Which Used Toyota Camry Trim Is Right for Me?

The 2019 Toyota Camry comes in five trims: L, LE, SE, XLE, and XSE. There's also a 2019 Camry Hybrid model, which we review separately. The base Camry L comes well-equipped with lots of driver assistance tech and a handful of useful infotainment features like Apple CarPlay (Android Auto is not available). Keep in mind, however, that the base trim has about 1 less cubic foot of trunk space than other Camry trims. If you want a punchier engine than the base four-cylinder, you’ll need to find a Camry XLE or Camry XSE, which are available with a six-cylinder engine. The XLE and XSE also come with infotainment upgrades, a couple of extra safety features, and several comfort amenities.

  • Toyota Camry L: The base Toyota Camry L comes with the Entune infotainment system, which includes a 7-inch touch screen, a six-speaker audio system, a USB port, Bluetooth, a Wi-Fi hot spot, Siri Eyes Free, and Apple CarPlay. Standard driver assistance features include a rearview camera, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, and automatic high-beam headlights. Some of these features are part of the Toyota Safety Sense suite. The Camry L comes with a 203-horsepower four-cylinder engine.
  • Toyota Camry LE: The Toyota Camry LE gains a split-folding rear seat and a power-adjustable driver's seat. Available features include blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, and a moonroof.
  • Toyota Camry SE: The Toyota Camry SE adds automatic climate control and synthetic leather upholstery.
  • Toyota Camry XLE: The Toyota Camry XLE comes with everything in the lower trims, plus an upgraded infotainment system with an 8-inch touch screen, two additional USB ports, satellite radio, and HD Radio. Additional standard features include genuine leather upholstery, heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, wireless device charging, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross traffic alert. The XLE is available with a 301-horsepower V6 engine. Models with the V6 also come with a panoramic glass roof, a head-up display, and a nine-speaker JBL audio system.
  • Toyota Camry XSE: The Camry XSE comes with trim-specific styling, as well as all the features in the XLE. Its base four-cylinder engine generates an extra 3 horsepower. The XSE is also available with the V6 engine, panoramic glass roof, head-up display, and JBL stereo.

What Does Toyota's Certified Pre-Owned Warranty Cover?

Toyota offers a certified pre-owned program for vehicles six years old or less and with fewer than 85,000 miles. Eligibility is determined by the vehicle’s initial sale date. Toyota provides a one-year/12,000-mile limited warranty on all its certified pre-owned vehicles, and it extends the original new-car powertrain warranty to seven years from the initial sale date or 100,000 miles. For 2020 and newer models, hybrid components are covered for eight years from the initial sale date or 100,000 miles. Each CPO Toyota must pass a 160-point inspection. Additional benefits like a CarFax vehicle history report, towing, and roadside assistance may be available.

Toyota’s CPO program is about average for an affordable carmaker, according to our research. Hyundai and Kia both have better programs.

2019 Toyota Camry Versus the Competition

Which Is Better: 2019 Toyota Camry or 2019 Mazda6?

Like the Camry, the 2019 Mazda6 delivers some of the best performance dynamics in the affordable midsize car class , with engaging handling and a powerful available turbocharged four-cylinder engine. In most other ways, however, the Camry is better. The Toyota has standard Apple CarPlay (optional in the Mazda6) and a much better predicted reliability rating. Additionally, its available V6 engine is stronger than the Mazda’s available turbo-four. The Camry is the better pick, hands down.

Which Is Better: 2019 Toyota Camry or 2019 Toyota Camry Hybrid?

The 2019 Toyota Camry Hybrid – one of our 2019 Best New Cars for Teens – ranks highly in the hybrid and electric car class . It returns some of the best fuel economy estimates among hybrids and bests the nonhybrid Camry by up to a combined 18 mpg city/highway. The Camry Hybrid also offers more standard features than its nonhybrid stablemate, including heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, and Amazon Alexa. However, while the nonhybrid Camry carries high projected ownership costs for a midsize sedan, the hybrid Camry's costs are even steeper. If you can afford it, the Camry Hybrid takes the cake in this side-by-side comparison.
