You can’t go wrong with Michael! Every song on this album is fabulous!!!

I remember when this CD first came out. I saw it in the store, picked it up, read the back and then decided not to get it. I figured I already had the cuts on it on other CD's and "really how much more could you do in a re-mix". I ordered this from Amazon when MJ died and have just now been able to listen to it(too saddened by his death). If you do not have this CD please get it. It's one of the last CD's that MJ produced and it is a hip-grinding cruncher. Every single on it is tight, aggressive, thumping, and original in it's re-mix. Blood on the Dance Floor starts it off and if you aren't moving in the middle of it--well then you must be dead because it hits the ground running. Check out the re-mix of Scream with the underlying Sly and The Family Stone's "Thank you fa Lettin' me Be Myself". Just surprising and awesome. It's starts off soft and gentle and in the end it's a teeth grinder. Check out # 10. I couldn't keep still! I'm so sorry that I didn't support this CD when it came out. To make amends I'm posting this review in the hopes that others buy this and discover (again and some more!) just how great a producer and singer MJ was. Also the fabulous Teddy (New Jack Swing "Yup-Yup") Riley is also a producer. Nobody does a thumpin' beat like Teddy. Get this CD, throw it on during a party and watch people tear themselves to bits trying to keep up. You will not be dissapointed.

Michael is my God. My King. My light. And my life.
I got this CD the day it came out in 1997. I have had it since then, and just this week received my replacement copy to put into my ITunes.
This album as far as the remixes go, YES are very good and catchy. I myself, prefer Michaels original work. Most of his die hard fans love Michaels original work over remixes any day. Songs that are my top favorite are:
Blood on the dance floor for its up beat dance groove sound and the beat itself. Michaels noises at the end are just lovely.
Superfly Sister is my second as I love the message and the beat.
Then of course most peoples favorite, Ghost. The video for that was A MASTERPIECE. The song is fascinating as it just tells a story that only the man can tell. Michael Jackson.
As a Michael Lover this album is a must. It's just one of those albums that kind of is like the HIStory albums and Bad, you just have to own them for their masterpiece works.
I wouldn't say a person who just likes his music in general would like this. I think you wouldn't really understand the messages behind the music. But.. none the less, it's still a good listen.
Overall five stars and Michael is my baby. Buy it.

The cover art provides a pretty accurate interpretation of this package's contents. Surrounded by greyish-yellow storm clouds, Michael Jackson wears a blood-red suit, face contorted to an angry scream, fists clenched, body poised for physical aggression. Sure enough, darkness, violence, alienation, and sexual torment fill this disc to a point HISTORY could only dream about--and then wake up screaming.
This review focuses on the five original songs due to the fact that MJ's musical vision was at genius level, with near-perfect instincts. MJ's proven ear for song arrangement, going all the way back to his Jackson 5 days, renders alterations of the songs from HISTORY superfluous. The sonic complexity of the original songs don't sound like anything MJ's ever done previous with the title track standing out as the best.
Blood on the Dance Floor, the title track co-written by MJ, unveils a bent snake of a woman whose degenerate and deceitful nature makes the female stars of Billie Jean, Dirty Diana, Who Is It, and Dangerous look like kindergarteners. She backstabs "seven inches in" leaving "blood on the dance floor." Though this is a dance groove, we've left the escapism of OFF THE WALL far behind in yesteryear. Co-written and produced by Teddy Riley.
Upon initial release, Morphine may have sounded like a mockery of prescription drug addiction, specifically, a mockery of the preoccupation regarding MJ's drug addiction. The operatic bridge goes so far as to make sarcastic reference to his reported drug of choice--"Oh God, he's taking Demerol!" However, with MJ's untimely demise (homicide) from chemical intoxication, this song now resonates with pure horror, making the presence of the Andre Crouch Choir disconcerting. Slash on guitar, however, makes sense for a metal rock song.
Superfly Sister is a song about the disillusionment and disappointment of sex without love, being unequally yoked in marriage, and an attempt to understand these situations through religion. It is also somewhat repetitive with "push it in, stick it out, that ain't what it's all about" reflecting boredom with a particular physical exercise that involves no intimacy. New Jack beats. Written and arranged by MJ. New Jack beats. Instrumentation by Bryan Loren.
Ghosts reveals a fear of the supernatural reminiscent of MJ's Heartbreak Hotel and Thriller, as well as Steven King's The Shining. Ghosts and ghouls glide down the hall, slide up the wall, and lay siege to a sleeper's bed. However, it is the ghost of jealousy that threatens true happiness. New Jack beats by Teddy Riley. Written and composed by MJ and Teddy Riley.
Unlike Heartbreak Hotel, Thriller, and Ghosts, the fear with Is It Scary originates from inside the self. Fear of being different, abnormal, ostracized. Not quite identifiable as New Jack. Written, composed, and arranged by Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis, and MJ.
Though the remixes were authorized through official channels, they add not much significant or relevant to the original works. For instance, Scream Louder actually softens the hard beats and biting shouts of defiance and rage to a mild (ordinary) club groove. This effort and the remixes that follow all the way to MJ's post-humous works, prove time and again that only MJ can improve MJ.
MJ successfully inspired his New Jack producers to take his deranged nightmares to another level of innovative song arrangement. That among many other traits, makes MJ a genius and makes this disc worth a listen. Feel free to sleep with the lights on afterward, if needed.
