Kentucky bridge collapses, stranding several families

WHITESBURG, Ky. (AP) — A county official says a bridge in eastern Kentucky has partially collapsed and stranded several families across the water.

Letcher County Judge Executive Jim Ward tells WYMT-TV the bridge that collapsed Wednesday morning was weakened by recent flooding. He says crews will be on scene to build an alternate route.

Ward says the collapsed bridge along Highway 7 serves about 30 homes.
