ANN ARBOR, MI -- A Briarwood Mall department store is reopening on Thursday, June 4, with safety guidelines related to the novel coronavirus in place.

Von Maur is implementing several safety measures to begin operating with reduced hours from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.

“We are cautiously taking our first steps toward resuming business," Melody Wright, chief operating officer, said in a news release. “Our priority remains the health and well-being of our employees, customers, and the communities that we serve. Von Maur is committed to providing a safe environment for those that visit our stores when they open."

Malls and stores began reopening last week in response to Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s latest executive order.

Briarwood Mall officially reopened to the public on Thursday, May 28, to customers with appointments. The mall executed several safety protocols for employees and customers, such as sanitizing and standing six feet apart. Twelve Oaks Mall in Novi reopened the same day, with customers waiting in lines outside of stores to be checked in.

The mall also has floor decals and signs directing appropriate traffic flow and social distancing measures.
