"Tell them the Man in Black sent you."
―Black Adam to Sabbac[src]

Teth-Adam is a former champion of the Council of Wizards. After his son Hurut was made the Council's champion to liberate Kahndaq, he gave his wounded father the powers of the Egyptian Gods that were bestowed on him. However, Hurut was subsequently killed by assassins of King Ahk-Ton, so Adam slaughtered his court and nearly destroyed Kahndaq itself. This led to him facing down with the Council of Wizards, nearly all of whom he killed, bar Shazam, who imprisoned him.

Five thousand years later, Teth-Adam was freed by Adrianna Tomaz to once again help liberate Kahndaq, fighting Intergang forces while trying to adjust to a new age thanks to Amon Tomaz. However, due to his brutal murders, Adam became the focus of the Justice Society, who headed to Kahndaq to stop him. Adam briefly confronted them until they managed to call a truce, having to save Amon from Ishmael Gregor. During the course of the rescue, Adam had disagreements with Hawkman over how criminals should be treated. Once Amon was saved, Adam turned himself in, being imprisoned in the Task Force X Black Site, until being telepathically released by Kent Nelson, to help the Society kill Gregor, becoming the new hero of Kahndaq and referring to himself as Black Adam, to better suit modern times. Adam was soon threatened by Amanda Waller not to leave his nation, sending Superman to dialogue with him.

Biography[]

Early life[]

Slave in Kahndaq[]

Teth-Adam was born in the African nation of Kahndaq before 2600 B.C., growing up in a slave family that was constantly tortured by the nation's leaders who sent him to the mines. Due to the injustices that tormented him, Adam developed a hatred against his leaders, but he was always full of courage and bravery to attend to situations that required it. Eventually, Adam married a woman named Shiruta, who would give birth to a son, Hurut. From an early age, Adam taught his son that the world they lived in was a dangerous one, despite Hurut's wishes to improve it.[2][3]

―Teth-Adam to Hurut[src]

Teth-Adam headed to claim some apples in the village one day, until he was interrupted by an excited Hurut, who came running to find a trinket to give to his mother Shiruta, while Adam reminded him to return to the mines for his own safety.

Teth-Adam then approached the seller to claim more than one apple, to which he initially refused, arguing that it was only one apple per worker. Adam then raised his eyebrow in astonishment, causing the seller to give him one more apple for his double work in the mines. Teth-Adam took the apple and thanked the seller before leaving with his son, and as they walked, he asked Hurut to throw away the trinket before someone noticed him.

Massacre in Kahndaq[]

"Seven thrones of seven wizards. But long ago, we chose a champion and we chose recklessly. He used his power for revenge, releasing the Seven Deadly Sins into your world. Millions of lives were lost. Entire civilizations erased from existence. That is why I vowed never to pass on my magic until I find one truly good person. Strong in spirit, pure in heart."

This led to the inadvertent release of the Seven Deadly Sins upon Kahndaq, killing millions and causing the destruction of several other ancient civilizations during the process.[2]

Confinement[]

Adam was reported missing by the people, and his actions as the champion were recognized by the entire Kahndaqi population who considered him a hero, along with Hurut's actions as the champion being attributed to Adam. The story of Teth-Adam defeating Ahk-Ton became recognized as a myth over the years, eventually a statue was built in Kahndaq in honor of Teth-Adam, and multiple ancient texts about Adam's battle against the king were written, which were kept secret for centuries until found by A.R.G.U.S.. Since then, over the generations and with the passing of multiple invader strikes, many people have held out hope that one day the champion Teth-Adam would return to save Kahndaq.[1]

For centuries, the wizard Shazam attempted to find someone pure enough of heart to carry the mantle. In 1974, the Wizard thought he had come close with a young boy named Thaddeus Sivana. But the corruption that the Seven Sins offered tempted him, and like Teth-Adam before, he started to give in. The Wizard was thus forced to return the boy and continue the search. It was only until the modern era that the wizard Shazam would choose Billy Batson as his new champion. When bringing Batson to the Rock of Eternity, the Wizard briefly recounted the history of Teth-Adam's tragic tale, showing Batson a hologram of Teth-Adam's costly rampage across the Earth.[2]

At some point during Teth-Adam's imprisonment, the hero Doctor Fate was combatting a demon when he was forced by the demon to experience a vision that showed him of Teth-Adam sitting on a throne after having slayed all of the new and old members of the Justice Society, including Fate himself, with a demon overlooking the landscape in pleasure. In this vision, asteroids and comets were seen hurtling down to the flaming apocalyptic landscape that had formed around Teth-Adam, with the demon implying that Teth-Adam would play a big part in the ultimate defeat of the Justice Society.[6]

Personality[]

"I'm not peaceful. Nor do I surrender."
―Teth-Adam[src]

Adam grew up as a slave in Kahndaq, being constantly mistreated and exploited by his leaders, which generated hatred towards them, but he was always full of courage and bravery to attend to situations that required it. Raising his son Hurut, Teth-Adam always tried to protect him from any evil, teaching him from an early age that the world they lived in was a dangerous one, contrasting with his son's premature desires to improve it. At some point, when Hurut observed how some gladiators mistreated a slave, he was about to help him, however Adam stopped him and told him that they couldn't do anything about it no matter how much they wanted to. However, Teth-Adam took pride in his son's morality and sense of fairness and justice, as Adam eventually smiled as Hurut handed his slice of bread to some slaves in need, telling Shiruta that he felt there was still hope in Kahndaq.

Following the sudden death of his wife and son at the hands of King Ahk-Ton's forces, Adam was left traumatized and filled with emotional pain, which led him to became brutal, vengeful, cold, ruthless, and aggressive after the loss of his family to Akh-Ton's forces, Adam began misusing his powers and accidentally releasing the Seven Deadly Sins upon his family's murderers and the rest of the people of Kahndaq, killing millions. Having become invincible and taking revenge on his former leaders, Adam developed a strong ego that allowed him to consider himself unable to surrender to anyone. Teth-Adam also developed a twisted sense of justice, using a methodology where the ends (protecting Kahndaq) justify the means, so Black Adam doesn't mind coldly hurting and killing people to get what he wants. All these heinous acts caused him to be declared unworthy by the Council of Wizards, who tried to bury him and revoke his powers, however, Adam completely refused to surrender, killed the Council of Wizards as well, until he was finally buried by the wizard Shazam.

Waking up in a modern world, Teth-Adam had a hard time adjusting, but continuing his brutal and vengeful nature, Adam murdered every Intergang soldier who got in his way, but taking pity on Adrianna Tomaz and Karim by instinctively saving them from being killed. a stone fell on them, because his divine wisdom predicted that they would be important in the near future. After some time and finding himself in the Tomaz residence, Teth-Adam was uncomfortable with Amon Tomaz's questions, but having compassion for the child, he simply asked him to get out of his way, even remarking that he was not a hero when he asked him to save Kahndaq. Likewise, Adam in his impression with the modern world, is surprised when he finds himself with a mirror or witnesses a television, believing that it was magic from sorcerers, Adam destroyed the television, and finding himself painful that the land in which he used to life would have changed, he went out to explore Shiruta City, curious about a statue dedicated to the champion of Kahndaq. Adam also does not have caution or care for other people's property, destroying the walls of the Tomaz residence instead of using the doors, this was even led to Kent Nelson pointing it out to him.

Due to the danger Teth-Adam represented in the eyes of A.R.G.U.S., the Justice Society was sent in in an attempt to stop him, to which Adam, seeing himself threatened by them and unwilling to surrender, referred to himself as a god and that he would not kneel before anyone, easily gaining the upper hand. confrontation. Annoyed with the Justice Society and especially with Hawkman, Teth-Adam even threatened to kill them if they wanted to continue fighting, when Hawkman mentioned not disagreeing with fighting, Adam smiled. As soon as Amon Tomaz was kidnapped and Adrianna begged him to save him, Teth-Adam did not hesitate to go to the rescue and save him, killing every soldier who got in his way, which led him to have an ethical conflict with Hawkman, who was trying to convince him not to kill people since it was not something heroes should do, to which Adam remarked that he would kill if necessary, causing a brief confrontation between them. Adam was also open to having a sense of humor, adopting sarcasm when Kent Nelson mocked Adam saying he wouldn't murder people, Teth-Adam was soon sarcastic by mentioning that he loved teaming up with the Justice Society, only to then attack the Al Hadidiyah Mine, ignoring Hawkman's plans.

Finding himself provoked by Ishmael Gregor who mentioned being a descendant of Ahk-Ton and mocked Hurut's death, as well as shooting Amon Tomaz, Teth-Adam unleashed all his wrath on preventing Amon's death and then took revenge by murdering Ishmael. Gregor, generating an explosion that destroyed everything around him, and if the Justice Society had not intervened, the Tomaz would have died. The intentional taunting of Adam allowed Gregor to be killed just as the Crown of Sabbac was placed, traveling to the underworld to gain demonic powers. Meanwhile, Teth-Adam was completely hurt and sorry for the damage he could have caused as well as all the massacres he committed in the past, so he finally decided to renounce his powers, traveling back to the palace of King Ahk-Ton to reflect on his actions, after Hawkman demanded his surrender and no longer feeling worthy of being the champion, Adam returned to his civilian form and voluntarily surrendered upon learning that no one could defeat him, asking Hawkman to lock him up and that they ensure he does not transform again, soon imprisoning him at the Task Force X Black Site.

After Sabbac threatened to destroy Kahndaq, Kent Nelson awakened Teth-Adam in an attempt to stop him, convincing him that despite not being chosen by the Council of Wizards, he was worthy and destined to fight Sabbac. stating that he was wrong and that the world needed him, motivating Adam to escape from his prison by fighting A.R.G.U.S. guards. Remembering his son's legacy, Adam reactivated his powers and traveled back to Kahndaq, where he demonstrated that despite having to deal with overwhelming pain, Adam still had kindness in his heart and he was truly willing to give up his powers and/or sacrifice himself to protect Kahndaq and all of its inhabitants, even at the cost of his life, saving a group of civilians from having a statue fall on them and killing Sabbac with the help of Hawkman, after the battle, Adam ended up being more empathetic towards the Justice Society, even agreeing with Atom Smasher that they made a good team. Accepting his rightful role as the hero of Kahndaq, Teth-Adam finally agreed to protect the nation, but after being goaded to sit on Ahk-Ton's former throne, he deemed it wrong due to all the former king's atrocities, destroying it. Being more open to Amon's initial proposals to become a hero, Adam agreed to change his name to Black Adam, but still maintained his ego as the most powerful being on the planet, Adam was not afraid to confront Waller when she threatened him to stay in Kahndaq, causing Superman to arrive to request to talk.

Black Adam is able to travel thousands of kilometers in a few seconds, this is shown when he went around the world in a few seconds while fighting an Intergang ship, with this he also gains accelerated perception being able to see the world around him in slow motion, in this way, Adam was able to see time in slow motion to be able to face off against the Intergang soldiers after his release, leaving everything in a condition so that when he returned to see time normally, he could generate an explosion that would kill almost every soldier. Teth-Adam by using his speed, was also able to rescue Amon Tomaz when a soldier threw him from his flying ship and soon caught a soldier by surprise when he tried to escape by running quickly in front of him, likewise Teth-Adam returned in a matter of seconds from the Al Hadidiyah Mine to the palace of King Ahk-Ton and from the Task Force X Black Site facility to Kahndaq.
    • Superhuman Reflexes:
Adam stopping bullets with his hand using his reflexes

Adam stopping bullets with his hand using his reflexes

Black Adam's superhuman speed also extends to his reflexes, being able to catch bullets and missiles before they even hit him. Using his advanced reflexes, Teth-Adam managed to catch an eternium missile in mid-air very easily after being warned by Karim, later while trying to defend Adrianna and Amon Tomaz, Adam was able to prevent all shots from an Intergang soldier by positioning his hand in front of him and targeting where the bullets were going by moving his hand to stop them.
  • Superhuman Agility: Black Adam possesses agility far above the human level, allowing him to leap long distances with extreme ease, on some occasions Teth-Adam combines his advanced jump to later fly. Adam demonstrated his ability to do great leaps after waking up from his grave, where he charged an Intergang soldier into the air, then leaped hard and slammed him to the ground.
  • Flight: Black Adam is able to levitate and fly, using it as a way to move faster without having to walk, by mastering this power, Teth-Adam can fly at hypersonic speeds that allow him to traverse the Earth in a matter of moments, this is demonstrated when Adam he chased an Intergang ship flying at high speed to rescue Amon Tomaz, and after he had regained his powers, it only took Teth-Adam a few moments to fly from Antarctica to the nation of Kahndaq.

Strength of Amon[]

  • Superhuman Strength:
Adam throwing an Intergang soldier into the air

    Adam throwing an Intergang soldier

Black Adam is extremely strong, being able to lift colossal weights, or send human flying for miles with a simple punch or fling. He can even damage the wing of an F-35 with one punch and clap his hands to create a mighty sonic boom. This makes it extremely easy for him to brutally kill most of his enemies or destroy everything in his way, which meant he quickly became a threat to A.R.G.U.S., who send the Justice Society in an attempt to stop him with little avail, and that even Adam threatened to kill them if they decided to continue fighting him. Using his superhuman strength, Teth-Adam massacred entire civilizations until he was entombed by the Council of Wizards, once he was freed, Adam began murdering Intergang soldiers by hitting several of them with just his fist, even cutting off the arm of one of them. After escaping from the tomb, Adam pushed one helicopter into another to destroy it, soon creating a supersonic wave that killed several soldiers. Later, finding himself in the Tomaz residence, Teth-Adam destroyed a wall just by walking into it, also pushing the sofa Karim was on, Adam then destroyed the walls again to go out and explore the city. When Teth-Adam defended the Tomaz from the Intergang, he seized a soldier and threw him with great force into the sea. Later when facing the Justice Society, Teth-Adam was not afraid to hit Hawkman as much as necessary when he was threatened by him, fighting even in the air, recharging a lot of power, Adam after being crushed by Atom Smasher, flew to hit him in face, causing him to faint. Eventually seeking to save Amon Tomaz, Teth-Adam struck several Intergang flying motorcycles, grabbing several riders and throwing them to the ground, leading him to find the final target rider which he launched into some mountains, repenting soon after upon contacting Doctor Fate. Threatening to kill two soldiers if they did not reveal Amon's location, Adam held two soldiers up in the air forcing them to confess, however these actions led to a confrontation with Hawkman, who attempted to attack him, but Adam fought back by punching him in the face. and grabbing his leg to throw him against a wall in an effort to make him surrender. Teth-Adam's force soon led him to invade the Al Hadidiyah Mine, destroying everything in his path. Later, when he was forced to face Sabbac, Adam saved the Kahndaqi population from having a large-ton statue fall on them, lifting it and handing it over to Atom Smasher. Pound for pound, his level of strength is close to that of Superman.[8]

Wisdom of Zehuti[]

"I knew you would save them. That's why I could drop them. We got the information we needed, and they're not dead. I did it your way."
―Black Adam to Hawkman[src]
  • Superhuman Wisdom: Black Adam possesses wisdom beyond the human level, guiding him to make better decisions and improving his intellect. This is shown when Black Adam instinctively saved Adrianna Tomaz even without knowing who she was and how important she will be to him in the near future. He was also able to learn to speak English and adapt to the modern world quickly. Being aware that Hawkman was going to save some Intergang soldiers, Teth-Adam took them to a great height threatening to drop them if they did not reveal the location of Amon Tomaz, after obtaining the information he wanted, Adam made the decision to launch the soldiers, knowing that Hawkman would come to rescue them, fulfilling Hawkman's wishes not to kill people.
    • Bilingualism: Teth-Adam, in addition to speaking his native Kahndaqi language, is able to perfectly understand and speak the English language which he communicates with the modern world.
  • Enhanced Senses: Black Adam has his senses heightened to a level above that of a human, allowing him to have a better sense of his surroundings. When Teth-Adam rivaled Hawkman, Adam was able to use his senses to get ahead of him and prevent them, then fly up and take him by surprise. Eventually, Teth-Adam was also able to sense a statue about to fall on the Kahndaqi population, so he quickly flew to avoid it.
    • Telescopic Vision: Black Adam was able to see the statue of his son through a small window from a distance.
    • Enhanced Hearing: Black Adam has much greater hearing than a human, which allows him to perceive his surroundings more clearly. Black Adam was able to hear Amon Tomaz begging for help even though he was several meters above the ground and relatively far away.

Power of Aten[]

  • Electrokinesis:
    Black Adam kills

    Adam electrocuting an Intergang soldier

Black Adam is capable of emitting energy discharges through his body which he manifests mainly through his hands and that he can use as energy blasts against his opponents, his electrokinetic powers have led him to be able to turn humans into ashes in seconds, as well as generate giant electrical blasts, which he can summon by drawing energy, as seen when he destroys King Ahk-Ton's castle with an electrical blast. When Adam is filled with electrical energy, he can manifest it not only in his hands, but throughout his entire body, including emitting electricity through his eyes. With his electrical powers, Adam was able to kill the Council of Wizards, thousands of years later upon awakening from his grave, Adam began his massacre by electrocuting an Intergang soldier to dust, soon emitting lightning bolts that electrocuted the rest, Likewise, while escaping from the tomb, Adam released a lightning bolt that transmitted through all the nearby soldiers. Upon being hit by an eternium missile, Adam is left with an electric wound, and when he is passed out on the ground, it emits sparks of electricity, causing Karim and Adrianna Tomaz to be insecure about touching him to take him to their residence. Adam soon woke up electrocuting Karim's television, and later electrocuting a group of Intergang soldiers in favor of defending the Tomaz. When Teth-Adam is forced to confront the Justice Society, he tried to electrocute Hawkman and Doctor Fate, where with a discharge of energy, he threw Hawkman against a car where he began to electrocute him until the team managed to corner him, at which point that Adam must have soon emitted a beam to destroy a car thrown by Hawkman at him. Being crushed by the Atom Smasher, Adam gathered all the energy around him to break free from it. Later, while searching for Amon Tomaz, Teth-Adam electrocuted several soldiers to get him to safety, eventually leading him to invade the Al Hadidiyah mine, where he again used electricity to his advantage. When Ishmael Gregor shot Amon, Adam in all his anger emitted a large electrical explosion that killed him but destroyed everything around him and could have killed Amon and Adrianna if the Justice Society did not intervene, for this very reason Adam ended up wanting to give up his power and be imprisoned. After being freed and having to face Sabbac, Teth-Adam used his electricity to interrupt his adversary's mind, grabbing him by the horns and emitting his energy until he could split him in two, eventually when provoked by Amanda Waller, Black Adam destroys a drone from A.R.G.U.S. launching a beam of energy.
    • Electricity Absorption: Black Adam can absorb an external electrical energy source to recharge his body's energy reserves, this is shown when Adam began absorbing energy from televisions and light poles around him to build up enough energy to get out of the Atom Smasher's smash and hit him in the face.
  • Accelerated Healing: Black Adam, on the rare occasions when he is injured, manages to recover from his injuries at a much greater speed than humans. After defeating Sabbac in battle, it didn't take long for Teth-Adam to completely heal from the scars on his suit caused by the demonic hellfire attacks, leaving no record of ever having had them before.
    • Electrical Healing: Black Adam is able to use his electricity to heal his wounds, this is proven after Adam was struck by an eternium missile explosion and woke up from his blackout, where he easily healed himself by removing the bandage put on by Adrianna Tomaz and throwing a little lightning bolt at his wound with the tip of his index finger, which left him without any scars or any other record of having had the injury.

Courage of Mehen[]

Black Adam Trailer 047

Teth-Adam is unfazed

  • Nigh-Invulnerability: Adam is completely immune to almost all types of shots, as well as being hit with any type of objects, including melee weapons, so none of these attacks are capable of leaving any type of bruise on him or his suit, additionally objects that try to penetrate Adam end up destroyed. During his skirmish with the Justice Society, Teth-Adam proved his invulnerability as he was even crushed by Atom Smasher in the street and a car was thrown at him by Hawkman, however none of these attacks injured him or damaged his suit. Under this resistance, it is that Teth-Adam could not be killed in any way by King Ahk-Ton's gladiators after having become champion. When he woke up from his grave, Teth-Adam received multiple bullet shots by the soldiers from Intergang, but being bulletproof, he did not suffer any damage, even claiming to the mercenaries that their shots were weak magic, making it extremely easy for him to kill them all. After escaping from the cave, the soldiers tried to attack him with missiles and turrets, however none of these weapons were able to penetrate him, until a soldier dared to launch an eternium missile at him that managed to render him unconscious. Eventually upon waking up, Adam defended the Tomaz from Intergang soldiers where one of them tried to hit him with a baton without Adam suffering for it, which ended with the soldier's death, Adam then played with his invulnerability to bullets to stop them only with his hand. During his quest to save Amon Tomaz from Intergang, Teth-Adam was also immune to the shots the soldiers on the hovercycles tried to hit him with, later when destroying one of the ships against a ranch, Teth-Adam crashed directly into the ground without taking any damage while holding the ship. When facing off against Hawkman, Carter tried to hit him by throwing furniture at Adam's face, which did not affect him in any way. Eventually when Adam decided to attack the Al Hadidiyah Mine in search of saving Amon from Ishmael Gregor, multiple soldiers again tried to stop Teth-Adam by firing bullets, to no avail.
  • Longevity: While empowered, Teth-Adam's aging has stopped, as he remains in his physical prime even after almost 5000 years. And even in his depowered form, he remains unfazed by the passage of time.

Abilities[]

  • Master Combatant:

    Adam fighting the A.R.G.U.S. guards

Even without his powers, Teth-Adam is extremely talented in hand-to-hand combat, as well as combining multiple forms of fighting. During his time living in ancient Kahndaq, Adam was forced to fight King Ahk-Ton's gladiators in an attempt to prevent his son from being executed, Adam managed to put up a brief fight before being suppressed by the authorities. Thousands of years later and having been awakened from his grave forging a truce with the Justice Society, Teth-Adam faced Hawkman in hand-to-hand combat where he combined his abilities with his superhuman strength, being able to hit him very easily, and to grab his leg to throw him against a wall. Eventually losing his powers and being freed by Doctor Fate from the Task Force X Black Site, Adam went on the lam, where he was able to single-handedly take down an entire squad of A.R.G.U.S. guards, even killing several of them. Along the way, Adam grabbed a soldier's arm and hit him with his rifle, before hitting two guards in the head and knocking them to the ground. Adam later battled Sabbac, who matched him in power, managing to defeat him with the help of Hawkman.
  • Intimidation: To be added
"I was a slave until I died. Then I was reborn a god. I kneel before no one."

  • Indomitable Will:
    Black Adam TV Spot 007

Black Adam stating he never surrenders

Black Adam, regarding himself as an unstoppable force that no being can defeat, has tremendous determination, bravery, and willpower, as he completely refuses to bow down and surrender against his enemies, even turning to Amanda Waller to tell her that there is no one on planet Earth who can stop him when she threatens him that Kahndaq was his prison. Initially, when Teth-Adam was declared unworthy by the Council of Wizards and they prepared to revoke his powers, Adam was not about to give up, so he quickly confronted them, murdering each one of them until the only wizard survivor, Shazam, managed to bury him in his grave. Thousands of years later, Adam awoke and set out to kill any Intergang soldiers who tried to get on top of him, succeeding very easily. Then, seeing himself threatened by the Justice Society who asked him to surrender, Adam remarked that considering himself a god, he did not kneel before anyone, quickly confronting them and demonstrating his power, forcing the society to rethink its strategy and make a truce with him. During the negotiation with the Justice Society, Adam threatened them not to be peaceful so he did not surrender either. When Amon Tomaz was kidnapped by Intergang, Teth-Adam went to great lengths to find him, even killing any soldiers who got in his way. After realizing all the destruction he caused trying to save Amon, Teth-Adam no longer felt worthy of being free, so he ended up giving up his powers to be imprisoned in Task Force X Black Site until being freed by Doctor Fate. Once Adam saved Kahndaq from Sabbac and redeemed himself as a hero, he was threatened by Amanda Waller to stay in his country, but knowing that no one could defeat him and that she threatened to send people who were not from Earth and who had a power level similar to Adam's, he was not afraid to ask her to send them all, to consecutively witness the arrival of Superman who asked him to talk.

Weaknesses[]

"Pure Eternium shield. Unbreakable, even with your powers."
Ishmael Gregor to Teth-Adam[src]
  • Eternium: Black Adam is vulnerable to the mineral Eternium and weapons made with the substance can damage him; an eternium missile launched by an Intergang soldier caused Teth-Adam to fall unconscious for a few hours, leaving him with a wound that soon healed. Teth-Adam was also unable to destroy an Eternium shield used by Ishmael Gregor, crashing into it and causing Adam to negotiate with Gregor not to kill Amon Tomaz.
"As long he's sumerged, he won't be able to speak. He'll never say another word again."
Kent Nelson[src]
  • Vocal Reliance: The spell that allows him to transform into his champion form is purely vocal, therefore, if he is prevented from speaking, such as being gagged, he will not be able to transform. This strategy was used by A.R.G.U.S. by imprisoning him in the Task Force X Black Site prison, placing a mask with an oxygen tube that would completely prevent him from speaking again, as well as locking him inside a capsule of water, making it difficult for him to escape by not being able to remove it until once outside the facility.
  • Magic: Even with his divine powers, Black Adam is still vulnerable to the effects of magic as although he managed to kill most of the wizards, they managed to imprison him after casting a large number of spells on him. Thousands of years later, upon awakening and confronting the Justice Society, Teth-Adam briefly received an attack in the form of a spell from Doctor Fate, who invoked crystalline fractals that caused Adam deep pain until he managed to free himself from them.
    • Demonic Powers: Even in his empowered form, Black Adam is vulnerable to those who are empowered by demons. During his confrontation with Sabbac, Gregor was able to almost kill him using his demonic powers, generating several scars on his suit every time Sabbac launched his hellfire attacks, so Adam needed Hawkman's help to defeat him.

  • Black Adam's suit: When he has the power of Black Adam, Teth-Adam wears a black suit, with a lightning bolt on his chest. Adam originally wore silver trims along with a black hood, which was destroyed by Intergang. After attempting to relinquish his powers and then transform back, the trims turned gold and a cape was forged into the suit.
