Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn's 'Maidaan' saw a slight increase in collection on April 17, Wednesday. According to trade estimates, the film is said to have earned around Rs 2 crore net in India. During the weekdays, 'Maidaan' has been struggling at the box office by earning approximately Rs 1.5 crore every day. The film needs to pick up momentum during the second weekend to sustain in theatres.

'Maidaan' released in theatres on April 11, with paid previews on April 10. The film clashed with action thriller, 'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan', on the occasion of Eid.

Compared to Day 6 numbers, it looks like 'Maidaan' saw a slight jump in collection on April 17. Going by the initial trade reports, the film is said to have collected around Rs 2 crore net at the domestic box office. Despite receiving positive reviews from all quarters, the film hasn't performed well in theatres.

The seven-day total collection of 'Maidaan' now stands at Rs 27.10 crore net in India. The film had an overall occupancy of 14.30 per cent on April 17.

Directed by Amit Sharma, 'Maidaan is a biographical sports drama featuring Ajay Devgn in the role of football coach, Syed Abdul Rahim. He was a football coach in India between 1952 and 1962 and helped India receive worldwide recognition.

The screenplay is co-written by Salwyn Quadras, Aman Rai, Atul Shahi and Amit Sharma. Apart from Ajay Devgn, the film features Priyamani, Gajaraj Rao, Devyansh Tripathi, Boney Kapoor, Nitanshi Goel and Aayesha Vindhara in pivotal roles. The sports drama is jointly produced by Zee Studios, Bayview Projects and Fresh Lime Films.
