This was my first time at Black Rock. I have been to other restaurants with a similar concept but It's a very unique concept nonetheless.
Your main dish (meat or seafood) comes out along with a 750 degree "rock" which you use to cook to your liking. I ordered the steak and kielbasa. It comes with a fantastic herb butter which adds tons of flavor. With your entree you also get soup/ salad and a side. I ordered clam chowder and asparagus. I thought this place was great. It isn't an upscale place but i can see this concept targeting a higher end market easily.

We were at the Canton location - the service was VERY slow and the restaurant was not very busy.
Our person was lovely, friendly, and all, just very slow. I'm guessing they are under-staffed. The food was pretty good. We all had steak - it seems like there is no seasoning so the salt and pepper mills at the table were put to good use. The shrimp skewers came with a good dose of seasoning. The Mac n cheese as ok at best. The shrimp scampi had a strong garlic and pepper flavor - some liked it and some did not.
Apparently this location is family owned and not the company owned locations as was explained when someone ordered the Creamed Corn and was told they've never had that at this location and that it shouldn't even be on the menu because they do not serve it.

Service was exceptional but the food is mediocre. Grilling a steak at home is better than have it sizzle and spit out at the restaurant table. Plus the steak was bland. It's literally just as promised. Meat on a hot rock. TA DA!
You'll need zip sauce to dip it because it lacks preparation, love and flavor on it's own.

Hi Cindy, I'm sorry how the experience went. If you decide to try us again, we do offer to cook the steak for you as well. Although our Stone cooking process does savor 20% of the natural flavor of the steak, our chefs are ready to make your steak delicious.

I like Black Rock's food and atmosphere, but it isn't a place to go for a quick lunch. The service is definitely a slower pace.
When I arrived at lunchtime I wasn't sure that the restaurant was open. I walked in and didn't see anyone, no other diners and no employees. But soon a server came to the front of the restaurant and seated me at a booth. Very slow business for a Friday afternoon!
I ordered a roadhouse burger, subbing an Impossible burger for the beef. It was very good. The Cajun fries were excellent. I really like the BBQ sauce they use on the burger.
By the time I received my food there was only one other table of diners in the restaurant. It was very, very slow. I'm surprised that they are even open for lunch if they often have so little lunch business.
My server was friendly but I had to wait a bit to be seated, wait to place my order, wait for food, wait for drinks, wait to pay.
The desserts here are wonderful. But today I was dining by myself and didn't order a dessert as they are definitely sharable sized.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Megan rocks!
Out of ribeyes? Really? Sigh... Filet was good, but my heart was set on a ribeye. Sweet potato was served hot and properly prepared. Thank goodness Megan gave me the option of deleting the marshmallow goo.
Smokey inside, but that is to be expected when the cooking is DiY.
Restroom was clean.

We came in on a Wednesday around 5pm not busy at all but also no one at the door greeting or seating people, Odd... We waited, then walked to the bar.. ghost town. Finally someone came from the kitchen and went and got a host.
We came in for a steak and lobster special. It's not our first visit but we haven't not been here in a while. Things really seemed to have changed at this location.
After getting our appetizers we noticed there is no silverware, no salt no pepper, no napkins, no straw for drink. Basic stuff you need.
There used to be a sauce option for dipping but i guess that's gone because we weren't presented an option.

Been here a few times to take advantage of deals from time to time. Father's Day and a couple of birthdays are always a great reason to come here. Seasoning and cooking my steak & shrimp perfectly on the rock is pretty cool. The service is ALWAYS wonderful by being nice. My Grandkids love the spinach dip, the beer selection is nice and the drinks made just right.

Wow - love to bring this plaće back home to Illinois. Blackrock Burger for me and sizzling shrimp with filet medalions. Throw in a few smoked old fashions and a dynamite shrimp appetizer. Perfect way to celebrate our grandson's team winnung their first game of a weekend Hockey tournament!

When there for my son's birthday. They were out of ribs and couldn't make Asian stir fry!!! They don't have food on menus stay away!!!!

Hey John, I’m very sorry to hear how things went. We unfortunately had an oven fail on us and was squeezing food in one all day it was a minor set back. But when you visit again I promise we will be be prepared as normal.
