Bray studied in Hernando High school where he started his wrestling career winning the championship. He graduated in 2005, then went to the college of sequoias and earned a scholarship to Troy University, but dropped out to become a wrestler. His father Lawrence Michael Rotunda was a professional wrestler and Bray followed his footsteps. He is also the brother of Bo Dallas.
