pain make a tea out of it
How do you think the ancients delt with pain?
There are plants with pain easing extracts some legal and some not at the moment.

“How do you think the ancients delt with pain?”

            Benr,

        • abbybwood August 27, 2019 at 12:46 am #

          I had the same problem!

I ended up with the pain management guy, Dr. Ing, at UCLA Santa Monica and he did a cortisone injection in out-patient surgery on me.

Same problem persisted. When I was sitting, no pain. As soon as I stood up to walk I thought I was going to die with the pain.

He told me it might take two rounds. A few months later I did the second round.

Sure enough, we did the second round and the NEXT DAY I had no pain! I could walk pain free! I emailed him and told him it was like a freakin’ miracle! So liberating!

Now it has been about two years and I am noticing when I water outside as I bend over to turn the hose off/on as I come up I get shots of pain in my legs. Take a little Advil a few times a day and I am not really complaining. But I guess the time is coming where I may have to go in for another round of cortisone injections into my lower spinal area if it gets REALLY bad again.

Truly incapacitating and life-changing….that kind of pain.

And Vicodin may be a quick band-aid. And he will give out plenty of those. But the side-effects (constipation) are not worth it.

Best to you in what ever medical decisions you make!

Anyone willing to give odds if this trade war turns into something more ‘kinetic’? Will it be an accidental thing, or something more willful?

    • TiredOfTheTreadmill August 26, 2019 at 11:44 am #

I won’t place odds on that because I would argue we already are in hot skirmishes with China in Africa. A couple years ago I asked a green beret who lived across the street and who was deployed to Africa a few times if this was the case and he replied “pretty much.”

Most likely this “kinetic” diplomacy will still use proxy states. I seriously doubt China, Russia or the USA has to worry about invasionary forces taking them over as all are way to large. This hold especially true if oil gets scarcer and more expensive. Nukes may come into the picture, but I don’t think they will. The most likely outcome for all three of these big players is internal destruction, which already is well underway in the US and China.

    • TraffickingInDivinity August 26, 2019 at 12:09 pm #

China and the US won’t get kinetic but US and Iran will – Israel is already bombing Iran via Syria and many of those bombs come from the US.

Look at history, more specifically the years running up to Pear Harbor and plug in Japan instead of China. China still has the Asian philosophy of community before individual which we stopped in Japan. China is dangerous.

I tend to think that the vast bulk of billionaires running the world would prefer to just keep the status quo and do what it is they do to tamp down any major dissents that could blow up in THEIR faces.

As we have seen over this summer, they just love their little jet-setting soirees in the pristine beaches of the world and their good food and booze and servants. Peace all around them where ever they go. They just want to sun themselves and have their confabs and meditation/work out times in the morning and their organic smoothies and just throw the peons enough crumbs for helping them out that they are actually happy to go on home to their wives and kids and enjoy a meal and their own fun times as families. I can guarantee everyone that those who work for the Gates’, the Kardashians’, the Clinton’s etc. make a very fine wage and probably live a very nice life-style.

I have worked with the super-wealthy and their “people” whether nurses (like me) or physical therapists, or chefs or gardeners or dog groomers/walkers or pool boys etc. have GOOD lives. They make good money and like their jobs and are generally happy with their lives and I have seen have honest, respectable speaking relationships with their bosses.

I honestly cannot imagine the hoi-polloi wanting to upset their apple carts. (It is not easy to find quality professionals who deliberately WANT to cater to them and their spawn, happily).

Right now, the super-rich and their various staffs of nannies, pilots, various assistants all live in their own little pretty bubbles and when they all rest their heads on their pillows at night there is little to NO unhappiness with their lots in life or honest thoughts and prayers about “the others”.

The last thing I think ANY of the 1%ters want to do is to upset their precious apple carts.

Amazon burning or no amazon burning. Unrest in France with a refugee problem or not. Their plans for vacay(and their staffs) go on….be damned.

There is always “talk” of The Third World. Places like Senegal, where religious daarus are a tradition that put many youths at the risk of abuse. Tens of thousands of very young children weave among traffic tapping on car windows for money or food to survive. Children as young as two are sent to religious schools to memorize scripture and learn “humility”. The country is about 95% Muslim.

These small children are forced to learn to beg and at times are resorted to beatings if quotas are not met. These children often sleep in crumbled buildings, on roadsides or in shopfronts, just like so many stray dogs many Americans would be happy to adopt and to give forever homes to.

Most of these children have not seen their families for years and many just die.

Slave trafficking comes about with these children and they are often sexually abused.

This world is the “other world” from those partying on the Geffen yacht as they dine on lobsters and tuck their children into safe beds.

“It’s a human catastrophe”, said Souleymane Diagne, a social worker in Dakar’s Medina neighborhood.

Until we reach a point where the entire planet honors the child as precious and to be loved and cared for in a 2020 standard of care, whether in the streets of Senegal or in rural Alabama, we have failed miserably as a human “civilization”.

This recent trade spat reminds me of the traumas of teenage social life. Donald and China had a messy break-up with lots of shouting, accusations, and recriminations. Now Donald says China called twice last night and wants to make up.

China denies calling and says she’s still mad as hell at Donald. She says he’s a cheap date who expects her to pay and no way is she returning his factories. She also accuses him of improperly touching her down low in her Hong Kong.

Donald’s friend, the Mayor of Munchkin City, remarked, “There were discussions that went back and forth, and let’s just leave it at that.”

Donald’s other friend, John with the creepy mustache, is believed to have fomented the break-up because he has long desired to violently defile China under the bleachers.

    • TiredOfTheTreadmill August 26, 2019 at 11:45 am #

It’s a sad state of affairs when I trust China much more to be telling the truth than the idiot hustler in the White House.

      • RIB August 26, 2019 at 3:58 pm #

If you served in the military you’d know the best way for a leader to be to be is unpredictable and less than truthful. To take Trump literally is foolish; not to take him seriously is even more foolish. He has the same philosopher that Reagan had in bankrupting the Soviet Union; he’s just not quite as slick about presenting it

Gullible for viewing China as a threat?

Or is this you concerned about your future social credit score?

      • wolfbay August 26, 2019 at 9:23 pm #

Joe Biden thinks China is no threat at all. Hope he’s right. His son certainly likes them.

    • Exscotticus August 26, 2019 at 11:59 am #

Crude allegory but it works. What is the metaphorical equivalent of a trade imbalance and property theft in dating terms?

Donald is paying lavishly for China to live in style, and she is returning the favor in kind with kisses and such, but Donald is ultimately going broke, and the relationship is unsustainable. She’s also stealing money from Donald’s wallet, which for many decades his flat mates pretended not to notice, and would like to continue not noticing, since the stress of confronting China is too great for them to bear.

      • TiredOfTheTreadmill August 26, 2019 at 12:40 pm #

Yeah, but Donald also got to dump his unwanted crap at China’s place for years too. Got cheap labor etc… None of it has been a one way street or it would have ended long ago. Further, the (parents) corporate owners wanted this arranged marriage so they could make lots of money. As your comment about crude allegory implies, this situation is more complex than a teen drama. However, the GGG has the emotional maturity of a teenager so it’s easy to relate to the teen drama allegory.

          >>> However, the GGG has the emotional maturity of a teenager

If you say so. I think Trump’s emotional maturity levels are on par with those of his critics, especially since they can’t seem to acknowledge his accomplishments or their own egregious behavior. I mean is kicking people out of your restaurant because they’re not Dems mature? If you say so…

          • TiredOfTheTreadmill August 26, 2019 at 1:43 pm #

Yeah, his own comments, contradictions, lies, thinking out loud and whiny tweets are all indicative of a mature stable genius. I feel bad for people who have to defend “their guy” no matter what. Just because I rip Trump it doesn’t mean I 100% the whiny Dems. A huge part of the reason this country will go down is the over saturation of politicizing EVERYTHING into phony either/or and black/or white understanding. Hell, the whole of this country has become a bunch of childish whiners.

At this point, I don’t care if POTUS literally mewls whike holding a blankly—so long as he gets results.

We tried the poet philosopher diplomat President for eight years, and all it got us were a bunch of pretty speeches.

Trump’s base didn’t elect him for his elocution. Why his mannerisms matter so much to so many is a mystery. Is Biden-the-gaffe-machine any better? Nope—but they’ll vote for him just the same.

          • TiredOfTheTreadmill August 26, 2019 at 2:17 pm #

The vast majority of Trump’s base voted for for him to screw over people they dislike. Most are leery of and dislike people who are smarter than themselves. Keep swinging at the Dems if you feel the need (which sees to be the case) as I have no emotional investment in them either these days.

          • RIB August 26, 2019 at 4:00 pm #

Trump’s a lot smarter than he shows, Sometimes, it’s smart to appear stupid.

            >>> The vast majority of Trump’s base voted for for him to screw over people they dislike. Most are leery of and dislike people who are smarter than themselves.

And you know this how? Lots of Trump voters are friends of yours?

Your elitist attitude—echoed by Dems in general—is certainly one of the character flaws that led Trump to victory.

          • TiredOfTheTreadmill August 26, 2019 at 5:45 pm #

Elitist? Hah! I didn’t know I’m an elitist. And yeah, I know quite a few Trump supporters. Grew up in the thick of them. I know quite well how they operate in public, and more importantly, in private.

With that out of the way, how many elitist Dems as portrayed in your comments do you know? Or are you just an elitist?

          • BornToKillPeace August 26, 2019 at 7:38 pm #

“Most are leery of and dislike people who are smarter than themselves.”

Maybe replace smarter with *more psychopathic. The Clinton’s are psychopaths. IMHO, Trump comes off more as a frat boy who despite having the style and brains of an above average stereotyped frat boy, still steps in to correct a wrong here or there, and for the most part cares about his country and the well being of his nation.

Sorry, I just don’t fully believe in your statement or logic, but you are welcome to it. In 2019, what do you mean by smarter? I know people who are seen as ostensibly “smarter” because they have had higher professional achievements, are more traveled, make more money, etc; but they inevitably seem to lack the degree you can only get at from the school of hard knocks and from living in poverty. I see how easy it is to dump on white trash who live on cheese doodles and J.Springer re-runs; but this being the 21st c, I know just as many people of my generation versed in Schopenhauer and Mencken whom haven’t been able to afford a proper vacation or a working automobile in a decade and would run intellectual circles around a Never Trumper from the coastal regions born into “privilege” (and do). Some of these people voted for Trump because they are already living with the consequences of collapse.

          • BornToKillPeace August 26, 2019 at 7:44 pm #

Is the far-left and far-right divide really only the manifestation of a lens for whom a lack of “openess” or an overabundance of “openess” has been experienced and processed as leading to the most damning of an individual’s life experiences?

          • SoftStarLight August 27, 2019 at 12:21 am #

I agree. Many people who voted for Trump had already experienced the effects of the creeping collapse. But there are still many people who have not yet experienced it and so naturally they don’t understand nor wish to. But if the Doomers are right then they won’t have a choice at some point.

Living in the phone will certainly not be a safe space, absolutely not. Still getting ones’ elite ass into a phone in the first place will still be far easier than a rich man getting his ass into heaven or going through a needles’ eye. Bad faith, delusion, official corruption, porno-pharmaceutical vice, and ethnic rancor are things which fall under the label of vice. Visigoths were not without virtue. Be open to the possibility of surprise.

    • John of the West August 26, 2019 at 10:33 am #

There is always the implication that barbarians were somehow worse than what they replaced, but I think that people miss that collapsing civilizations were already long debased by the time the barbarians came in. After all, why would it have collapsed in the first place? People point to Mad Max as a warning of a possible future, but ignore the fact that total global warfare by established nation-states are what created that fictional apocalyptic world in the first place. Rome became corrupt, decadent, and riddled with incompetence toward the end, otherwise the barbarians would never have found a home in Roman lands.

      • K-Dog August 26, 2019 at 10:48 am #

The Visigoths were pushed in as refugees by invading Huns. Roman soldiers separated the male children and spread them across the empire as hostages. Visigoth men became mercenaries in the roman army. Horribly abused and mistreated the Visigoths eventually revolted and two million hostage young men were killed in town squares all across the empire. I recall that number from Gibbon. Skilled as mercenaries they were a match for the Roman army because that is what they revolted from.

To keep weapons, a necessity for life a Visigoth father getting across the Roman border might have to give up a daughter or the use of a wife to a Roman soldier. When they later sacked Rome Visigoths spared it leaving it after only a day. Eventually peace was made and the Visigoths went to Spain where they adopted the Roman Culture. The Visigothic Kingdom was in southwestern France and the east coast of Spain from the 5th to the 8th centuries. It was the last vestige of the western empire eventually falling to the Moors.

The Pope went out to talk to Attila the Hun. No one knows what was said, but Attila didn’t sack Rome. If the Pope had been the one we have now, he would have opened the gates for him and said, “Enjoy”.

Constantine the Crafty Dalmatian birthed/forged the RC church for power: he forced the top-priests of fledgling & disjointed early Christianity to get-it-together (Council of Nicea) to form an institution. Not long before, Rome chewed-up something like 50 emperors in 50 years!.. The Bishop of Rome – Holy Papa with the shoes of the fisherman & the hat taller than any crown – was THE western king-maker from then to Henry8…I don’t think HolyPapa chickened Attila with Fire&Brimstone, but rather shared with him some tricks of the trade. Maybe too some fella tio & $ payout… Constantine built his greatest monuments, which glorified HIMSELF & the Romanized Olympian Order, not Christianity, after he claimed to have seen the cross-in-the-sky prior to his emperor-making battle-win; only decided to be baptised, much later, on his death-bed. Gotta cover your bases!

Apparently as with many things, the third time is the charm. During their third siege of Rome the Visigoths were able to gain access to the city. Quite possibly because some discontented slaves opened the gates and let them in. They were destructive like the other barbarian tribes. But they allowed citizens to hide in the basilicas and they didn’t burn or pillage them. Interestingly enough Rome wasn’t even the capital of the Western Empire at the time, Milan was.

Until a majority of Americans learn and understand mathematics (which I do not think will ever happen) they will continue to delude themselves into believing that they can make $50K a year and spend $200K because they can afford the monthly payments, the decay will slowly move forward. As the losers slide one by one off of the economic treadmill and into their parent’s and grandparent’s basements, the vast majority of remaining consumers will not notice their disappearance. The retailers certainly have, but they too are expendable and easily written off as natural selection to the Cyber-stores and online betting parlors. As governments move in to desperately capitalize on any remaining vices like drug sales, gambling schemes, and probably even prostitution next, they too will feed off of the general public until nothing remains but bare bones.

I especially like the way the Good Book says that the ending act (not actually an end) will come as a total surprise because that is exactly how it is playing out, surprise, surprise, surprise.

Good article. I spent a few summers working in the Yukon. I lived in a beat up trailer, cooked on propane, used an outhouse full of mossies, and my shower and laundry facilities were the lake that I lived on. By September a wash-up was a very quick splash, but at least the mosquitos were dead. That was thirty years ago, and despite all our wonderful comforts and relative wealth of today I still take great delight in the simple joy of a hot shower. I even love cutting the grass with a lawn mower.

Guys like Trump and other pink handers will last about a year when tough times arrive. Their money won’t be worth a damn unless they can hide it. They’ll be torn apart and all the private security services in the World won’t be worth much if they are house bound and afraid to leave the ‘compound’. In fact, most likely their ‘protectors’ will simply take what they want. Too many guns. Too much anger.

Our little family? Partly in thanks to JHK’s ‘The Long Emergency’ we moved to a very small Village/Valley, have land, tools, stores, and many many skills, and value our great community relationships. Our friends down the road keep an eye on our ‘stuff’, and we look out for them. We don’t lock our houses or shops, and I keep my truck keys in the truck so I know where they are. If people need gardening land I’ll provide it and help them get started. Looking forward to the end of behemoth RV tourism, and rampant consumerism (including air travel) for sure.

        City,

I read about a consultant who recently attended a secret, private conference of mega-rich folks contemplating “how to survive the apocalypse”.

Interesting to me, the number one issue was “how to keep your own security from turning on you”. One guy thought of locking up all the food in a vault to which only he knew the combination. Once a day he planed to unlock it to feed his security detail. I wonder how much torture he could take before giving up the combo?

Another idea was to hire your poorer blood relatives for security, figuring that the DNA connection would add a measure of loyalty. LOL, good luck with that.

The banksters running Boeing and the Eurocrat crooks running Airbus will also see their enterprises stuck with idle factories and unsalable aircraft once the system freezes up.

Rock and a hard place. That’s where Trump and any putative future leader of the US finds themselves these days. Blow up China and they blow up the prevailing global wealth pump, whereby the US offloads its increasingly worthless government debt in exchange for cheap Chinese goods (and good little capitalists take profits all along the way, of course), which are the only thing the US’s impoverished working class can afford these days after decades of a race to the quantitative and qualitative bottom. To top it off, apparently Trump now believes that he has the power to order US companies to bring their businesses back home, in what one can only characterize as a mental case of jujitsu of the highest order, especially coming from one who claims with every breath to be the living breathing prophet of red, white, and blue American capitalism. The hits just keep on coming daily now from an administration and indeed a culture and a country that has moved so far beyond the term post-modern in every way, that we’re all at a loss to even describe what it is exactly we’re “post” anymore. Post-rational might be as good a place to start as any.

Oil is the transportation fuel that keeps the global economy moving. For many years the last few barrels needed to fulfill demand have been produced by some marginal companies that struggle to stave off bankruptcy. Such is the case today. With oil above $70 per barrel bankruptcy would be far in the distance. In the $50 range, the wolf is at the door.

This game can go on a lot longer than you might think. The U.S. is not the only country with shale and other tight sand oil and gas resources. When the price is high enough there will be marginal companies willing to drill them. It will be time to worry when the demand can’t be met at $100 per barrel. That is nowhere in sight yet.

” It will be time to worry when the demand can’t be met at $100 per barrel. That is nowhere in sight yet.”

Especially with the demand destruction that kicks in at $100/bbl. We will run out of tolerance for each other before we run out of oil.

  16. zekesdad August 26, 2019 at 10:46 am #

James; There’s something about your economic analysis of the oil economy that doesn’t quite compute. You say that the oil dependent economy we’ve enjoyed for the last 150 years or so is coming to an end, yet American production is higher than it’s been in years. Like real estate developers in a boom, shale producers are producing so much oil and gas they’ve glutted the market. In the Permian Basin they’re flaring gas because there’s not enough pipeline capacity so send it to markets. A couple of months ago the price of natural gas was negative. That is, producers were paying pipelines to take the gas off their hands.
Sure, eventually the age of oil will end, but it will likely be a decades long process. They’re still pumping oil out of fields in the Permian Basin that were discovered in the 1920s and they are still discovering more. Right now oil is not even double the price it was during the Arab Oil Embargo in the early 1970’s. How many other things have appreciated in price so little over the last 45 years? My guess is that oil will become more and more expensive as it becomes less available. That should lead to more serious attempts to conserve energy while developing alternative technologies. Every time I drive through West Texas I see more and more wind turbines, and there are millions of acres to put more of them. I don’t think we all need to live like the Amish just yet.

    • James Howard Kunstler August 26, 2019 at 11:04 am #

The permian basin is a product of low-interest financing to shale oil companies that can’t make money. That is what I wrote in the blog. Soon, they will be cut off from further loans, because they can’t make good on the old loans. Production will go down, and probably very quickly.
Wind turbines can only be built and maintained with cheap oil. Wind and solar will end up disappointing the multitudes.

      • K-Dog August 26, 2019 at 11:19 am #

Could the US government be collectively dumb enough to think that shale oil will permit this country to re-industrialize while the rest of the world stumbles back into a dark age?

Solar could still have potential. Here in Germany, there is often an energy surplus that gets sold back to the power companies, and this is largely from private solar panels.

      • benr August 26, 2019 at 5:55 pm #

We can literally grow our own power source in the form of switch grass and hemp oil from seeds to power diesels
Switch grass and hemp are weeds both excellent for making ethanol unlike corn which is not so good.
Brazil has managed to do it so can we.

        • SoftStarLight August 27, 2019 at 1:02 am #

But doesn’t that take up a lot of agricultural land for the purposes of fuel rather than food production? Is this maybe why so much of the forest is being clear-cut in Brazil?

          • K-Dog August 27, 2019 at 4:11 am #

The short answer to this question is no.

          • benr August 27, 2019 at 11:45 am #

No we pay farmers to not grow crops right now.
The united states can grow enough food to feed and power the world.
Heck California alone could just about do it with the catch being water. We need to build more reservoirs to catch , collect and store water.
Hemp and switch grass can grow just about anywhere providing its not to cold.

      • PeteAtomic August 28, 2019 at 8:49 pm #

“The permian basin is a product of low-interest financing to shale oil companies that can’t make money. That is what I wrote in the blog. Soon, they will be cut off from further loans, because they can’t make good on the old loans. Production will go down, and probably very quickly.
Wind turbines can only be built and maintained with cheap oil. Wind and solar will end up disappointing the multitudes.”

What’s the chance of nationalization to some or all of the oil industry in the US? I can envision a clamor for government involvement as a reaction to high enough consumer auto and heating oil fuel prices. What’s ‘high enough’ ? I’m not sure.

    • Exscotticus August 26, 2019 at 12:13 pm #

Markets—manipulated as they are—may not respond in such a linear manner. They reflect the availability of oil right now and in the near future, not the nonrenewable nature of oil itself.

Recall Hemingway’s quote on how one goes bankrupt: “Two ways. Gradually, then suddenly.”

This description also happens to match the power output of most batteries.

    • toktomi August 26, 2019 at 12:43 pm #

      @zekesdad

The “amount” of oil in the ground has virtually nothing to do with the health of the global industrial economy.

In the very simplest terms that describe everything you need know, an economic/financial system that must grow exponentially to survive is fueled by a requisite energy source that must grow exponentially interminably.

But don’t accept my stupid opinion. Do your own damn research before posting illiterate opinions of your own.

      ~toktomi~

    • Martymcfly August 26, 2019 at 5:19 pm #

Zekesdad, I think you are correct that we have enough oil to last a long time, probably much longer than is needed as we switch to renewables. Of course, that opinion is very unpopular around here. The end of oil has been predicted many, many times. So far, they’ve all been wrong. Will they be right this time? Maybe, but not likely.

The only point I might disagree with you on is your guess that oil becomes more expensive as it becomes less available. I suspect what may happen is oil gets cheaper as demand drops because we find better, less expensive alternatives. In the end, we will probably leave a lot of fossil fuels in the ground.

Instead of the nightly “making a difference” segment on NBC news, it should have a daily story of people who can no longer afford the basics, live pay check to pay check, don’t know how to repair anything, or cook a simple meal or grow a tomato. Maybe it would help wake a few people up to the reality that people who are completely dependent are easy to exploit.

And another segment “did not make a difference” on how Obama did zip for the environment, labor unions, student loans, etc. In fact, medical costs are even worse and prescription costs, through the roof.

He really accomplished nothing except to make Dems feel warm and fuzzy for eight years. And that’s all Dems really want. Planning for the future is a waste of time. The deniers will not even believe there is a problem in the first place.

I think that the cities, without the supply lines full, are going to empty out onto the countryside and all the rural planning in the world will be instantly nullified by the outflow. The toughest will succeed.

A limited oil situation will create the need for more farmers as the tractor culture dies out. Sharecroppers may become prevalent again. The cities will lose impact and indeed large percentages of the city populations may die. So watch out, suburbs, exurbs and countryside, the ‘hoods are coming to get you.

Also, being a Liberal as I am I, for one, don’t think my political colleagues want the prepper lifestyle or chickens in every backyard of the burbs in suburbia CANUCKISTAN.

My King James Bible sez ‘if I live by the gun I will die by the gun’ so I don’t really want a gun unless I see a wild turkey and I’m hungry enough to clean it & eat it after cooking it enough to make it edible.

I’m a fisherman at heart and don’t like killing Bambie, Bullwinkle, or Rockey if squirrel stew is on the menu de jour.

Honestly, as things get worse, normalcy bias and backfire effect are going to show up more and more in normal conversation. It takes a certain level of imagination and initiative to start thinking about what is coming and how to react to it, something that a lot of people don’t necessarily have in abundance.

Personally, I don’t bring this sort of thing up much in conversation. It’s like trying to explain electricity to a turtle. Most people are conditioned to be optimistic and not think twice about what might happen down the road. Seems particularly problematic with the overly-insulated millennials. The. Action is already dead. It just hasn’t been officially pronounced.

A recent road trip showed town after town, village after village dead. I’ve not seen worse in third world countries. Derelict main streets, weeds growing in those main streets, “mobile” homes housing the druggies, obese people when you could see one that wasn’t inside the mobile home watching Jerry Springer. The largest business was public education. Those pits where the young are told they can dream and be whatever they want only they cannot and will live out their lives hoping for a winner lottery ticket.

The roads are trashed and there will never be any repaving. America has all sorts of cancers. One of them could prove fatal and yet it has a dozen that makes the state terminal.

There are no young people who can afford the things or demographics has altered the environment such that no one will live in the area. Use your microeconomic sense. How long would you and any family last if the retail infrastructure collapsed over the next ten years? The idea that Singapore could last more than two or three weeks without outside re-supply is ludicrous. Megapolises are a result of too many people dotting the landscape. They, the urban dwellers, think they own the political landscape here in the US but without full supply lines, they will find themselves in a sort of prison, unable to function at all.

Your MP is so full of KAKA, but he/she is typical of the denier state of the urban dweller. If you feel that the end times are coming, be one of the first to get out. The cities everywhere are going to become killing fields.

In fact, if anything Jesus made it clear that problems for believers would always abound, particularly in an unbelieving society. And Christ did not come with a simple message of kumbaya. He said not to presume he came to earth to bring peace. The message divides. The Gospels were meant to separate not unite. Separating the wheat from the chaff.

I totally disagree with our host that such insignificant thing in our financialised age as lack of profit would stop shale oil companies from operating.

The public transport system is being reformed throughout America, new super-fuel-efficient gas electric buses have begun to drive around American cities, railways, light rail and metro lines are being modernized, hybrid vehicle recharging systems are being created at railway station parking lots, in general, everything is being done so that Americans can keep their lifestyle even if oil will cost $400 per barrel.

Moreover, the production of shale gas and oil allows the United States to get rid of its dependence on oil supplies from the Middle East and potential blackmail from the globalist sex perverts and pedophiles.

All new production of high-tech products of the next generation by all means, if not by tax benefits, than by the construction of infrastructure is lured into the continental United States.

In 10 – 15 years, America will be able to leave Eurasia relatively painlessly and allow the peoples living there to solve their problems all by themselves, fenced off by oceans and powerful fleets.

In the end, it was not for nothing that Islanders created America.

    • JohnAZ August 26, 2019 at 12:08 pm #

I just read a book that copies your ideas here. Basically it states that the US has succeeded because of its outstanding resource situation, its ability to transport easily, and the consequent ability to create wealth (capital). For example, in a world without fossil fuels, goods will move in the US through its waterways easier than anywhere else.

A potential problem with your isolation idea is that when the rest of the world goes down, they will come here and try to take our stuff for themselves. Look south, it is already happening.

      • Janos Skorenzy August 26, 2019 at 1:04 pm #

Boy do I agree with you on this one. To me the main foreign threat to the US is our southern border and that is where part of our military should be stationed. It is not police work any more.

And yes, the Deep State in all its glory is the no. 1 enemy of the people of America. The big question of the 21st century is and will be how the people will regain control of the country.

On the canals, horses on towpaths was the way in the past, for modest canals anyway. There’s one behind the next street down from me – the only contour canal (no locks/changes in elevation) in the country, apparently. Just leisure boats and cyclists/walkers now – maybe it will be revived as a working canal in future!

I don’t think horses will be able to power the Falkirk Wheel, though:

    >>> Basically it states that the US has succeeded because of its outstanding resource situation, its ability to transport easily, and the consequent ability to create wealth (capital).

Too simplistic, as it leaves out culture and leadership.

Recall that Native Americans occupied this rich land of resources and rivers (with which to transport said resources), and they did not succeed. Arguing that they lacked science and technology is beside the point, since it’s Western Culture that emphasizes such values in the first place.

It’s not just what you have, it’s what you do with it. It’s what you do in general. Singapore is not exactly resource rich, yet they punch well above their weight in terms of living standards and success. That’s all due to culture and leadership.

As I keep trying to tell people, the Native Americans had a thriving Neolithic agricultural civilization that only ended when their population was all but annihilated by smallpox and the bubonic plague, among other diseases that were brought to these shores by Europeans. I wish more people would read 1492 by Charles Mann, which describes the primitive yet successful civilizations that occupied the Americas prior to the sixteenth century.

      • Janos Skorenzy August 26, 2019 at 1:07 pm #

No, many of them had little or no agriculture and where mostly hunter gatherers. Or what agriculture they had was “horticulture” or work with the hoe not the plough. Women’s work in other words. You don’t know much about the Indians it seems.

Central America had agriculture but not pastoralism. Not enough protein in other words. Thus humans became food via their religion.

“You don’t know much about the Indians it seems.”

“Among us, it is women who are responsible for fostering life. In our traditions, it is women who carry the seeds, both of our own future generations and of the plant life. It is women who plant and tend the gardens, and women who bear and raise the children. It is my right and duty, as a woman and a mother and a grandmother, to speak to you about these things, to bring our minds together on them. . . .
In making any law, our chiefs must always consider three things: the effect of their decision on peace; the effect on the natural world; and the effect on seven generations in the future. We believe that all lawmakers should be required to think this way, that all constitutions should contain these rules. . . .
. . . we are a powerful people. We are the carriers of knowledge and ideas that the world needs today. We know how to live with this land: we have done so for thousands of years and have not suffered many of the changes of the Industrial Revolution, though we are being buffeted by the waves of its collapse.
Our families are beyond the small, isolated nuclear families that are so convenient to big industry and big government and so damaging to communities.”

We burned their groves and little hoed fields – again and again. We can be just as fierce and ruthless after all, but schmarter.

They were supplanted by a technologically superior civilization with seafaring, metal weapons, metal tools & large draft animals. It wouldn’t have changed the outcome much even if they had had greater resistance to European diseases. The only difference would be that ‘America’ would be more mestizo.

Whites wouldn’t have needed the Blacks if Indians could have been worked as hard. That would have been a blessing in a way.

The most surreal imaginings is replication of mid 20th century USA railway matrix as a necessity for soft landing this economic Spruce Goose… How can such dated infrastructure be considered in this erudite company?

JHK no longer wastes a sentence on his railway lamentations, and yours truly does so without joy, in expectation of zzzz snoring sounds in meetings, etc. The use of railways includes a framework for local scaled economies using the rail fixed plant as a source of skilled labor; not solid state, but men and women with shop skills. Actual maintenance shops with tools and machines dedicated to making/fixing things needed to keep local utilities, farms, and the Interurban railway itself operational. Likewise fire departments were the main garage in towns, shops with equipment carried over from turn of the century transition from steam pumpers to internal combustion ladder trucks etc.

Thank the Lord who keeps His errant humans safe for the appointed time of reckoning. And, Covenant Nations like America given railways as famine hedge although few think of the remnant trunk RR line container speedways in terms of assuring de minimus food distribution role in the LONG EMERGENCY. Some OES planners, too few, still can see railway in the crisis solution set. Expect kinetic as well as financial disarray!

3000 US County Planners are invited to obtain Mike Walker Rail Atlas Maps of all present and past branch rail lines: books of maps for their respective locales, Still on many City/County office walls are large circa 1950 Metropolitan street maps, including detailed railway spur connections to warehouse and factory and especially, downtown farmers market produce terminals. Of course only remnants of downtown rails remain, regarded an oddity when some sticks of rail are uncovered during street excavations!

The point of railways is they offer apolitical transport mode, outside usual class driven levels of urban road maintenance. When solid state succumbs to EMP and Cyberwarfare resulting from satellites & including jamming coils in containers scattered across the land, railways have inhouse ops & repair ethic & can get victuals moving first, with 200 fold multiplication of trucking capacity. This writer has lifetime compendium of whys & hows of railway matrix rehab in pre-crisis preparation set, and for those expecting to survive to the rebuild era, this information shall prove crucial in solution set. JHK knows this writer shares information.

Army moniker “Second Dimension Surface Transport Logistics Platform” is still seen empirically at the Ft. Eustis VA Army Transportation Corps Railroad Battalion template. Work Force (SF Transit Depot roof) garden area is possible neutral meeting place with interested principles looking to discuss ways and means to change electronic wealth to Famine Hedge railway line rehab.

Speaking of cars, witnessed something I haven’t seen in decades. Was at a neighborhood gathering, this old guy showed up in one of those retro Dodge Chargers, bright orange, racing stripe, about 700 horses. I’m not sure why he did it, maybe just to show off, said “Watch This”, then revved up the car, dropped the hammer, and spun the wheels for about 30 seconds, car not moving forward, then proceeded to lay down 200 feet of rubber. The sound and the fury was something to behold, and more smoke than a tire fire. Burning rubber! That brings you back, don’t it Malth?

What’s at stake for everybody in the dark background is the ability to maintain high standards of living only recently attained. And the fear behind that is not knowing just how far backward these high standards of living may have to slide.

But – wait for it – even before living standards go South – discretionary energy consumption will drop.

And color me puzzled – I can’t understand how a so-called civilization is incapable of understanding preserving fossil fuel usage for fire trucks and police cars might be more important than watching Pro sports or NASCAR.

    • BuckP August 26, 2019 at 4:05 pm #

      Good comment!

We have destroyed countries and killed millions, either overtly through invasion or proxies or covertly through intelligence psyops or sanctions.. For example, harsh, crippling sanctions of Iraq driven by the US , in the 90’s, resulted in the deaths of an estimated 500,000 Iraqi children due to a lack of food and medicine. All this brutality was deemed necessary because Sadaam wanted to sell oil in euros rather than dollars.

Being able to drive our gas guzzlers to our local health club for a spinning class or a run on the treadmill, evidently, supersedes the lives and well-being of our fellow humans living in oil producing lands, like, Iraq, Libya, Venezuela, Iran , etc.

      And we call ourselves civilized!

With history as a guide, all empires eventually fall and America will not be any different. After all the pain, death and hardship we have inflicted on weaker nations around the world for oil and the hegemony of the fiat dollar, the world will not mourn our demise.

The USA gave up the moral high ground a long time ago!

I remember once, long ago, we sent military equipment and medical personel into Pakistan in the aftermath of a major earthquake to assist rescue efforts. Now, we terrorize Pakistanis with overhead drones. Obama, the Nobel Peace Prize winner, was partcularly fond of that strategy.

I myself can’t help but imagine armies of modern day Huns and Vandals storming Wall Street, K Street, and Hollywood Boulevard. But I have grave doubts that the modern Vandals and Huns would be as measured as their ancient counterparts. After all, there is a big difference between taking something that you ultimately wish to preserve or get some use of, and taking something that you ultimately wish to see destroyed and forgotten.

I’d like to know JHK’s thoughts on Russia’s future. Russia stands out as an oil-rich nation with lots of other natural resources and enough space to feed and settle a growing population. Climate change may even work out well for Russia. It appears that the problems in Russian society are due mainly to politics (trying to become a modern society when its entire history is rooted in feudalism and its successor, Communism) and not the hard physical problems of resource depletion and overpopulation that affect other nations. When modernity fails, the authoritarian and collectivist impulses in Russian society might actually be a plus – one can imagine the Orthodox Church being a stabilizing force in Russia, while the various religions in America are apt to further divide the country in a time of real crisis. Could a Russian/Chinese alliance keep modernity going in the East for another century? Will Europe turn to Russia to keep the lights on? Or will Russia be forced to use nuclear weapons to defend itself as the rest of the world comes for its oil, water and minerals?

In today’s excellent blog, I was a little surprised that Mr. Kunstler didn’t consider that the end of cheap oil could be THE reason why Trump now wants to buy Greenland. There must be billions of barrels of untapped oil under the surface there, and who cares about global warming anyway when there is nothing that can or will be done to stop it.

    • BackRowHeckler August 26, 2019 at 6:01 pm #

Correct! China has designs on Greenlands oil, and whatever rare earth minerals they can claw out of the ground. They have approached the govt of Denmark about it, and have plans to develop an industrial seaport and an airbase on the island (or is it a continent?)

Here’s the template, and how it worked in Africa, and more recently, the Caribbean. China shows up and offers to make improvements to your infrastructure. Makes loans at high interest rate with the understanding the work will be done by Chinese construction companies, at the same time buying off top Pols with expensive foreign cars, cash and mansions. The Chinese refuse to hire any locals, and in fact are racist against Africans and Jamaicans. When the loans come due of course they can’t be repaid. Guess what, China now claims the seaport, airfield, or sports stadium. That’s how they colonize. Its all perfectly legal. How can anybody object? And that’s how they’ll get Greenland. Of course Denmark can then try to dislodge the PLA with their mighty army and navy. After all, like the Swedes, they have Viking blood.

      Brh

      • JohnAZ August 26, 2019 at 7:20 pm #

The Arctic Ocean, a reservoir of oil supposedly under it, is surrounded by 6 countries. America, Canada, Greenland, Norway, Finland and Russia with Russia having the lion’s share. China needs access to protect its oil security. Trump is playing defense. China will get nothing if we own Greenland and having both sides of the Northwest passage covered, we protect Canada.

This is a chess match. Whoever outthinks the other wins.

Again remember, we cut Japan off from its oil sources in the 1930’s.

        Nuff said.

In the Netflix documentary “American Factory” the Chinese are the owners and supervisors; the Americans are the workers.

The Chinese supervisors at US factories are like one of our political parties when it comes to managing American workers: the Chinese do not want unions. Which side are you on, boys?

The Chinese pay factory workers in the USA $12.84 per hour. American UAW members in GM plants got $29 (or more) an hour. The 1% Chinese will suck up those worker wages and benefits.

The UAW and the union movement fought hard to keep a better balance, with more money in the hands of the workers, more benefits, and safer working conditions.

“Capitalist” America loooves those $29 (or more) an hour blue-collar factory jobs. Creating them like cocktails at the sorority house.

    Question:

What does the G7, CARTIFA, ECO, G20, MIKTA, N11, SAARC, BIMSTEC have in common?

The entire world (that matters) is covered.

No one believes a gasoline powered car is worth anything.

Same for the Apple cell phone in your hand.

I mean, if you stopped to think about it…

    Depreciation never sleeps.

Everything is becoming ever closer to worthlessness with every passing day.

(With the caveat that some things hold their value longer than others. For example, the 10 year old iPhone still works, Although Apple is trying right now to kill it off.)

    Consider the scale of waste.

Real production of products that have no use or are obsolete as soon as they are created, and then distributed.

This is the only world we now.

    What if.

What if… is our only hope.

I bought a 30 year old Makita Mitre Saw yesterday at the Flea Market. I disassembled it and sanded down the rust to clean steel for preparation for paint. I painted it & greased the turntable mechanism so that it would not seize up with rust again. It took me about two hours of work and a tiny bit of old spray paint that I had lying around. The saw is now good for another 30 years of use and will be used for many years to come as long as the Democrats take the helm in 2020.

I bought the mitre saw for $20.00 CDN used so that no tax interrupts my purchasing power to buy tools dirt cheap especially when they need servicing that the average consumer is ill equipped to manage.

  37. I was walking through the grocery store the other day.

Waaay in the back, by the bathrooms,

A news-stand magazine title caught my eye.

    “Prepper”

    Wow.

    I thought,

“What a sad replacement for MAD magazine…”

    and continued on my way.

    • Robert White August 26, 2019 at 6:44 pm #

MAD magazine was popular back when the average person in society had disposable income & discretionary income. Today, after Neoliberalism via the Chicago School eviscerated their disposable income & discretionary income the average debt peon indentured into servitude is attempting to understand how to consolidate what cash/fiat they have left to plan their lives around and ‘Prepper’ magazine would likely seem appealing especially in light of the fact that the Federal Reserve can’t normalize Interest Rates or even stimulate the economy anymore.

World War Three is now certainty for the average American magazine consumer so it would seem that ‘Prepper’ magazine would likely outsell MAD magazine if either was an option.

A former top 100 porn star known as Jenni Lee, was found living in a massive Las Vegas tunnel. She was found by a Dutch TV crew while they were interviewing some of the hundreds of homeless people who camp out in Sin City’s storm drainage system.

Her real name is Stephanie Sadorra. “I used to be so hot,” she told Ewout Genemans, host of the Dutch TV show “Ewout & company.”

With a little cleaning up, she could still be hot, IMHO. But that’s from an old man’s perspective, he-he.

Nevertheless, she probably couldn’t make the big bucks anymore in the porn business. Past her prime. This is what happens to women who want to be independent of a man. They get f*cked in the ass & cast to the curb (or tunnel in this case). These shameless creatures will keep riding the cock carousel until society finally decides to publicly mock, shame, ridicule & cage women for engaging in such whorish behavior.

Greta will be uplifted, adored, venerated, and worshipped my canine friend don’t you worry. Tis the way of the world. The truth is that a society led by children is deeply pathological and most likely close to death, despite the endearing veneer. It’s just another stunt within a long and continuous string of stunts to continue pushing a mainstream and very establishment narrative. The use of children and adolescents for propaganda is one of the oldest tools in the propaganda toolkit.

    I found this—-

Mexico’s rulers, they pretty much are whites, or at least, of white European ancestry (Spain).

Agreed with the rest of your post though, the main point being that non-whites certainly won’t be able to run America.

Speaking of Mexico, I was down there recently and couldn’t help but notice that all the people in the commercials and advertisements were all white.

    Not a single negro, LOL!

It was f*cking refreshing and even my kids noticed it right away.

Then, as soon as I come back up here to clown-world America, it’s back to seeing 80% of the commercials and ads being filled with blacks.

    • SoftStarLight August 27, 2019 at 2:24 am #

The demographics don’t support you yet. But I know you are very anxious for that day to come. Should Blacks be the majority in South Africa or do you support the reduction of all majorities to minority status? Why do I get the feeling that your viewpoint on this is very one-sided?

        • JohnAZ August 27, 2019 at 10:31 am #

Baloney. Blacks comprise 12.6% of our population. In 1960, they were 12.2%. They have controlled their birth rate very well, like Whites. 0bama was a product of the “Promote Blackness” PR group. One thing about being the majority group in a society is the apathy it breeds, that is until someone comes along to challenge your culture.

Blacks and Whites are a common culture in this country. We come from the same roots and the same history. Black genealogy in the US comes from the same time period as White genealogy. A common bond Exists between the two groups. That is why the BLM groups, Al Sharpton et al are all so destructive. Their tie in with the Leftist White Elite in subjugating the Black population is finally coming to light.

The Democrats operate in one major way to maintain power. They promise the world, in the form of money and social progress to Blacks, election after election but then produce nothing. Blacks are getting wise to this. They are also getting wise to the Deep State in DC, for all the same reasons. Promises, promises with no results. The Blacks key to success is to cast their lot with the common culture, of which they are part, and climb the ladder out of poverty like every other group has. As individuals helping each other. Kneeling, making fists, burning flags are 100% counterproductive and only show ignorance of the forces trying to separate the public. Showing disrespect to the national symbols and ideals is really stupid as these ideals are what are going to pull up the Blacks. The Kaepernick syndrome is the most destructive force against the Blacks yet as it is driving national interest away from the primary social elevator for the Black community, sports.

The real enemies of Whites are not Black in color. The number one are the Leftist White Elite who utilize reverse racism to maintain the allegiance of the Browns and Blacks. The Dems have cast their lot with the ascent of the Browns into majority status. The Blacks have not increased their share of the population and are increasingly becoming ignored by the Dems in favor of the Latino immigrants coming through the border. Soon, the Blacks are going to realize how badly they have been played by the White Leftist elite and will do something about it at the ballot box.

The Dems Achilles heel is the fact that as people succeed in their lives here, they leave the tax and spend Dems behind. So the Dems need an uninterrupted flow of new recruits, hence open borders. If Trump gets the wall to work, the Dem’s modus operandi is history.

          • JohnAZ August 27, 2019 at 10:46 am #

And Whites, the Blacks or Browns are not our mortal enemies. The Leftist White Elite is. They are the group that are dividing the country’s ethnic groups to maintain power. They are the ones fostering reverse racism to inflame the divisions in the country. They are the ones promoting inflammatory rhetoric being taught in colleges to promote discord. They are the ones that promote invasions of indigent folks into our borders illicitly.

It is about time that the average Joes of this country to start aiming their weapons at the right people; all the Joes, White, Black and Brown. (And Red, and Yellow and everybody in between). The Deep State is the enemy of this country. It is dominated by the Leftist White Elite but definitely has some really dumb RINOs in it too.

In 2020, vote against the Deep State in all ways. Destroy their little enclave on the Potomac. People of the US, take your country back from these parasites.

          • SoftStarLight August 27, 2019 at 11:06 am #

While I agree with you that the White Elites are basically mortal enemies I don’t agree that all of the racial groups within the country are going to harmonize under one economic system. Life is more than money. Though money determines much about life, at least right now. Blood is thicker than water. The problem is most ordinary Whites have no sense of race or culture. This is the result of decades of intense and focused indoctrination and revisionist history. Blacks and Browns lack this same pathology and thus have healthier group dynamics. As resources become constrained subgroups within the larger culture are going to consolidate and attempt to hold onto pieces of power as well as resources. At some point in time people will have to come to grips with the fact that this popular notion of a race-less, culture-less America that is solely based on Capitalist economic arrangements doesn’t exist and has never really existed at all in the first place. It’s just a product of deep indoctrination and like literal hypnosis.

          • JohnAZ August 27, 2019 at 11:39 am #

            SSL

America is more than economics. Economics is the basis as people having wealth is the core of a society. Societies that have shelved this basic axiom litter the historical ash heap.

Common culture is more than economics. Music, food, communication, transportation, politics, social etiquette, vacations etc are all elements of the culture.

I went out to get Mexican food, in my Pickup truck, listening to Michael Jackson on the radio, talking in English to my wife on a cell phone, talking about going to Europe in the fall.

This is usual culture behavior in the US.

Instead of allowing the Leftist Elite to try to separate us, we need to embrace this mixture of cultures we call America and all of us celebrate each other’s contributions.

By the way, the one thing that will divide a common culture is its people’s inability to talk to each other. Common language is the core of culture.

The rest of the world is mostly ethnically separated. Japan is Japanese, China Chinese, France French, Germany German etc, etc.

American is all the Above. We are a conglomerate. We are tossed salad. Many cultures have joined the original English outcast culture that formed America. We have been enrichened by this assimilation. The American Culture is not White, not Black, not Latino, it is all the above.

We need to stop being a conglomerate, a tossed salad and work on becoming an alloy. Stop being a mixture and become a compound. Stick a spear in ethnocentrism’s heart.

I am a dreamer, I know. But if the American Dream is not realized, schism will be the result. And we will have lost mankind’s last chance.

Blacks have very different tastes and outlooks than Whites. Very, very few ever really assimilate or can. The ones with the intellect and drive to make it economically seldom assimilate either. That’s the real proof that you dream is a silly fantasy. And any attempt to implement quickly becomes a nightmare.

You obviously don’t know many or any Blacks.

            >>> American is all the Above. We are a conglomerate. We are tossed salad. Many cultures have joined the original English outcast culture that formed America. We have been enrichened by this assimilation. The American Culture is not White, not Black, not Latino, it is all the above.

This is the specious argument of the Left.

Thanks to the Left, we’re no longer an “assimilating” melting pot or even pretend to be. Multiculturalism has weakened the common bonds needed for a stable polity. Evidence of this increasing fragility and instability is reflected in the Left’s near overt rejection of the last POTUS election results. We nearly experienced a coup d’état!

            >>> We need to stop being a conglomerate, a tossed salad and work on becoming an alloy. Stop being a mixture and become a compound.

Steel—all steel—is mostly iron. The moment iron content drops below 50.1%, it’s no longer steel. And in the most common steels, the iron content is well above 90%.

Well the “iron” in the USA is white European culture. And we see what happens to cities when it drops below 50.1%. The stats are undeniable.

You are a sadly deluded & confused soul, JohnAZ. “Soon the blacks are going to realize…” yada yada. Yeah, sure they will. Any decade now. It appears, judging from your comments that, being very well-off financially, going on trips to Europe & such, that you can afford to be a cuckold, thinking very well of yourself & maintaining a smug self-satisfaction in your babblings as none of this decay is going to affect you personally before you check out of here.

            Janos and Tate

I have known a few Blacks in my lifetime and for the most part they have been okay but definitely in their own realm. I have not had a lot of contact in the past twenty years or so, I may not have the same opinion today. Also, I have never lived in a majority Black area.

I do think however as the MAIN point of my post stated, that unless the people, all the people in the US cannot get together in a common culture, this country as it was conceived is doomed. I do believe that the Founding Fathers were divinely inspired to come up with the concepts that form the Constitution, and I believe that we are going down fast in the eyes of God.

You can call my babbling whatever you want Tate, I believe in this country and hope that things can come together. Janos, I believe that the English core common culture is the way to go and anyone who cannot believe in that culture needs to find somewhere else to live. If blacks cannot adapt to it, go elsewhere. With only 12% of the population, if they do not assimilate, they will be history somewhere else.

          • Janos Skorenzy August 27, 2019 at 8:30 pm #

Divinely inspired? So why don’t you believe them in regards to Blacks and Indians? Why do you think you know better?

They would have laughed you to scorn with your ideas of racial equality. And btw, they knew the Chinese and the Hindus had incredible civilizations – and that they didn’t belong here either. The Founders were “bigots” but not ignorant bigots. And thus perhaps not bigots at all. Depends on how narrowly or broadly you want to define the term.

Visa scandal – Hillary strikes back?

I never managed to write about Trump at G-7 and Putin’s invitation to the US, as well as about the US trade war with China and the usual US war with Iran from the point of view of theory of World Projects, including because I would have to rake such Augean stables of propaganda that layered on these issues over many, many years, that the task of complex analysis is becoming difficult to do, and I can only highlight some of the details of these events.

For example, the fact that Trump’s anti-Danish escapades are actually the visible part of the iceberg, and under the water there are rare earth metal deposits in Greenland that China is trying to lay its hands on.

And China already controls three quarters of the global mining of these metals, which determine the development of the gadget economy, and the attempt to lay hands on the deposits in Greenland is China’s declaration of war on destruction to the United States, which China is going to lose.

Rather, China has already lost, but the fact of the matter is that in this instance China acts contrary to its own interests.

China was forced to do this in order to generate a second wave of the global economic crisis.

But the most important thing is that now even events such as the G-7 are the periphery of world politics, the epicenter of which is the investigation by the Department of Justice of Jeffrey Epstein and the beginning of the Mueller investigation, including Steel’s dossier on Trump, a significant part of which was fabricated in Moscow.

Naturally Hillary’s Flying Monkeys, who could go to jail for a very long time, will hinder this, trying to prevent the cooperation of people conducting an investigation in the United States with investigators in Moscow who could bring them to those people in Medvedev’s inner circle who provided a former MI6 employee Kristoffer Steele materials for his dossier.

Moreover, the provision of these materials to Steele was a crime not only against Trump, but primarily against Russia and against Putin, since it was the Steele dossier that ultimately caused sanctions against Russia, which caused many billions of dollars in lost revenues.

And in this situation, Senator Johnson, who played a decisive role in initiating a case to investigate the beginning of Mueller investigation, is denied a Russian visa.

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/sen-ron-johnson-says-he-was-denied-visa-for-congressional-delegation-visit-to-russia/2019/08/26/9b9526b8-c84b-11e9-be05-f76ac4ec618c_story.html

Since China manufacturers 3 quarters o the worlds gadgets, it controlling three quarters of the mining of rare earth metals is insignificant.
There is no reason to worry about a war with china. there is no way a war with china cannot go nuclear. since there is no way to survive that, there is no reason to worry about it.
The rest of the world has seen how well we did in Iraq. which is slightly better than we did in Detroit.

The great enemy the folks face in both causes you mention is the same, the political machine of the Deep State.

Please re-read your own statement one more time – it does not make any sense whatsoever. What if they made 100% of gadgets – you want to allow them to control 100% of the rare earths ??!!

There is no reason to worry about a war with china. there is no way a war with china cannot go nuclear. since there is no way to survive that, there is no reason to worry about it.

First of all, I was talking about economic, not nuclear war.

Secondly, your statement that “there is no way to survive that, there is no reason to worry about it” is completely absurd.

I have long suspected ADL to be under the Hillary’s Flying Monkeys.

For example, Abraham Foxman does not consider “the humiliation of the Holocaust” the Putin-Hitler analogy used by US Secretary of State Clinton as a political weapon.

Although, in fact, everything is exactly the opposite: Abraham Foxman, the director of the League behind these accusations, does not understand that his words offend the Russian people – the nation that did the most to end the Holocaust and defeat Hitler’s Germany.

Every country was founded by one group of humans kicking the hell out of another group. He who is the strongest wins. History is written by winners. The losers are usually dead. The zealous Jews are very ethnocentritic which is opposite what America needs for a common culture. This Jewish Supremacy is what alienates gentiles from accepting them. People in a common culture get along as one group does not think it is superior to another.

I agree with your first three sentences zealously. The fourth is so so since that is not always the case, and then after that your argument completely unravels for me. First of all, honestly, I respect the zealous ethnocentric Jews. At least they are honest with themselves and respect natural law. It does not alienate me from them at all, since after all, that is what being a separate and distinct people really is all about. There is no such thing as a common culture among distinct ethnic groups. I mean, yeah there is or can be, but it is a matter of degrees and relativity. There will always be the natural inclination for in group preference no matter how much you program people. Because it is natural. And then you have culture, customs and language to deal with. The thriving and successful multicultural, multiracial empire held together solely by economic ethics is a myth and has always been a myth John.

Tabaddor was triggered by a news roundup in her email in-basket, which mentioned the blogpost by Federale, criticizing her role as a ‘kritarch’ & as not being neutral on the immigration cases coming before her but rather a radical asylum advocate. She complained of ‘anti-semitism’, because of use of the term ‘kritarch’ even though the term ‘kritarch’ has nothing to do with jews (& she’s of Iranian extraction in any case). Hopefully, the DOJ will decertify her illegal union on the basis of national security, not managerial status.

In any event, since when, who & how did & does the ADL & the SPLC get appointed as arbiters of who can stay & who gets banned from You Tube? It seems unfair. Hopefully Bill Barr’s DOJ will move aggressively to impose restrictions on the rampant abuse of this power.

JS:Old lady “White Nationalist” gets bullied out of race for city council, all because she wanted her city to stay the same, namely White. Instead of explaining why they wanted to change it, she is supposed to explain why she doesn’t want it change. The “onus” or taboo is on her in other words. All the hypocrites in the room gasped and made big O’s with their mouths when she just talked decency and commonsense.

Marysville is doomed – just like the rest of America.

Here then hear if you have ears to hear and eyes to see. The words below are those of the Prophet, Anglin.

Last week, a Michigan woman running for city council came out and said she’d rather keep her community white.

The initial reporting on this was very unclear, and it made it sound like she just came out of nowhere with this statement. In actual fact, the city was involved in a discussion about purposefully bringing in nonwhites to create “diversity,” and her “keep it white” statements were made in the context of opposition to that.

Now, after a campaign of bullying by the Jewish media, she has dropped out of the race.

    New York Times:

A City Council candidate in Michigan who drew criticism and national attention last week for saying her community should be kept white “as much as possible” officially withdrew from the race on Monday.

The candidate, Jean Cramer, who was running for a seat on the Marysville City Council, hand-delivered a one-sentence letter to City Hall in the afternoon. It read: “I am writing this letter to withdraw as a City Council candidate for the Marysville City Council election on Nov. 5, 2019.”

At a candidates’ forum on Thursday, the moderator asked whether the community should be more aggressive in attracting foreign-born residents. Ms. Cramer replied that Marysville should be a “white community as much as possible” with “no foreign people,” drawing audible gasps from fellow candidates.

They are at least now making it clear that she was prompted.

Of course, now it doesn’t matter because she’s already been bullied into submission by the toxic network of Jewish supremacist media.

On Friday, Ms. Cramer expanded on her views to The Times Herald, a local newspaper. She said that interracial marriages were a “big problem,” citing the Bible, and insisted she was not racist. She told reporters that she had no plans to drop out of the race.

Marysville, which is about 55 miles northeast of Detroit, has a population of less than 10,000, and around 95 percent of it is white, according to census figures.

Mayor Dan Damman, who is not seeking re-election, said he appreciated Ms. Cramer’s withdrawing from the race.

“My hope is that she realizes that with her ideology she is not fit for office in Marysville or anywhere else,” he said.

I don’t know if she has an ideology, but her statements certainly were not representative of an ideology – she was talking about a purely practical matter.

Mass immigration and race replacement changes the entire landscape of a city.

    For example:
•You no longer feel comfortable around your neighbors
•You have to hear foreign languages everywhere you go
•These incoming foreigners are often violent and commit other forms of crime
•They have strange customs, which alter cultural dynamics
•They take over public spaces with their own shops
•They often crowd around on the streets
•When their numbers reach a certain level, they start to exert dominance over the native population

And so on and on and on. You do not need to be an adherent of any ideology in order to recognize these as the absolute definition of “practical concerns.”

Meanwhile, in order to think that it is a good idea to forcibly diversify a place, you must be an ideological adherent to the rigid and brutal dogma of multiculturalism, given that there are no practical benefits to mass immigration (assuming you’re not a wealthy businessman trying to drive down wages and/or create a housing crisis).

As I said in my previous article on Ms. Cramer’s situation: the people calling for the immigrants are the ones pushing an agenda. “I just want things to remain how they are” is not an agenda. As such, the burden to explain why this is good is on the people pushing for the radical transformation of our homes, and it is the right of the people who live in the towns and cities of this country to say that they do not want their homes to be radically transformed.

We used to have a good country.

We had a good country that was built by good men where good families could raise healthy children who would go on to raise their own families.

It was a beautiful and magical place.

We had a very good thing. And it is almost completely gone now, not because we chose to give it up, but because it was taken from us as an effect of what experts refer to as the “Global Jewish Crisis.”

    • Janos Skorenzy August 27, 2019 at 2:27 pm #

Well, historians of the distant & maybe even intermediate-term future will be scratching their heads trying to understand the cultural suicide of America. Ever hear the term “Weimerica?” That captures it pretty well. (So may be there’s hope after all?)

The sources of the distemper aren’t hard to find. I’ve written here before:

      1) unassimilable ethnic groups
      2) sexual deviants
      3) privileged misfits

There’s a synergy when these forces combine, all having aligned interests in bringing to ruin the existing order. The thorn becomes a wedge, then a fluvial plume of toxic pus hard to staunch. As Hemingway said in ‘The Sun Also Rises’ when asked to explain his bankruptcy, paraphrasing: “It happened slowly, then all at once.”

      • Janos Skorenzy August 27, 2019 at 4:52 pm #

I think you are right. The Satanist are an amalgam of one and two. The Tribe is all three – individuals excepted of course.

The beautiful Mariel Hemingway wasn’t satisfied with her boyish chest – she wanted huge boobs. So she got them. Did it make her happy? Or was she the one who also committed suicide?

They forcefully took away the beauty and magic. Just like with everything else in life practically with the mind control and propaganda. Retreating and backing away is the problem. Ms. Cramer should have stayed for the long haul until they forced her out of the race. I am sure she was concerned about the possibility of additional exposure which would lead to the inevitable death threats and acts of vandalism and violence on her personal property and potentially her family. We seriously are ruled over by domestic terrorists and occupiers. We don’t even have a right to our own communities or beliefs anymore. Would there have been a ton of gasps if a Muslim said that Muslims could only marry Muslims? Of course not since its in the Koran. That would be considered an act of religious freedom and diversity. And anyone who would have gasped would have probably been detained for White Supremacy.

Yes that is true. Anyone making such a commitment must know the hell that is coming their way so I do respect the efforts. Maybe one day I will try too as I have thought about it before. We must stop the creeping decay right away before anything can get better. I’m hoping the backlash is helping to at least slow some of it down somewhat right now.

Didn’t read the article, but not surprised as the panic mounts to the character of a witch hunt to stamp out ‘evil racism’ wherever it may arise.

Maybe the lady was set up by the moderator who asked the question to begin with. Why would some little podunk town want to bring in a passel of “vibrant enrichers” anyway? It makes me very suspicious of the background of that person who was the moderator. S/he/it/xem probably had already sounded the panel out & knew something of her views beforehand, & thought it would be good publicity for this town?

That wouldn’t surprise me if it was a political hit job so to speak. The “Resistance” is well funded and well organized and part of their strategy is to try to change things incrementally at the local and national level simultaneously. And as far as they are concerned, in that process dissent must be crushed and silenced.

Whether Ms. Cramer had racist intent or not, I don’t care, but I would agree with her that any change in the community should be natural, rather than sought after or even pursued by the community’s government. Que sera, sera.

But the rabid paranoia of having people come into one’s community who are ‘different’ is hard to swallow. Feeling ‘less safe’, having to ‘hear other languages spoken’ etc are held up as infringements on their rights. Bullshit.

I finally watched “American Factory” on Netflix after getting some reco’s up-stream.

    Horrific.

No wonder America has lost its manufacturing mojo. ‘Leaner, smarter, faster’ comes to mind when thinking of the vast gulf that separates us from them. The monkey-faced Chinese tycoon obviously is trying to plant some of his capital away from the mainland before the CCP discovers the inevitable graft that got him to where he is.

It would have been funny if not for how pathetic it was watching the obese, down-dressing Americans trying to fit in on their visit to company HQ in China.

We only have two things going for us at this point in time. One is real estate, the most valuable geopolitically on earth (& don’t think the Chinaman wouldn’t want to get his hands on it if he could.) Two is #2A, & 150 million (number?) gun owners, a sizable proportion of whom are very adept in all aspects of small arms use. Think 4G warfare.

Nevertheless, the Chinese & perhaps a coalition of them & assorted allies, will be sorely tempted by the predominating Rascal riders they see inhabiting this country’s heartland, to say nothing of the coastal hipster denizens.

I remember back in the day when the Japs took over Petersboro, NH. Everybody freaked out because that was the setting of Thorton Wilder’s play ‘Our Town’. Here we are, 4 decades after Pearl Harbor, and the Japs are running the show, or so the thinking went. Well, it turns out the Japs didn’t hang around long; as soon as their ‘miracle economy’ went south in the 90s, that Japs hightailed it back to Tokyo.

And as soon as a Chinese missile slams into one of our carriers or a torpedo from a fast attack US sub sends a Chinese destroyer to the bottom of the Straights of Taiwan, the ‘American’ factory will be closed up tight, and the obese American workers you describe will be forming up in line at the unemployment office.

If we could find a way to remove all of the lawyers and tedious regulations from the equation we could probably be just as lean, smart, and fast as the Chinese. Next, obesity needs to be treated like any other addiction. If it is due to thyroid issues, diabetes, etc., that is one thing. But for a normal, able bodied person to be obese is an unacceptable and immoral state. If we approached personal habits like this in such a manner I am sure there would be a big improvement over time.

      • Majella August 28, 2019 at 8:09 pm #

INteresting – one of the Chinese managers explained that, because he has little time to eat at work, he eats Twinkies – 2 at a time, 4 times a day…obesity is in his very near future, thanks to US’s coporate ‘food’ culture.

        • SoftStarLight August 29, 2019 at 2:18 am #

So wait. You are blaming US “corporate food culture” for the obesity of a man who chooses to eat twinkies for lunch? I seriously doubt twinkies are the only option don’t you? I mean gee, replace the twinkie with a protein bar or something for starters. Healthcare is best when proactive so living as healthy and as actively as one can and eating healthier helps. I would imagine that you would agree?

Absolutely! That’d be my advice to him too, but in fact, he was eating Twinkies – empty calories made tasty by added sugar & salt.

“corporate food culture” – the local supermarket is CHOCKA with this stuff – edible shite that would survive a nuclear blast, probably, along with the cockroaches.

And outside the supermarket, if an “average ‘Murican” decides to eat at a ‘restaurant’, then there’s pretty much the same thing at all the hamburger chains and pizza palaces.

He LOVED his Twinkies – they come pre-packaged and are quick ad easy to eat, cost 5/8ths of f.a.; and are tasty…also, addictive, I’d say, in his case.

Hence, my prediction of his FUTURE fun with obesity & Type II diabetes and all that those issues entail. Thanks, General Foods!

From The Z-man on the subject of ‘Conservative, Inc’:

    August 27, 2019

The sorry state of American conservatism is a regular topic in dissident circles, mostly because [of] the decaying carcass of Conservative Inc… It staggers on mostly because of donor money that keeps the various rackets going. For how long is unknown, as the source of that money is now quite old.

An example is the recently dead David Koch. A long time libertarian fanatic, he and his brother poured tens of millions into so-called conservatism. They kept Reason Magazine afloat and helped set up its finances so it will persist after the Koch brothers are gone… Neocon money on one side and Koch brother’s money on the other defined post-Cold War conservatism.

The trouble with this structure is it operated like a vice, squeezing everything useful out of the Right, leaving nothing but pens for hire, career men and fanatics. What was squeezed from conservatism was any reason to support it. On the one hand, it wished to turn men into moist robots serving the economy [Libertarianism]. On the other it sought to convince Americans they had to be cannon fodder in the national pursuits of Israel [Neoconservatism]. Its political pitch to white Americans was reduced to, “But the Left is much worse.”

You see the emptiness of conservatism in this Kevin Williamson post about how David Koch was supposedly on the Right. The post itself is mostly about Williamson, who has taken to writing like a teenage girl of late. Everything is about his feelings now. Putting that aside, his claim for placing David Koch on the Right, and presumably libertarians as a whole, is that he liked ballet. This is supposedly evidence of his love for high culture, which according to Williamson is the exclusive domain of the Right…

Koch’s alleged love for this mystical thing [high culture] supersedes his support for open borders and globalism, not to mention his support for Progressive causes like homosexual marriage and abortion on demand.

Another reason co-called conservatives were happy to call Koch a right-winger is the Left was happy to call him a right-winger. The best maneuver in the Progressive playbook is to select the leaders of their opponents…

In the case of the Koch brothers, the Left was happy to make them the bad guys, as they were never going to be a threat. Instead, they would pour millions into conservative operations, which would happily purge themselves of social conservatives and skeptics of global capitalism. That neocon – libertarian sandwich that was conservatism, became the other slice of the Progressive sandwich that controls American politics. The choice is a libertarian warmonger or a Progressive fanatic. That’s democracy!

The end result of that neocon – libertarian vice is that so-called conservatism was stripped of its intellectual core, as well as [of] its connection to its intellectual history. Rather than a defense of tradition and the moral order, conservatism became a public relations department for the plutocrats financing them…

In fairness, their dancing partner is no better. It largely goes unremarked, but the Left is every bit as intellectually vacant as conservatism. They are silent on global capitalism and silent on the ramifications of the post-national order. They are entirely incoherent on why they support the things they support. The conservative case for men in dresses is ridiculous, but looks erudite compared to the Progressive case…

Perhaps this is just the natural transition from one historic cycle to the next. We are arguably at the end of several long historic cycles. The Enlightenment, the Industrial Age and the American Empire are all reaching a denouement…

I agree; as an act of “climate activism”, this little stunt is about as compelling as Sanders standing at the threshold of his private jet, telling us we need to reduce our carbon footprint.

That being said, evidence of anthropogenic climate change is strong. What is not strong is the claim that we know what’s going to happen next, or that we can do anything about it.

        Consider this…

The world is literally a greener place than it was 20 years ago

Any climatologists predict this? Prediction is the gold standard of science, and climatologists and their Lefty adherents (who really want to use any calamity to grow government) have shown time and again that their theories lack predictive power.

          Well thank you, Exscotticus.

From your article (which of course predates the current Amazon carnage over which Bolsonaro shrugs his shoulders):

data from NASA satellites has revealed a counterintuitive source for much of this new foliage: China and India. A new study shows that the two emerging countries with the world’s biggest populations are leading the increase in greening on land. The effect stems mainly from ambitious tree planting programs in China and intensive agriculture in both countries.”

A nice change from ‘there’s no point in doing anything because China and India’.

        • GreenAlba August 28, 2019 at 12:39 pm #

          “Any climatologists predict this?”

Why would they predict that China and India would lead the planting of new forests? Are they meant to be mind readers too?

Read the enitre article. “China and India account for one-third of the greening”. And the other two-thirds?

Why does oxygen remain near constant at 21%? Even as CO2 has gone from a fraction of 1% to a larger fraction of 1%? No one knows. There are clearly balancing mechanisms at play here that are not understood.

One thing we do know is that the recent fires in Brazil alone cancel out years worth of “climate saving” efforts by liberals.

            >>> Years’ worth of climate saving efforts by ‘liberals’ have therefore prevented the overall situation from being even worse.

Wrong way of looking at it. Assuming these mostly virtue-signalling efforts even achieve their intended goals, and that’s debatable, the overall result is harmful, as they provide a false sense of progress and accomplishment, and divert from taking actions that might actually have a real impact.

It’s rather like someone bleeding to death from serious lacerations patting themself on the back because they applied a Band-Aid. And then arguing, “Think how much worse it would be without the Band-Aid!”

          • GreenAlba August 28, 2019 at 7:05 pm #

What has a plastic bag ban got to do with ‘climate saving efforts’? I’m talking about reductions in CO2 emissions.

People who put dog poo in supermarket bags leave me speechless. I buy biodegradable ones which are the right size for the purpose. On the other hand, charging for plastic bags, in both the UK and Ireland, has reduced the number used by 85-90%. But reducing the amount of plastic crap is an entirely different aim from mitigating climate change.

Biodegradable bags are easily available for dog poop, food recycling bins and the like. There is, of course, no cure for stupid or for lazy. My corner shop has converted to biodegradable single use bags too for shopping too, even though it charges for them, which is fine by me, as I usually go with a backpack. And the odd one comes in handy, as you mention, for other things. but it’s still biodegradable.

          • Exscotticus August 29, 2019 at 1:28 am #

GreenAlba, whether it’s banning plastic bags or banning plastic straws or driving a Tesla (previously a Prius)—it’s all virtue-signalling bullshit. Do you really believe any of these armchair SJWs truly care? If they did, then they’d be willing to undergo true adversity. Listen to the Left flipping out over the possibility that Trump’s tariffs might actually cause a fractional increase in prices. OMG! These are the sort of people who fly jets to attend a climate change conference. Speaking of which, how is Climate Change Yacht Girl Greta planning to get home? We already know that, “…several people would fly into New York to help take the yacht back to Europe.”

Returning to reality, consult your favorite we-know-everything climate change website and explain why atmospheric oxygen remains at 21% while CO2 is rising. Think about it. Carbon needs what to become CO2? What is that thing called? OXYGEN. Twice as much. So you would expect a decrease in 21% to get an increase in CO2. That’s not happening. Why?

Scientists (and, by extension, politicians) don’t have the answers. Yet they presume to offer solutions?! And those solutions just happen to involve sacrifices for YOU and not for THEM? Sacrifices that grow government and curtail civil liberties? Goose step yourself off a cliff if you want; this homey don’t play like that.

            Exscotticus

You are so full of bad faith that you can’t even accept a good thing as a good thing. I have no idea who first campaigned in the UK for the banning of plastic bags, so their virtue signalling efforts seem to have been wasted. It became a goal supported by the public, which is why it eventually succeeded. The fact that there are fewer plastic bags is a good thing, whoever was behind it. But it has nothing whatever to do with our climate woes.

You also like to mix up scientists, liberals, politicians, SJWs etc. as if they were one and the same and all telling you to do something.

Returning to reality, consult your favorite we-know-everything climate change website and explain why atmospheric oxygen remains at 21% while CO2 is rising.

Linked from my ‘favourite we-know-everything climate change website’ (which doesn’t claim it knows everything, otherwise science would, you know…stop).

            https://skepticalscience.com/co2-increase-is-natural-not-human-caused.htm

            Atmospheric O2 is Decreasing

“Burning carbon requires oxygen (O2), and when we burn an atom of carbon, the required oxygen becomes part of the CO2 molecule. So if the CO2 increase is caused by burning carbon (fossil fuels), we would expect atmospheric O2 levels to decrease at the same rate. And that’s indeed what we observe (Figure 1).

No virtue signalling necessary. You just buy them online in complete confidence so no-one knows. I see lots of people with them, so it sure ain’t just me.

You can buy them to fit food waste bins too and compost bins. Unnecessary for (kitchen) compost bins of course as you can just line them with newspaper instead, which your compost likes anyway. Or nothing at all, which just involves a bit of extra scraping out.

Nobody sees that either, so no anti-virtue-signalling neurosis involved.

I agree with you that a certain cohort of people use recycling and suchlike as a displacement activity to lessen their guilt at discretionary air and car miles. They’re not everybody. And recycling – and reduction of waste in the first place – are still necessary activities that need to be promoted. Recyling rates in the UK are abysmal compared to those in parts of continental Europe, basically because large swaths of the British public are lazy, feckless f*ckers.

And however annoying you might find Aspie Greta, she’s getting attention for the issue she and a lot of people want to see attention on. It makes a change from reading about nasty specimens like Epstein. And she wasn’t doing the school strike on her own or just in her country. Don’t blame them for trying – it’s their future.

Correction: not the *banning* of plastic bags, obviously, just charging for them, which has an observable effect, like taxing alcohol or petrol/diesel does on the level of their consumption.

People should pay the external costs of their consumption, when that is feasible.

          • Nightowl August 29, 2019 at 8:48 am #

            Exscot,

IMO your thinking is too black and white. There are plenty of “liberals” who do actually care about this stuff and do genuinely make efforts to change things in feasible ways.

My wife and I have been recycling everything for well over a decade and we wash and reuse Glad-type kitchen bags and other items that would normally get thrown out. Our power and gas bills never exceed about 15-20 euros a month (for a 125 qm house), and were even lower when we still lived in the states.

I am skeptical of much of the data we see on climate change, but operate under the idea that polluting the one planet that can sustain us is rather unintelligent. Plus, I am a nature lover.

That said, industrial pollution is the problem that should be tackled first, and there is very little being done about it when big profits are involved. China currently has free reign to pollute as much as it wants and the numbers on CO2 output, etc. are staggering.

“China currently has free reign to pollute as much as it wants and the numbers on CO2 output, etc. are staggering.”

And yet way, way below per capita output in the US. Or Australia, or Canada. Or some of the ME countries.

The answer to that is generally, ‘but China is huge, so it matters more’, to which one might logically reply that the UK only contributes about 2% of the problem so we should all just do what the heck we like. Instead of which many of us, including even in government, think we should do our bit because it’s the right thing to do and it’s leading by example (for the eternal cynics, of course, that’s virtue signalling. You simply can’t win with cynics).

But I applaud your recycling efforts and hope there will always be nature for you to love.

Nearly 30-odd years ago I washed nappy liners as well as terry nappies and reused them. They were meant to be ‘disposable’, which I presume meant you were supposed to chuck them in the toilet with their contents. I imagine that would have contributed to the fatberg phenomenon we currently have in large part because of people who can’t manage without plastic-based ‘wet wipes’, a technology we used to ’emulate’ retrospectively with a ruddy cloth and some water.

Anyway. for my pains and the virtue signalling that was known only to me, I wrecked my first washing machine, because some of the nappy liners got behind the drum and the bearings rusted. Law of unintended consequences. I should have bought one of those zipped laundry bag thingies for ‘delicates’, which I hadn’t heard of at the time (like I said, first washing machine).

The original, non-disposable nappy liners were made of muslin and made excellent window cleaning cloths in the fullness of time. The terry nappies did 2-3 children and made excellent cleaning cloths for the pre-wet-wipe generation. My mother had a few of them left, which she got from me, when my kids were teenagers.

I’m no great example of waste avoidance, but I can’t help hating it. And I didn’t get it from green virtue signallers in the sententious seventies – I got it from my parents who were the waste-not-want-not war generation and couldn’t abide waste.

@GreenAlba, you’ll have to do better than that! Yes O2 levels are dropping—as they have been for thousands of years. Nothing to do with the recent rise in CO2. And, yes, there are seasonal variations and so forth—all less than 1%.

Oxygen remains at 21% despite 100+ years of burning fossil fuels. There is clearly some kind of hysteresis and buffering going on. Scientists don’t have the answers.

@Nightowl, of course I’m speaking in generalities; there are some liberals who are willing to make difficult sacrifices, just as there are some conservatives who would nuke a forest to toast marshmallows.

Severely restricting air travel is an obvious choice for addressing climate change and environmental pollution in general. We know this for a fact, since an impromptu “experiment” happened on 9/11, when all commercial flights in the USA were grounded. It had an IMMEDIATE and DRAMATIC effect on air quality.

Unfortunately, the obvious choice is not the easiest. The implementation would almost certainly involve “congestion pricing”—a tax to price air travel beyond the range of most could afford. So air travel would become a luxury option for the wealthy and privileged, with some exceptions for things like subsidized medical emergencies. In other words: highly inequitable—something liberals aren’t very good at accepting.

          • GreenAlba August 29, 2019 at 12:46 pm #

“And, yes, there are seasonal variations and so forth—all less than 1%.”

Why would you expect the differences to be great than 1% when the total percentage of CO2 in the atmosphere is 0.04%, compared to oxygen at 20.95%. What percentage decrease in oxygen were you looking for?

            https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/if-carbon-dioxide-makes-u/

          • Exscotticus August 29, 2019 at 4:16 pm #

Point taken. As it is, CO2 comprises such a fractionally small percentage of the atmospere, even doubling it wouldn’t result in a corresponding reduction in O2 that exceeds 1%.

If you really want to terrify the public, stop talking about rising CO2, and start talking about falling oxygen levels.

          • Nightowl August 29, 2019 at 6:08 pm #

            Green,

Per capita that is true, but China emits more overall. They emit as much as the EU and the US combined the last time I checked.

My point isn’t to absolve or demonize any particular country, but it is to show that if the idea of manmade climate change is to be taken seriously, then China cannot be given the green light to pollute to its heart’s desire by those politicians shouting loudest about climate change. We had a previous thread on this, and IMO, there isn’t much else to add.

Industrial pollution and as Ex mentioned, air travel, are some of the largest contributors to the problem. I wish everyone thought like we do on a micro level, but even if they did, I suspect the impact would be less than if we solved the problem of industry first.

    Well, ladies and germs;

A fun fact about our medical costs.

Wife was diagnosed with bladder cancer…currently sans a bladder but with two ostomy bags. She started her first round of chemotherapy today…an 8-hour infusion of toxins. Well, at the end of the session the RN comes to us with this little box about the size of a pack of tic-tacs. Its purpose is to auto inject, at a later (27) hour timeline, a medicine who’s purpose is to help rebuild the body’s immunity…that which the chemotherapy destroys. It is a one time use, fire and forget device…attached to the skin with adhesive tape. Apparently everyone with cancer taking chemotherapy receives one of these each time they have a “session” Perhaps a hundred thousand of them are used every month.

Oh…and the cost of the little one time use device (according to the RN)? $14,000. Each.
The wife is scheduled for 6 sessions…do the math.

How much of the $84K is covered by insurance?

    • JohnAZ August 27, 2019 at 11:19 pm #

Before the little box was developed, I believe neupogen May have been available as injections, maybe. I believe I would ask for a second choice, if it still available.

I just had cataract surgery in both eyes. They prescribed an antibiotic drop that was going to cost $280. My insurance took exception and a substitute was made that cost less than $10.

If someone was wanting to find collusion, look at the Doctor-Pharm connection. Those drug salesmen make big salaries.

Good luck to your wife and best wishes to you.

        Tate, et al;

Thank you for the concern, but we are making the best of the situation. Insurance? Medicare A, B, and type F rider. Should be no cost, or at least none has been mentioned. Lifetime limit? who knows…we could go to penury… from relative to actual.

Caring for an ostomy patient is not a big deal…just adopt the professional bedside manner used by doctors and RNs…there are so many indignities suffered by patients, that after-care should not be one of them…and so far, no issues…treat the situation as a new normal.

Just re-positioning of the orifices…with no control…but with the ostomy products, properly applied, mitigating much of the issues. Patient angst remains, but recedes after 6 months, or so, as I am told.

When you get over 70…stuff happens… we deal with it.

        Thanks, again, for your concern.

          EF

My best wishes too for your wife’s recovery and for resilience during the unpleasant chemo experience and the ‘indignities’. She is lucky that you are proving to be a carer with insight.

I wouldn’t have mentioned it otherwise, but I have also just been diagnosed with cancer, thankfully of a type and at a stage that will require less dramatic intervention, with only a small and non-functional bit of me requiring surgical excision. So I’m feeling lucky. Including in being spared the chemo experience your wife is undergoing, in addition to the challenges of her ‘new normal’. A few weeks of post-op irradiation is as much as I’ll have to put up with, and, just like the first world war (wasn’t) it should all be over by Christmas!

It has also brought to my attention some medicine pricing facts I hadn’t been aware of, but… another time. For now I’m just selfishly hoping that the feared medicine supply disruptions and shortages, in the almost unavoidable event, now, of a no-deal Brexit, won’t affect the stuff I will need to take for the next five years to help prevent the blighter coming back for a bigger fight.

You never know what’s round the corner. Although I guess when you get to our age it’s less of a surprise.

Jews love to produce these commercials. They know it drives white males (& many white females up the wall.) It’s the obnoxious principle. The premise is so stupid that it’s memorable.

The jews also like these commercials because they often play the weak white male characters themselves, sucking on the blackamoor’s finger for example to get a taste of Doritos, or hugging them against their wishes. This is something they love to represent, nerdy nebbish types, ineffectual, meanwhile they’re laughing behind the scenes like crazy reveling in having pulled off this huge hoax on the white viewership.

Hatred? What the article said is: “Ms. Rubin’s solution is to extinguish the Republican Party from existence.” Not Trump. All Trump’s enablers.

No hatred there. Just as a surgeon removing a cancerous tumor is not acting emotionally out of hatred. Ms. Rubin is acting out of concern for the body politic.

“It’s not only that Trump has to lose, but that all his enablers have to lose,” Ms. Rubin said. That is kind of the way it is going as Trump is losing to the top five Democratic candidates. It doesn’t matter if they are moderate or radical. It doesn’t matter if they are capitalist or socialist. In the southern states Trump is losing to all of them. Those who oppose Trump and Trump’s enablers are not haters. They are lovers of the Nation. They are patriots. The better emotion for patriots is love, not hatred.

Perhaps it’s all part of the plan.
An ignorant, uneducated, and happily stupid populace has its benefits.
Primary among them is easily manipulated.
Just look at proud dorks Vs. Antidweebs.
Bunch of imbeciles ganging up for political cartels ran by lawyers and controlled by oligarchs and corporations.
Look at the popular culture. A privileged rich white girl/recording “artist” using LGBQT rights as a platform to market herself gets attention from the current regime after her comments at an absurd award show hosted by a corporate TV provider that doesn’t even play music.

It’s really difficult to not want all of this, the is fake society, fake nation, to be over with.

You are absolutely correct 100th, and I would say that the dumbed down masses have always been there and have always been played by those who rule. The difference today is that current and future technologies allow for total control of the herd. What they will do with this control will not be nice if you consider that the herd is very large if not far too large to manage. The question that we should be asking ourselves is whether they will be counting on die offs or kills offs to bring about manageability.

So then what are the options? Total extinction? What if others decide that you are not worth caring about? To me it seems like a slippery slope situation. Humans are social and need connectivity. If you want to change human behavior you do so through behavioral cues and social reinforcement. The problem is that we live in a time where all forms of behavior are acceptable and to be tolerated. Obviously this encourages bad behavior since there is no moral center or boundaries. I believe you are addressing a symptom but not a cause.

The stupidification of America has been going on for a long time, championed by the Deep State to make the public pliable to the government as you mentioned. It will continue as nobody in Washington wants a thinking rational public. It is also a positive feedback loop. College, which is abstract thinking trainers no, is only effective with a minority of people going there. The rest either drop out or major in Bullshit degrees that do not help them at all in life. College is hurting the public with diminished expectations and increased debt.

You are too smart for this so now I wonder. You know that all generations of young people generally are fresh and full of hope and furious about changing the world with their “new” ideas. The reality is that there is nothing new under the sun and adolescent dreams while adorable, endearing, yes inspiring, and occasionally sound are not appropriate building blocks for a functioning and healthy society. If that were the case then China would be a very unsuccessful society that would have probably disappeared by now. Yet, China will likely outlive us as we are the society that worships youthful creativity and naivety which changes generation to generation. China is built upon principles that have not changed for thousands of years. So how do you explain that? And this is not to even broach the topic of how easily influenced adolescents are by adults. I mean why does each generation now try to repeat the 60’s? You think that happens spontaneously?

With the Dormition Day of Mother of God!

The whole life of the Church of Christ revolves around the life of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and the Church year begins with her Nativity and ends with her Dormition.

But not only the Church Year, but also the entire second millennium from the Nativity of Christ, was determined by disputes about what the Dormition of the Blessed Virgin Mary is and this riddle, or rather a great mystery, is that point of focus that allows to bring the picture of History to sharpness and understand the reason for the enormous discrepancy between the spiritual life of the Orthodox and Catholics, which predetermined the conflicts that mankind had to endure because of the egotism of the people, who decided that they can understand this secret with their mind – the Dormition of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which is very like the death of Christ.

    • JohnAZ August 28, 2019 at 10:57 am #

Wasn’t the deification of Mary inspired to sell early Christianity to folks who believed in Mother Goddesses. Early cultures were amazed at the creation of life from the female side and gave special deity status to it.

Did you miss the bit where I said nature would do what it wants? It just has (or perhaps some of it was the chemical soup – who knows?). My body still belongs to me. Yours belongs to whoever you wish to have custody over it. To each his own.

“I think it is more like it was given to you.””

Kind of. By my parents, yes.

            Chemical soup? roflmao.

There is such a vast difference between life & that ‘chemical soup’ you speak of that it begs the question; Who made us? Life didn’t just assemble itself out of non-life. The Mystery deepens & the scientists have no answers.

“Nature” is her god, and what a miserable god it is. Uncaring, and Red in tooth and claw.”

Why do you insist on speaking gobbledegook? Nature is indeed neither caring nor uncaring, but it has nothing to do with ‘gods’, although earlier societies were as eager as you are to invent gods from it, because they had no other explanations. And now you have a god of the gaps, as does Tate. That’s fine, if it works for you.

            Alba,
I think Janos’s insight was an excellent use of metaphor. He, amongst us seems to have a gift…our resident poet.
I wish I could use “gobbledegook” as well as he.

In that he speaks in metaphor, he does not always truly believe what he posts…a core, yes, but not all of the logical extensions…it is a teaching method, and you can see much of his Jesuitical training therein (That he denies the Jesuits is but a small, inconsequential apostasy).

I never take offense…and sometimes, offense is the purpose of his posts…the degree of the disingenuous statement is the cypher’s key. I agree with most of what Janos believes, as I believe much of what our Host offers. Enjoy the turn of phrase…it is a considerable effort to be creative day after day.

And Alba, stay well. I hope the NHS, along with your husband, will do that which is required, and in a timely fashion.

          • Janos Skorenzy August 28, 2019 at 11:25 pm #

Thank you. Sorry to hear about your wife. Trying to find a deeper reason for Life’s tragedy is what I’m all about and why I’ve lived the way I’ve lived – always getting the worst of everything (food, clothes, women, respect, etc). If He is pleased with my sacrifice, perhaps He will reveal Himself to me. Only then could I really preach with authority and power. I will not be a herdsman of other men’s cattle (Buddha’s analogy for those lacking in the personal realization of what they preach).

          • GreenAlba August 29, 2019 at 6:15 am #

Thank you for your good wishes, EF. The NHS is treating me exceedingly well and kindly into the bargain, and I have my surgery date and a post-surgery schedule. If anything interferes with the supply of my Tamoxifen, it will be a no-deal Brexit, not the NHS, which has been stockpiling for some time in anticipation of the political failure of the numpties now leading us. There currently isn’t a cubic metre of warehousing or refrigerating capacity left in the UK, between the needs of healthcare, food security and industrial components.

I don’t doubt that you enjoy what you call Janos’ ‘poetry’. I didn’t object in the slightest to his hackneyed plagiarising of ‘nature red in tooth and claw’, merely his nonsense about me treating it as a ‘god’, which remains gobbledegook.

Nature is just there and surrounds me (albeit at a distance in some respects). Given that I agree it is red in tooth and claw, the idea that I would worship it is bizarre, to say the least. We spend a lot of our time fighting it, including with surgery, chemo, radiotherapy and hormone medications. I greatly admire those who help us do that, but I don’t ‘worship’ them either. The use of words like ‘religion’ and ‘worship’ in relation to non-believers is used defensively by the religious for obvious manipulative reasons and always will be. But it is tedious.

          • GreenAlba August 29, 2019 at 6:44 am #

“If He is pleased with my sacrifice, perhaps He will reveal Himself to me. ”

That would suggest two reasons why ‘He’ hasn’t revealed himself to you, Janos. But at least you are honest enough to reveal that he hasn’t revealed himself. That is unusual for one of your posts.

No matter what, I do. You can give ownership of yours to whomsoever you choose. You need to figure out your limits. They don’t reach to me.

Of course I can be brutalised, murdered, or reduced to nothing through illness, but until then it’s mine. And after that it returns to the earth, ashes to ashes, dust to dust. With a bit of luck someone can grow something nearby and I’ll be a bit of help. 🙂

Just got a clean bill of health from my primary care provider. Do I deserve it? Many here would say ‘No.’ I had a large growth removed from my back couple years ago, they expected melanoma, came back benign. My kid bro, got a diagnosis of prostate cancer, but my PSA, taken a week ago, was well within the range of normal. Why do I deserve this, I keep asking myself? I don’t want to die, but death is within the range of normal. I accept that I will die, just as all my forebears did.

Mrs. Tate doesn’t want either of us to die either. But death is well within the range of normal at our age. How little we understand, how little we know.

Thank you for your good wishes for my health, about which I have no particular worries as long as my long-term medication isn’t jeopardised, as I mentioned, by a no-deal Brexit. I am not alone in that. I have a friend dependent on Thryroxin and a nephew with insulin-dependent Type 1 diabetes.

I have no intention whatever to be ‘mean to you’. I say what I think – you say what you think.

For the rest,as I said before, you are more than welcome to believe whatever you were taught to believe. And I’m sure you are happy to have been born where you were, otherwise you’d magically have been taught to believe something entirely different. Such are religions.

Tate, I haven’t the slightest idea what purpose your post is meant to serve. Nor have I any idea why you’d be asking why you ‘deserve’ good health. That is a bizarre question.

Nor yet do have I any idea why you’d be worried about dying. I’d have thought you and Mrs T would be fair delighted to get on to the next stage of your adventure rather than hanging about here when so much displeases you.

Yep, it does look like they’re willing to give up on Western Civ. But it ain’t yet dead. The parts of it that are showing serious rot maybe should be excised. If they don’t want to partake of this grand thing then fuck ’em. I’ve got in mind Germany, France and parts of the US and some other places whose people cannot seem to summon the will to live. So be it. Die.

But there are parts that show some piss and vinegar and in places you wouldn’t immediately summon up. Hong Kong, given its century or so under the rule of the British Empire, learned the virtues of democracy and due process and individual rights even if they never really had the whole magilla like we did in other places. Mind you, getting the whole thing took time and not so long ago in the grand capitols of the West the idea of equal rights and the vote for everyone was seen as laughable.

No matter, what we’re talking about is a portable set of skills not only geographically but over time. Just like the idea of democracy didn’t spring fully formed from the forehead of Thomas Jefferson or Ben Franklin our overall cultural apparatus had numerous streams of thought and practice from different times and places. And if those ideas can be transplanted over time and distance then so can our own.

I would rather they live on somewhere even if they die in the places where they achieved full fruition. After all you can’t dictate to people the survival impulse.

This is the sound of Western Civilization going down the drain:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i9I-ut1TXoA

This is the sound of Western Civ at its height:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l0IoPQM1HlU

If it goes then this is what we lose, a huge corpus of music and literature, among other things. Ironic using this particular example given that the composer is from Russia, which isn’t thought of as a center of the West. Yet his music is in our tradition. And the orchestra and that stellar pianist is Korean. But they learned our ways in one of the most difficult and demanding of the arts. If we don’t have it in us then maybe other people do. Better it live somewhere than die. Long live Yeol Eum Son.

    • Janos Skorenzy August 28, 2019 at 1:12 pm #

They can play Classical very well. So can many Jews. They both remain aliens. No one can replace Us so stop trying to make the Crime of our replacement acceptable.

A Korean will bow to a White Tae Kwan Do master and study with him. Not for one moment will he ever believe that he is Korean though.

      • volodya August 28, 2019 at 1:35 pm #

Who said our replacement was acceptable? Not me. Quite the opposite. As for losing all those stellar Western accomplishments, cultural and scientific, one of which you see on youtube, that would be a crime. Yet you see idiots pushing for exactly that. Not me though. But if we don’t have the wit or the stones to preserve all that our forefathers developed, then I hope someone else will. As for Jews being alien, it was their thinking that formed some of the foundation stones of our civilization. I don’t think I have to belabor that. The point being I don’t think Jews are alien in the slightest. Quite the opposite.

        • Janos Skorenzy August 28, 2019 at 5:06 pm #

You became so after the sojourn in Babylon, where both the Great Plot and the Pharisee sect were born apparently. Today’s Judaism, or Talmudic Judaism, has nothing to do with that of Moses.

If you felt kinship with us, you wouldn’t have thrown open all of our borders once you had the power to do so. No, you want us to feel kinship with you. A one way street in other words.

          • volodya August 29, 2019 at 10:00 am #

If you want to argue about things I’ve advocated that’s all good. But I never advocated for opening the borders. Once again, quite the opposite.

Making me defend myself against arguments I didn’t make are troll tactics – government employed and otherwise, and so if this goes on this conversation will get one-sided pretty damned quick.

          • volodya August 30, 2019 at 9:32 am #

            No.

    • SoftStarLight August 28, 2019 at 1:13 pm #

But that is the thing V. Western culture will not live on in non-Western peoples. Absolutely, non-Westerners may adopt some aspects of Western culture that are found to be desirable but it will be a patchwork and it will be tailored to the society/culture doing the adopting. Wouldn’t it be better to get to the root of the sickness rather than accept the coming death? That would mean addressing why there is so much apathy in Western societies. Could it be because large majorities have been told now for years and years that not only are they not wanted or needed but that it would be better if they would simply die out or be replaced by foreigners who are so much better? Could it be that the Elite minorities are indoctrinated with the belief that their native civilizations are inherently worthless from the day of birth forward? Yes, Western Civilization is going down the drain because we have already absorbed so much non-Western influence from our precious minorities that it has brought the general level of the culture down to the floor. I think root causes need to be addressed. Or is it the case, which kinda seems like it is to me, that you actually prefer East Asians anyway and thus want to see them keep the best of our culture and then simply surpass and replace us?

      • volodya August 28, 2019 at 1:37 pm #

I don’t prefer East Asians. But it seems to me that they have an enthusiasm for our accomplishments that we’ve lost. I don’t know why this is. You’d have to ask them. But better our accomplishments be preserved by others if we’re too witless to do it ourselves.

      • volodya August 28, 2019 at 1:41 pm #

And as you say, it’s root causes that need to be addressed. And urgently.

I think it’s better that some of what we’ve done be preserved even if by others.

But, as you also said, others may preserve some of what we’ve done, but only so much as to suit themselves. IOW it’s an imperfect solution.

        • SoftStarLight August 28, 2019 at 1:50 pm #

Yes, so maybe we have a two front war. Maybe we should encourage others to adopt our ways. After all, to us, our ways are better, and apparently at least some of them are objectively better to others and so they want those characteristics. But most importantly we should also find our way back to who we really are and stop all of the self-loathing and ethnomasochism that has become so routine and second nature.

          • volodya August 28, 2019 at 3:04 pm #

Exactly. A two front war is a good way to look at it.

It’s no secret, nothing survived of Roman music. A thousand years worth, an enormous body of work, totally gone. I don’t want to see that happen to ours.

Somebody find me something more gorgeous than this:

            https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bRrP3ESM6sQ

And it’s way past time we stopped this self-loathing baloney. Yeah, we’re the worst except for all the others (to paraphrase Churchill).

          • Janos Skorenzy August 28, 2019 at 5:09 pm #

There’s no way to save the West without Jews losing an enormous amount of power and influence. We simply wouldn’t be fighting your wars in the Middle East if we loved ourselves. Needless to say, the price of our survival is far too high for you. You like things the way they are going much more….

Any ideas on why so many Senators and Reps are quitting their obligations. Especially Republicans. Are these RINOs just getting out of Dodge, or is the satisfaction of public service just going away. It is not Trump as this exodus would’ve occurred in 2018.

Maybe they are just disgusted by the whole mess in DC and just want out. Republicans first because they are not career politicians?

Its odd I had to learn of this project here in CFN, you’d think a movie with such a provocative title would be front and center in the news cycle. I’ll check the NYTs 1619 series and see if they bring it up. I’m sure the reviews will be favorable.

No, this movie needs to be widely publicized. Get it out there! Take it around to museums and art film houses across the country, let the millions of white American mothers who this week are escorting little Brittany and Jeremy to their first day of school, show ’em what lies in store for their dear little ones if things continue the way they are going.

“homeschooling cooperatives are growing fast and could be the future”

The question is, who is setting the curriculum, and what is that exactly?

In one co-op, it could be an echo chamber of “Earth is only 6,000 years old” and/or “what are those freaking Arabs doing, living on top of OUR oil?”

In another one, it could be “Those crazy Muslims are coming to kill us all” and/or “we need to teach the 4 y/os how to handle a AR 15, right away, Elma-Lou!”

If ‘education’ loses all connection with reality & science, then it’s just dogmatic propagandist brainwashing and we all reap the whirlwind.

So, SSL – please, tell us about your curriculum and the co-op you’re involved in. Please, calm my concerns.

Did you know that approximately 8,000 years ago North Africa was green, lush, and dotted with abundant freshwater lakes and rivers? Did you also know that the transition from green to desert only took a few hundred years? And further, did you realize that Saharan dust fertlizes the soils of the Amazon rainforest each year during the Northern Hemisphere’s summer?

          • GreenAlba August 29, 2019 at 6:55 am #

Yes, SSL – I learned it in school. Even saw it on TeeVee.

Not sure what it’s got to do with home schooling though.

As a quid pro quo, did you know that most child abuse occurs within the family?

          • SoftStarLight August 29, 2019 at 9:22 am #

Thank you for proving my point for me. Homeschooling is on par with public school education, and actually is usually much better since kids are kept from being exposed to the child abusers and molesters who have infiltrated the entire public education system. And since you are a big fan of statistics I am not sure why you think it is so noteworthy that most child abuse occurs within the family. I would imagine that most children are raised by a family (of some sort right) so wouldn’t it only logically make sense that when it comes to the horrible phenomenon of child abuse that it would occur in the family at a statistically higher rate than other instances/environments?

          • GreenAlba August 29, 2019 at 11:21 am #

“Thank you for proving my point for me. ”

I’m not sure what point I’ve proved for you, SSL, but regarding the statistics, my point is that home schooling, in the case of children being abused within their family, is a gift to the abusers, since they escape the everyday monitoring which schools obviously provide. If little Johnny is displaying known signs of abuse, at least in a school there’s a chance of someone noticing and intervening to little Johnny’s benefit.

I’m talking about serious child abuse, obviously, not someone being taken to listen to the rather ridiculous ‘drag-queen story hour’ or whatever. Nor do I mean a young person being informed that not every young man’s willy rises to the occasion at the sight of a naked female, which is just information every young person should have, so that they can avoid damaging mental health problems should they turn out to be one of that small minority, especially if they live with parents who insist on creating their own reality.

When it comes to the ‘promotion’ of gender weirdness of various kinds, of course, in school, we remain in agreement.

          • Tate August 29, 2019 at 2:21 pm #

It gives me no pleasure to intervene in this discussion between two females of the species but behooving of the need to correct an illogical inference, it is just absurd that anyone would equate home-schooling with child abuse, & that their parents deliberately keep them home in order to abuse them is just crazy-talk, born of a chardonnay-fueled menopause-induced rage against traditional society & its blessings.

Children subject to child abuse come from homes where neglect & substance abuse are the rule, not from homes where parents care enough about their progeny to give them the special dedication of a home education. This can be demonstrated in the numbers, by the way. Overwhelmingly, the victims of child abuse are the latchkey kids who typically have little to no parental involvement in their upbringing.

          • GreenAlba August 29, 2019 at 4:32 pm #

“it is just absurd that anyone would equate home-schooling with child abuse, & that their parents deliberately keep them home in order to abuse them is just crazy-talk, born of a chardonnay-fueled menopause-induced rage against traditional society & its blessings.”

I will put the ‘chardonnay-fuelled menopause-induced’ tripe down to you being a pure dickhead, given that (a) I don’t like Chardonnay, (b) I’m so far beyond the menopause that I remember nothing of it other than that I had practically no symptoms and sailed right through it, as did my mother, and (c) people of intelligence don’t need to make comments like that, which desperate people make.

Moving on…I like traditional society. It’s the society I was brought up in and the society in which I brought up my own kids. I even took them to Sunday School their whole underage lives to imbibe them with essence of traditionalism. Apart from dumping a useless husband and father who didn’t want his own second child, that is. Pardon me.

Child abuse isn’t confined to the poor, addicted and feckless. A certain type of child abuse is. Other kinds are completely indifferent to class and circumstance and are found throughout society. Just as all those men in paedophile rings that operate on the dark web instead of in Rochdale taxi ranks come from all classes and incomes.

What you hear from a lot of media fuck-sticks nowadays is so much concern that Trump’s trade war is hurting American farmers. And it probably is. Yet said fuck-sticks and their like in other areas of endeavor, for example, multiple presidential administrations plus a multitude of elected representatives plus academics, evinced not a jot of concern as the interior of the US economy was gutted over the past few decades, ruining the lives of tens of millions of Americans. Did you hear a peep coming from the White House of Bill or Dubya or Barry? I didn’t. When the whole unworkable mess derailed ten years ago, what did the Almighty Progressive do in his great wisdom? He fucking saved Wall Street.

And for what? What was all this in aid of? It was for the fortune of a handful of billionaires and their managerial clerisy who in their exalted wisdom thought it the done thing to insult the multitudes they ruined, not only in the US, but all over the world. Deplorables they were called, uneducated racist idiots and White Supremacists destined to be replaced by incomers.

Well, as JHK outlines, what they’ve concocted, which some call “globalism”, others “neo-liberalism”, sits on an underlying physical and human reality which isn’t amenable to changing itself to fit the paradigms devised by academics in the service of wealthy men looking for intellectual cover.

I’ve heard it more times than I can count, “there is no alternative”. I beg to differ. Those alternatives are making themselves manifest as we speak.

When you talk “replacement” of a demographic, you’re talking the talk we last heard during the 1940s. And here you’re dealing with one of those human realities; the survival instinct. To say that “replacement” is one of them fightin’ words is to understate the case. I would like to remind people using that rhetoric of what they’re up against, that being a heavily armed cohort that forms the backbone of the US military. Not wise to say the least. Will they fight? Do you wanna take that chance? As JHK sez, tatted Visigoths at the gates of those coastal enclaves.

As far as those supply lines go, I would hazard a prediction here, that the Chinese regime knows its existence depends on those oil tankers making their inordinately long way home, and the development of that blue-water Chinese navy is in furtherance of that objective. Is there a kerfuffle in the works? I would say that those Asian boys on those vessels are indeed being trained to fight but mainly to avoid exactly that, to make an economically depleted United States back down, knowing it no longer has the productive wherewithal after it pissed itself away in multiple foreign adventures.

The issue is one of time. How long before the reality of depleting oil overtakes delusional schemes to avoid that very reality? How long before Trump’s belligerence on trade fatally upsets financial schemes that weren’t workable anyway? How long before the here-and-there shoot-em-ups by unhappy, disturbed and deranged gun-men coalesce into full-boil insurrection by a lot of unhappy gunned-up citizens? Which happens first? And does it make any difference?

    • Emissions from the whine cellar notwithstanding, any prediction of warfare beyond saber-rattling among signatories of multilateral trade agreements should be greeted with skepticism.

While Beijing must fund military expansion there is little obstacle to their maritime interests. Where commerce goes within the exclusive zones of legitimate states, the overlapping trade obligations pretty much obviate any question as to legitimate actions.

Even in the Taiwan strait, the fallout from a military blockade would be unthinkable.

Macron’s leadership at G7 summit and the recent freedom of navigation course through it by France’s Charles de Gaulle nuclear powered aircraft carrier demonstrate that laws and precedent govern seafaring politics, and the ascent of a belligerence in the arena is unthinkable.

As long as there are no agreements with states such as Iran, Syria, etc, then the predictions are valid. Yes, those states are possible targets of economic and military sanction, however, overt naval engagement remains unlikely. The American battle group is near, but not within, the Strait of Hormuz.

Look for Greta(tm) on tomorrow’s front page of the New York Times, a certified Lil Debbie predicto-declaration.

        >>> Even in the Taiwan strait, the fallout from a military blockade would be unthinkable.

Actual, literal fallout is also “unthinkable”, and yet the world recently witnessed it in the form of a failed Russian nuclear missile test.

And what—or rather who—is keeping Chinese ambitions in check? Certainly not the memory of Obama, who fecklessly watched as Crimea was annexed, and as Russia went on to invade more of its neighbors.

        • The idea, in your comments, I suppose, are that

Did you know the G7 just met in Europe?

Did you know the G7 used to be the G8?

Did you know Russia was kicked out because the other 7 objected to Russia’s actions there?

Do you know the sanctions on Russia remain in place?

Modern warfare by advanced nations, over turf, where those nations are engaged in multilateral agreements is stupid and expensive and Russia stands as an object lesson in why.

Of course, from Putin’s perspective an isolated Russia allows Putin more control as an autocrat.

Various “iron curtains” may go up here and there from here on out but the lessons of the 20th century are pretty clear.

You just can’t allow the foreign power to fuck with your military in such humiliating way, especially with Commander-in-Chief aboard the vessel.

if Putin failed to give a corresponding order, he’d lose all respect of his own military.

            Honor before money.

          • Exscotticus August 28, 2019 at 4:50 pm #

Did you know that the sanctions on Russia remain ineffective?

Did you know that time is on Russia’s side? As the longer it holds on to Crimea, the greater the Russification, such that a real election will result in the same outcome?

Did you know that Russia is the main EU supplier of fossil fuels?

Did you know that modern warfare by advanced nations, over turf, where those nations are engaged in multilateral agreements, happens all the time via proxy wars?

There is very little evidence of lessons learned from the 20th century.

Of course, they’ll blame Trump and his trade war with China for it, despite the fact that Trade War with China is a continuation of the American War for Independence.

And American War for Independence began with the Boston Tea Party, during which the West India Company sank the alleged “tea” that was brought from China by the East India Company, known for launching the Opium Wars when the Chinese Emperors in the same way destroyed similar warehouses in China.

What they are not is “fair and balanced” in that any news showing the US in a positive light will not be presented. They present accurately the news to my eye…just not all of it….

“I mean why does each generation now try to repeat the 60’s?” –SSL

Because the values of the 60s are perennial: Peace. Love. Freedom. Those were the values to replace war, hate, domestic violence, child abuse, oppression of women and minorities, and the deadly conformity of the 1950s. Thank Goddess for the 1960s.

    • SoftStarLight August 29, 2019 at 9:32 am #

Those perennial values can only be won by vanquishing and containing Darkness. Your goddess apparently was not successful since the world lacks so much peace, love and freedom. Unfortunately that will always be the case given the deep imbalance that most people suffer as expressed here. You see, you need a God of War to defeat the forces that array themselves against peace, love and freedom. That is what you are missing. And that is why the 60’s was no victory at all for those values you cherish. And repeating the same thing over and over and expecting a different result is insanity.

Daigun Mosby — community member — set his apt complex in Hartford on fire last night at 2:00 am. Why do these arsonists in Hartford, New Haven and Bridgeport set their house fires at 2:00 am, when everbody is sleeping? Haha, unless maybe that’s the whole idea. Miraculously, everybody got out alive on this one, but a few hundred more people relocated to the seedy motels lined up north and south of the city already filled with illegals and refugees — honored guests — in this sanctuary city. But ‘authorities’ always find room for more. Pack ’em in, pack ’em in, seems to be the motto. Hey, at least we’re “living our values”.

YAY, I always loved this moment!!!! And the perfect time of year for it is just around the corner.

  78. A 55-year-old man presents to a walk-in clinic towards the end of the evening. It has been a busy day for the clinic and they are about to close. His chief complaint is constipation. He has not had a bowel movement in 4?days, which is unusual for him. He complains of pain in his lower back and lower abdomen and also some tingling in his legs. He thinks that he will feel better with a laxative because what he has tried so far has not worked. He was briefly examined by the physician who did not find anything remarkable on his abdominal examination. There was some mild suprapubic tenderness, which was attributed to the patient’s need to urinate. Bowel sounds were good, his abdomen was soft and there were no masses or organomegaly. The physician prescribed a stronger laxative and advised the patient to contact his family doctor for further follow-up.

During the night, the patient was unable to urinate and went to the emergency department. On examination, his lower abdomen appeared distended and he was found to have a residual volume of 1200cc on catheterisation. His rectum was markedly distended with soft stool that required disimpaction. He recalled straining his lower back lifting about 4?days earlier. The emergency physician suspected cauda equina syndrome and this was confirmed on MRI. He was taken immediately to the operating room for surgical decompression. He did well postoperatively and regained full bladder control.

Right, but also overload in the ERs. If a problem is not immediately diagnosed, it is shelved and put aside for further development and the MD goes to the next patient. Patients need to be persistent until a diagnosis is obtained and do not let oblivious MDs get away with putting them off.

Also, people get the shaft from the MD pharma collusion. Remember when the MD prescribes the latest drug for you with the big price tag, there is probably an older generic that works just as well. Doctors do not operate out of the goodness of their hearts any more.

      • elysianfield August 28, 2019 at 10:14 pm #

        SnakPak,
Medicine (specifically the diagnosis) is more an art form than a science…expensive tests are slowly changing the paradigm, but a Dr. listens to a patient and tries to divine symptoms and causes…some are good at it…some, not so much.

“hippies are pushing 80” — brh

brh, history is cyclical. There are hippies today. Kids are in the streets protesting being shot down in their schools. They are demanding action. They are in the streets defending preservation of a living environment. The kids today are the new generation of flower power. The Beatles are as popular as ever in 2019. Did you see this year’s new Beatles movie “Yesterday”, brh? Volkswagen vans are back in. Vinyl records are back. Black rights have become gay rights, women’s liberation is now Time’s Up and Me Too. Woodstock is Coachella, Burning Man and Bonnaroo. Kids today are living 60s values. The names have changed but the values are the same. Kids like Greta Thunberg are holding politicians to account for their lack of action, just like in the 60s.

        JohnAZ:

“One problem here, they are living the 60’s values of a small group of antisocial sociopaths of the 60’s.”

John, in my view, judging by the content you share with us here, you’re a reasonable person. However, I think you’re missing pkrugman’s point, either deliberately or due to some cognitive bias, as illustrated by characterizing all hippies of the 60s as ‘antisocial sociopaths’.

For sure, there was a cohort of antisocial sociopaths within the very broad group identifying themselves as ‘hippies’, just as you identify a cohort of the same or any other diagnosable mental condition is any broad group – Kiwanis, for example, or The Boy Scouts.

I’m with pkrugman in that the young are (as is their eternal wont) taking up the causes that are significant to them and making as much noise as possible about it.

The fact that oldsters like us necessarily don’t ‘get’ the likes of Greta Thunberg and decry them, is simply irrelevant.

        • JohnAZ August 28, 2019 at 11:05 pm #

Successful societies utilize the strengths of the different age groups. You are right, the vibrancy of youth is necessary, but it must be regulated by the wisdom of age. Climate change (Greta) is just an example. If AOC had her way, for example, we would destroy the economic engine of the world, not just the US. What would be left of us, not many, would probably be agrarian centered. The Green New Deal that the youth want is deadly. And the really dumb thing is that there really is no promise that the changes would make any difference. Mankind has an inkling of what controls the climate machine, but just an inkling.

My disdain for hippies is that they were dropouts, they did not even try to improve things or even be involved. They were usually too strung out to do much.

And yes, we old farts do make a difference, thank goodness.

          • Majella August 29, 2019 at 6:02 pm #

            JohnAZ

Again, a misleading generalization – not ALL ‘hippies’ were drop-outs, just as they were not ALL antisocial sociopaths. The vast majority got past the late ’60s & early ’70s just fine and went on to raise families and lead a real life.

Not all young people are the same just like not all old people are the same. There is a difference between going against the grain and simply obeying orders. Sorry, Greta is not going against the grain. She is participating in something very mainstream and establishment. Remember the entire Global Establishment endorses and pushes the AGW agenda incessantly day and night. I find it utterly amazing that people truly believe this is some major act of defiance. It’s ludicrous and silly to believe such a thing. This is a well funded propaganda event period. If the NYT is excited about something you can take it to the bank it is something the Global Elite believe in.

So, for all the time that ExxonMobil were spending millions on disseminating climate disinformation and trying to discredit climate scientists to protect their profits, while hiding the data of their own scientists (whose conclusions likewise supported the consensus on AGW), were ExxonMobil not part of the Global Establishment?

The fossil fuel interests within the Global Establishment have spent a fortune on disinformation – and you are a prime example of how well it worked. They certainly got value for money.

Of course they do. They did back then (the 80s) when they were disseminating disinformation about climate science even though their own climate scientists corroborated the consensus on AGW.

But back then they pretended not to and they spent a fortune trying to make sure other people didn’t either. And they succeeded, to a very large extent.

Now they see the writing on the wall and it’s no longer in their interest to continue with their explicit and well-funded denial.

Dormition of the Blessed Virgin Mary and Theory of World Projects

I understand perfectly well that the sacred dates of Orthodoxy and Theory of World Projects are two things that are not comparable, but some kind of theory is needed to interpret the information given to us in every day sensations, and after the pogrom that was arranged by a certain community in science, including historical science, in my opinion, there are simply no other theories.

In addition, recent events related to the fire on Losharik have shown not only the adequacy of the theory of World Projects as a means of analysis, but also its necessity.

Indeed, the similarity between the sect of Epstein and the sect of Gilles de Rais is simply striking, and the attempts to whitewash the Gilles de Rais today actually prove that this sect is alive and well, and its allegations that such a sect simply “cannot exist because it never can exist” look somewhat strange after the publication of partial information about the Epstein’s sect.

And Trump seems to be determined to make public a lot of other information about the sect of Epstein, which by analogy will undoubtedly shed light on the sect of Gilles de Rais.

But the most important thing for me personally is that, as I just discovered due to the publication of materials about the Epstein sect, among the members of the sect of Gilles de Rais, was a descendant of Simon de Montfort, a hero “for the glory of Christ” who arranged the first genocide in the center of Europe, called the Albigensian Crusade.

Moreover, the victims of this genocide were the areas inhabited by the Gallo-Romans, that is, Orthodox, who received baptism not only from Ambrose, but also from the Holy Denis of Paris, also known as Dionysius Areopagite, according to legend, not only the great saint, but also the author of the Areopagite – books that according to Maximus the Confessor, has become one of the foundations of Orthodoxy.

And the teachings of Maximus the Confessor, told in the West by Ian Scott Eriugena, were never accepted by the West and, in fact, were condemned in his person as heresy, which became one of the reasons for the abyss that opened between East and West in 1054 and the war, which later received the name “Cold”, and which Historical, that is, Orthodox Russia, lost with a bang in 1991, with all the ensuing consequences for world Orthodoxy.

Meanwhile, the teachings of Maximus the Confessor proclaimed that Original sin was transmitted through sexual intercourse, and this was one of the reasons for the conviction of the heresy of the castle of Monforte.

These heretics claimed that conception without sexual intercourse is possible, as a result of which there will appear children who are not burdened with Original sin, that is, immortal, since according to the Holy Scriptures the necessity of death is caused by original sin.

In particular, the leader of the “sect” professing the heresy of the castle of Monforte and the mistress of the castle of Monforte claimed that the Mother of God did not die, but fell asleep because she was conceived immaculately.

It was precisely this that brought them to the stake, although a study of the ancestors of Gilles de Rais, which Jeffrey Epstein made me undertake, showed that among them was one of the founders of the Knights Templar, as well as the organizer of the Fourth Crusade and participant in the capture of Constantinople, Mathieu I de Montmorency, studying whose life showed that the castle of Monforte, whose inhabitants were burned for the dogma of the immaculate conception a few years before the Great Schism, most likely became Margrave Montferrat, that is, the patrimonial possession of the first Latin king of Byzantium conquered by the crusaders of Boniface I of Montferrat.

Thus, the assumption, repeatedly expressed by many conscientious researchers of the Middle Ages, that the “heretics” of Monforte Castle were Orthodox Christians, followers of Simeon the New Theologian, but those who burned them in order to capture the last independent Christian macro county, were really terrible heretics, moreover, the followers of those who burned people for the dogma of the immaculate conception of the Virgin Mary a relatively short time after Cardinal Hubert declared an anathema to all Orthodox Christians in 1054, changed their shoes in flight and in 1204 began to burn people for refusing to recognize the dogma of the infallibility of the Pope and the dogma of Immaculate Conception, regardless of the defended point of view, not forgetting to confiscate the real estate of the “heretics”.

But the teaching of Maximus the Confessor states that original sin is transmitted not through the physical aspect of sexual intercourse, but through emotions and thoughts that people experience during the act, including during IVF.

And the ancestors of Gilles de Rais quite consciously used the latent rejection by the Western Church of the teachings of Maxim the Confessor in order to begin the persecution of the Orthodox in Western Europe and split the Christian Church, then organize the Fourth Crusade, which destroyed the Orthodox Empire with its capital in Constantinople.

But since then the concepts developed have gained more flesh and blood, including blood shed by the followers of this sect, whose members are not without success now are trying to provoke a nuclear war between the countries that destroyed Nazism.

“hippies are pushing 80” — brh

brh, the newest generation of 21st century hippies have a culture founded on art, love and music, with new advantages: the kids today are not biased against sexual preference, skin color or nationality. They won’t start wars or throw bombs. They won’t kick people out for wearing turbans or living in Palestine. They may be gender fluid but at least they won’t have half their generation’s marriages end up in divorce.

You are right. Extrapolate a little though. They won’t divorce because they do not have the spirituality to form marriages in the first place. They have no pride, living off of their parents or in absence of that the government. They have no ideals in the first place, let alone anything they would fight for. Gender fluid, that term cracks me up, means that they do not have enough of a self image to know whether they are male, female or some made up insanity in between.

Their parents were total failures in raising this generation. They have been able to skip almost every maturation stage after about six years old.

Really a group to be proud of.

Haha imagine if Mario Savio showed up in Berkeley in 2019, agitating for a “Free Speech Movement”?

Your modern day hippies would run him out of town pronto, no questions asked, with accusations of hater, Nazi and my favorite ‘White Nationalist’.

After six months and more of ruthless censorship, this cunt stands up and declares youtube will not bow to the enemies of free speech. This is classic psychopath psychology. Effortless Evil. The Psychopath cries out on in pain as she censors you.

Did you notice how the language of the article was couched in such a way that it made her sound as if she is a journalistic freedom fighter? To me it made it sound like she was a free-speech firebrand. Maybe I am a bit too conspiratorial in my thinking but I think that this is all a set up. I mean, I don’t believe she believes in free speech and open platforms. I bet at some point in time they will decide to de-platform a whole ton of channels and she will come out and say that it was only because they were somehow forced into doing so by circumstances or pressure and she can always appear to be fighting for openness and freedom while silencing all dissent.

They’re already doing exactly that. But it’s not happening since they won’t report it. This is how they’ve lost credibility with the well informed – but not the masses. And in “Democracy” the latter trumps the former.

Black Judge pleads guilty to laying in wait for his ex-wife and killing her as she dropped off their kids with his sister. The prosecutor – the same one who dealt with the Black cop who urinated on a girl – said that the “community” dealt with a lot of this, at all socioeconomic levels. You can take a savage out of the jungle but he remains what he was. The state of the inner man is unchanged.

This inner man was not much removed from an animal. His children witnessed their father murder their mother in a very brutal way. A profound and unimaginable tragedy that will haunt them for the rest of their days on this planet. What a heart wrenching story.

Lawrence o’Donnel of MSNBC come out with a story on Trump last night that he was co-signed on loans by Russian oligarchs. Total fabrication and he has apologized for LYING. Where are the slander
Laws? Why can’t the media be sued for the stuff they obviously just make up? This jerk should be fired for what he did.

There is no justice system in the country. Bought and paid for by the Deep State Elite.

  85. JohnAZ August 28, 2019 at 9:16 pm #

Just add O’Donnel’s latest onto the piles of lies, innuendos and deceit that the press has presented to America in the last three years.

Remember, the Trump tweets are usually in response to something cooked up by some ahole in the press.
