Bollywood box office is inching towards normalcy post the shutdown of theatres for several months. Weeks after Sooryavanshi had a theatrical release with a smash, two mass entertainers with top stars of the industry in the lead - Antim The Final Truth and Satyamev Jayate 2 - released in Indian theatres over the weekend.

Headlined by Salman Khan, Antim: The Final Truth collected $2.4 million (Rs 18.8 crore) over the weekend. John Abraham’s Satyamev Jayate 2, that also released this weekend, earned $0.12 million (Rs 9.5 crore) in four days in the domestic market.

Directed by Mahesh Manjrekar,  Antim The Final Truth had a rather disappointing opening - it collecting a mere $0.70 million (Rs 5.03 crore). Satyamev Jayate 2, a sequel to John Abraham’s 2018 film Satyamev Jayate, made an opening collection of $3997.04 (Rs 3 crore).

Both the films picked up over the weekend, but the collections did not match trade expectations, despite the star-value of the lead actors in both movies. Khan has an extended cameo in Antim The Final Truth, while Abraham essays three roles in Satyamev Jayate 2.

Antim The Final Truth also features Ayyush Sharma, Khan’s brother-in-law, in the lead. Mahesh Manjrekar and Mahima Makwana also feature in the movie. The movie is an adaptation of the 2018 Marathi hit Mulshi Pattern.

While the new Bollywood releases had a slow run at the box office, Akshay Kumar-starrer Sooryavanshi continued its successful stint at the ticket windows. Directed by Rohit Shetty, the film has earned $25.19 million (Rs 189.12 crore) in 24 days (till Sunday). Over the past weekend alone, Sooryavanshi collected $0.58 million (Rs 4.19 crore).

Sooryavanshi also made an overseas collection $ 8.1 million (Rs 60.8 crore). The worldwide collection of the movie, that marks the fourth film in Shetty’s “cop universe” stands at $ 33.3 million (Rs 250 crore). Shetty’s “cop universe” started with Ajay Devgn’s Singham in 2011. It was followed by Singham Returns in 2014 and then Ranveer Singh-starrer Simmba in 2018.

Featuring Katrina Kaif alongside Kumar, Sooryavanshi released across 1300 screens outside India across 66 countries. The film also had guest appearances by Singh and Devgn. In India, the film released across 3519 screens on November 5.
