- Fiona LShrewsbury, UK102 contributionsWe were not familiar with the work of this artist until we found the museum on the website of the Fine Arts Museums of Brussels. He was a wonderful sculptor of everyday, working men, full of dynamism and energy, and this was one of our favourite places in Brussels. The entrance is very unassuming (the front door to his house) and you have to ring the bell to be let in but there are lots of his sculptures from small to larger than lifesize. No cafe but there is a toiletWritten April 29, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Leandra BBrussels, Belgium7 contributionsPlace du Chatelain is a nice area surrounded by a variety of shops and bars/restaurants for all tastes. Every wednesday a local market takes place in the main square starting at 2 pm with good products and prices. Absolutely worth visiting.Written May 9, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Екатерина Капрарь6 contributionsThis place is a must-go if you like to enjoy a good cup o tea, interesting conversations with the owners (who speak French, English, Polish and many other languages :)) and if you are into contemporary art. Every Saturday Happy Day opens its doors for anyone (for free!) to meet a new artist: painter, photographer, sculptor... You can enjoy an exhibition, while sipping delicious tea. Every artist is different, so you can get to know what's popular these days among amateur, as well as professional, artists in the heart of Europe. This place is hidden in the small cozy street which makes it even more authentic and special :)Written February 29, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - BlarghBlarghBirmingham, UK404 contributionsBeautiful cemetery to have a walk around, there's a whole range of bigger, old tombs/monuments and also a lot of war graves, which are very detailed. We found Horta's grave, but it would be even better if there was a map to find notable people.Written October 7, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - MamataBrussels, Belgium206 contributionsLast weekend was my first weekend day out in Brussels city. On a sunny Saturday late morning I alighted at little before the Luxemborg square by bus no. 63 from Genev. European Parliament and many other important building of European Commission can be found here. Very good restaurants and Thursdays are particularly popular day here and square comes alive with all bars and restaurants full and you will see people standing right in the centre circle and enjoying drinks or doing picnics . A must visit for tourists and most of the bars here brew their own beer which is very good to enjoyWritten April 5, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - TrainbleuBrussels, Belgium28,782 contributionsApart from looking up at the second floor of the house where Argentine writer Julio Cortázar was born on August 26, 1914 and reading the commemorative plaque next to the entrance there isn’t much to do here because the house is not open to the public. Cortázar only lived here for a very short time anyway because his family moved to Switzerland to flee the war. But just opposite the house, under the trees lining Avenue Lepoutre, there is a rather tormented-looking bust of Cortázar (1914 – 1984) by Argentinian sculptor Edmund Valladares on a high pedestal (2005), which is worth a glance.
Avenue Lepoutre, off Place Brugmann, can easily be reached by taking tram 92 (Fort-Jaco) on Rue Royale or at Louise to ‘Darwin’. From there a short stroll along Rue Darwin takes you directly to Place Brugmann. Architecture lovers should not miss the opportunity to explore this pleasant residential area of Brussels boasting several listed buildings of various styles.Written November 21, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Just by Namur metro station, you have to walk a couple of minutes into rue Keyenveld till you arrive to number 48 and there you can see the house where she was born, in a nice belgian street, and think of how, from this place, she became eternal.Written November 28, 2014This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - TrainbleuBrussels, Belgium28,782 contributionsFrom the outside, this 19th-century church of the Convent of the Discalced Carmelites (or ‘Carmelite Church’), in Lombard-Gothic revival style, looks rather plain. Finding it open, I couldn't resist the temptation to have a peek inside. The first impression of the predominantly white interior was one of soft light and pleasant harmony. While the chancel has traditional 19th century stained windows, the body of the church is illuminated by unusual and very striking slab glass and concrete windows designed by Father Eloi Devaux (1959). I walked around reading the information folder a friendly lady in a booth at the back of the church lent me, but apart from the windows, I saw little of interest.
In a separate hall, accessible from the church, there was a small, free photography exhibition entitled “L’invisible” (The Invisible) with photos by Father Giuliano Pallicca (until 6 April, 7.30 p.m. to 8 p.m., closed on Tuesday). All in all, a worthwhile visit.Written February 18, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. An unstable terrain to build on! Its present-day exterior is the result of the transformation of the original mid-nineteenth century Gothic Revival church in the 1940s. When cracks started to appear in the walls architect Paul Rome encased the building in a brick and concrete Art Deco shell.
Inside, the church is all pointed neo-Gothic vaults and arches but we spotted several marble and wood Art Nouveau confessionals and a marble Art Nouveau vestibule at the entrance towards rue Alphonse De Witte. Worth a quick look around.Written November 1, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
