In August of 2004, Marie Osmond and Brian Blosil lost the home they shared due to a fire. While most people in that position would be devastated, Osmond had a surprising reaction to the fire. “It was probably one of the most freeing things that ever happened to me. Because I realized this home I had created was a facade to a marriage that wasn’t happy for 20 years. I really believe it was God — they say, ‘The burning within.’ So sometimes these things happen to wake us up.”

On top of revealing the moment that she realized her marriage was a façade, Marie Osmond also made it clear that her kids knew that their parents needed to divorce. “I just went, ‘I can’t do this anymore. And my children came to me and said, ‘Mom, please leave. We gotta get out of here.'”

While Marie Osmond hasn’t revealed what exactly it was about her marriage to Brian Blosil that made her kids say it had to end, that alone says a lot about the former couple’s marriage.
