Driver reportedly with gun forces closure of North Carson Street near Medical Parkway after pursuit through Washoe Valley

UPDATE 7:12PM: The suspect, a male adult, is in custody, according to Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong. He was taken to Washoe County Jail where he faces multiple charges. His name has not been released. A pit bull, which was also in the vehicle, was taken to the Nevada Humane Society.

UPDATE 6PM: According to Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong, law enforcement is attempting to negotiate with the driver, who is sitting in the vehicle armed with a gun.

UPDATE 5:38PM: Additional law enforcement and SWAT has been called to the scene as the suspect driver, believed to be armed, is refusing to give up. Motorists and people are advised to stay clear of the area. North Carson Street is closed in both directions near the incident scene. Northbound and southbound I-580 has been reopened.

UPDATE 4:57 PM: The vehicle pursuit ended on North Carson Street near Silver Oak Drive and Medical Parkway where the suspect vehicle hit a power pole after losing its tires from spikes thrown down by NHP. The suspect, in a red pickup, was not giving into commands to get out of the vehicle and is surrounded by law officers.

I-580 in both the southbound and northbound lanes near Bowers Mansion was closed Tuesday afternoon due to an incident involving a driver who failed to yield and was seen with a gun.

The Nevada Highway Patrol and the Carson City Sheriff's Office responded Tuesday afternoon at around 4 p.m. to I-580 north of Carson City on Tuesday afternoon to an incident involving a driver that had earlier failed to yield during a traffic stop in Reno.

The driver was spotted in their vehicle holding a gun.

The vehicle was then seen heading in the direction of southbound Old Highway 395 near Eastlake with at least one tire damaged due to a spike strip. The vehicle then headed into Carson City taking the North Carson City exit, heading south on Carson Street.

Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies and NHP have shut down the northbound and southbound lanes of I-580 near Bellevue Road.

On Tuesday, Tahoe Forest Products held a community meeting in Indian Hills regarding the construction of a sawmill on Washoe tribal land behind Topsy Lane south of Carson City.

The site of the sawmill, according to developers, is being built on the site of the historic Carson and Tahoe Lumber and Fluming Company, which began during the time of the Comstock Lode discovery.

It was confirmed Tuesday that the deceased body found by divers in a car at Prosser Reservoir on Sunday, August 21 was 16-year-old Kiely Rodni of Truckee.

An independent diving team informed Nevada County and Placer County, Calif., law enforcement Sunday afternoon that it has located a vehicle submerged at Prosser Creek Reservoir and said 16-year-old Kiely Rodni, who has been missing since August 6, was inside the vehicle.
Placer County and Nevada County sheriff's offices have not confirmed the information.
