Billie Eilish’s hair color evolution: From green to blue to blond

Blonde no more! Billie Eilish recently shocked fans by going brunette, ditching the platinum dye job she’s had throughout her “Happier Than Ever” era.

But it’s far from the first time the “Bad Guy” hitmaker’s switched up her strands. A bona fide hair-color chameleon, the natural blonde has experimented with shades ranging from blue to black to purple over the past few years.

Below, take a look at Eilish’s complete hair color evolution — so far.

When Eilish first hit it big with her debut single “Ocean Eyes,” she was sporting pale, silvery gray strands — a hue she maintained throughout the following year as her star continued to rise.

Next, she debuted this striking azure shade, a fan favorite that she’d later admit she hated.

“Here’s what’s annoying: I hate the color blue — it’s my least favorite color. I don’t know how I ended up dying it blue,” Eilish told Buzzfeed in 2019.

“I was told that whoever dyed my hair in October used a permanent blue so that s—t is not coming out,” she continued. “I have sat in that stupid salon chair for hours, and hours, and hours, and hours, and hours, and hours, and hours, and hours, and hours, and hours, and hours, and hours, and hours, and hours, and hours trying to get that blue out and that b—h will not get the f—k out of my hair.”

By the end of the year, she’d managed to lighten her locks to this bluish-green hue.

By the following March, Eilish had gone over to the dark side.

And that summer, her now-signature neon roots — a style Eilish would stick with for well over a year — made their debut. But the constant dyeing came with drawbacks, leaving the star with an accidental mullet by November.

“You know what happened, somebody dyed my hair and they burned half of it off,” Eilish told TMZ of her short-in-front, long-in-back locks. “It’s not on purpose though. I’m growing that s—t out.”

In March 2021, Eilish broke the internet with her platinum dye job, sharing an Instagram photo that racked up a million likes in a record-setting six minutes.

According to Eilish’s British Vogue cover story, it took four dye sessions to erase every trace of her green-and-black ‘do; the star admitted that while she was “ready for it to suck”, she’s surprisingly happy with life as a blonde.

“I feel more like a woman, somehow,” she told the magazine.

In the first few days of 2022, the “Male Fantasy” crooner revealed that she’d secretly been a redhead for a week in November, during her transition from blonde to brunette.
