DESCRIPTION OF WORK

Health Facility Quality Examiners (HFQE) are responsible for conducting surveys, investigating complaint allegations, and answering regulatory questions to providers in Home Health, Hospice, Dialysis, Pediatric Extended Care Centers, Birth Centers, Outpatient Rehabilitation, and Community Outpatient Rehabilitation and Home Care (non-skilled).  Work tasks are completed independently or as a member of a team with frequent travel to agencies/facilities and/or patient residences to observe care, interview patients, family members and/or staff members and review documentation.  Through analysis, evaluation and assured compliance with both Federal and State regulations, the HFQE can make a positive impact to Pennsylvanians and their families.
 
Work Hours and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday - Friday, with a 30 minute lunch period
  • Irregular work hours.
  • Statewide and overnight travel.
  • Overtime as needed.

  • You will have the opportunity to work from home (telework) full-time on days that you are not out on survey at a facility.  In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection.  If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Norristown.




REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Experience and Training Requirements - A bachelor's degree in nursing and one year of related professional experience; OR an equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Necessary Special Requirement:  Possession of a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing; or possession of a non-renewable temporary practice permit issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
  • Condition of Employment:  Nursing specialty area employees possessing non-renewable temporary practice permits must obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse within the one year period as defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
  • PA residency currently waived for this title
