  3. 'We stay together'

Rodgers message when he was announced was, 'let's get to work' his message in the stadium today...

"It's just a thank you for the support that I have had. This is a club that allows you to dream, it's an amazing football club with a history so rich and I'm hoping that us together, we can add to that.

"It has to be unified, it has to be together like we were the first time and let's see if we can create those memories again.

"They were special memories and from this day forward, we stay together."

  4. 'Guarantee I'll be here for three years'

    Rodgers added...

"I've signed for three years and I guarantee I'll be here for three years unless I get emptied before that, as they say up here."

  5. Beale an 'excellent' coach, but 'focus' on Celtic

When asked on the challenge of Michael Beale's Rangers, Rodgers said...

"All you can do is beat the opposition that is in front of you. When I arrived seven years ago, Rangers were getting promoted, they'd just beaten Celtic and there was a big feeling they could go on to win the league.

"Over the next number of years, we just focused on ourselves which allowed us to play the football we wanted to play to win trophies and have success.

"It will be exactly the same here. Michael is a coach I know from back in the day at Chelsea and then at Liverpool so I have known him over a period of time and he is an excellent coach. But my focus will clearly be on Celtic, improving us as a team will be my thought process every minute of the day."

  6. 'Really important' for Kennedy to stay

    Rodgers on John Kennedy:

"I've always felt that coming back to here, it was going to be really important for John to be here.

"He knows how I work. He knows the rhythm of my days. He's an incredible worker, he's a great football man, he has the respect of the players, he has respect for all the staff.

"When I spoke to John to convince him to stay, I was really pleased and happy that he wanted to. We worked really well together the last time we were here and hopefully it can be the same this time."

  7. 'Happiness' at return for Rodgers

Rodgers is a happy man to be back in Glasgow's east end...

"Scotland brought me a lot of happiness on and off the pitch when I was here.

"The joy of working here at Celtic was amazing. And, of course, off the pitch, I had a lot of respect for the city and country. That's why when we were thinking of coming back it wasn't just about the football side of things.

"I'm delighted to be here from a professional perspective and from a family perspective."

  8. Rodgers 'a better manager'

    More from Rodgers:

"My teams are always play with an attacking philosophy, it's always aggressive and it's always a team set out to win but always with a tactical discipline. That has never changed.

"I'm a better manager than when I sat here seven years ago when I first came and certainly from when I left four years ago.

"The experiences good and bad always help you and that was the beuaty of coming back here and I can come back with my experience and hopefully let the club move forward."

  9. Post update

Now onto that European football chat...

"We all know the challenges of the Champions League, if you can get through to the knockout stages then we all know how big that is for a Scottish team," Rodgers said.

"For us, it's about seeing where the group stages can take us to. It's a challenge but for us, it's a great challenge and one we need to embrace."

  11. 'We'll add quality where we can'

Rodgers adds there is no 'rebuilding' required...

"It's not going to be lots of numbers. When Ange came in he had a massive rebuilding job and did brilliantly. Over the last couple of years they have built a squad, so it's a case of developing that squad and adding quality where we can."

  12. 'It's a good time to strengthen'

Rodgers on Celtic's summer transfer plans:

"It's a good time to strengthen whenever you have done ever so well. A team coming off the back off a treble, I've been in that position before and we were able to do another treble.

"So, I understand the feeling now over the course of a summer, what it is you need at this period and that will be about strengthening.

"But I'm really excited with the players here because it's a young squad and there's still a lot of growth in that. It's an exciting squad and we can add to that."

  13. Rodgers revisited

  14. Expectations and pressure greater this time around

Rodgers said he "understands" how supporters would have felt after his departure in 2019 for Leicester City.

"It was an emotional time, the club were going for 10-in-a-row.

"I never get too emotional with words and I'm hoping that in my time here I can have that impact I did during my first time. I think that expectations are greater, the pressure is greater probably because of what we did the first time and the way I left but that is what I wanted, that is why I'm here.

"I'm here to win and take on that expectation and pressure but this is a club that wants to be winning."

  15. 'It will just take time'

"Hopefully in time, I can give you that feeling I gave you the first time.

"I don't expect anything, but if I get that support - which has been amazing since I came back - then that is great. For those who doubt, I've had that all my career so I will continue to work hard and hopefully a team that plays with the commitment people will enjoy.

    "It will just take time."

  16. Get Involved

    have ur say

  17. 'Life's about relationships'

More from Rodgers on his departure:

"It was a sad time because of the relationships that I built up here with the players, with the supporters, with the board so it wasn't an easy decision, of course.

"Despite what I've read at times and what I hear, life's about relationships and I wouldn't be sat here today if I didn't have the relationship with the guys around the table and with the other members on the board. It just wouldn't happen.

"I'm clearly ambitious but I'm very ambitious for Celtic to be the best that we can be."

  18. Rodgers 'regrets' hurt caused by 2019 exit

Rodgers on his departure from Celtic in 2019:

"It's natural when I left It was a sad moment. I certainly don't regret but what I do regret is the hurt that it caused people and it's the very reason I'm sat here today.

"As a Celtic supporter I understood what it meant and probably even more so when I left. So that was my regret, that I hurt people who were Celtic supporters and it's a big part of coming back."

  19. The elephant in the room...

Few probably forgot about this banner from when Rodgers left for Leicester, but if anyone had, they've certainly been reminded of it of late... it's been everywhere. Will it be referenced?

  20. Rodgers 'exchanged messages' with Postecoglou

When asked whether he had spoken to predecessor Ange Postecoglou, Rodgers responded: "I've exchanged messages with him.

"I've spoken in depth to John Kennedy, who's obviously been a pivotal person here at the club and will be by assistant. I've obviously watched Celtic as well, the football philosophy is not too different in terms of how we would work and how a Celtic manager is perceived to work with his team.

"As an attacking club, you have to not just win but win stylistically in a certain way and Ange has obviously done that and hopefully my period before we were able to do that so it's a continuation of that and looking to build on that."
