Distance is a very nice town right next to the San Bernido tunnel and pass. From here you can easily reach the beautiful Mont Blanc lift, from which you have a fantastic view of the mountain and the surrounding area. An unforgettable experience.

We stopped for a walk before returning to Milan.
It was a Sunday and many shops in the center were closed. It's a shame because some deserved to be open for the many tourists who wandered around the central Chanoux Square and the narrow streets.
We managed to purchase some Aosta Valley specialties but not as much as we would have liked.
Numerous restaurants, bars and wine bars.
However, it was pleasant to do the whole walk up to the Porta Praetoria with a look towards the mountains.

The Old Town of Aosta is charming, full of Roman buildings, dominated by a huge town hall built in 1841, pedestrian only with cobbled streets - as well of course as having restaurants, bars, ice-cream parlours, etc.

Nothing to say about the city, which is very nice and cozy, or about the people who are always kind and helpful, however if you decide to go there to visit the markets then I don't recommend it: there are very few, with only 1 or 2 offering food.

I had been to see the Christmas markets in Aosta a few years ago and I found them nice and special, especially due to the location near the Arco Augusto, I went back on Sunday and apart from the carnage to park which already makes you lose your desire, everything was a real disappointment, a dozen wooden houses in front of a church with the usual junk that is otherwise very expensive. Not really worth the cost of the trip.

second time we go to Aosta, very beautiful city, beautiful architecture, in 2015 during our previous visit, access to the monuments was free, this is no longer the case today. I found it a shame.

The city is contained and you can easily walk on foot with very interesting Roman monuments and the city walls, complete with an entrance door which is still almost completely preserved, in an excellent state of conservation. The Roman theater The Triumphal Arch the Praetorian Gate and also the Roman foundations in the library and in the Palace of the Region.

Old town Aosta is rather nice and included Roman ruins, old churches, and cobbled streets cheek by jowl with modern fashion shoot that target the winter ski market.

Aosta is always worth a visit. there is no shortage of historical and cultural attractions. knowing how to look you can find excellent restaurants. This time we were disappointed by the fact that the Piazza del Comune, the heart of the historic center of the city, was defaced by a gazebo I would say 50 m long for Ani mid-August shows. I understand the desire to entertain tourists, but the possibility of enjoying a coffee in one of Italy's historic squares has been ruined. Why do we continue to favor little shows of dubious taste without safeguarding culture, the real one? If you really wanted to do a mid-August show you could think of a more suitable structure. Hello, how long would it take to walk from the main train station to the Old Town, & a good café for coffee or lunch, eg Piazza Emile Chanoux? I am making a daytrip to Aosta by train in May & don't have much time between trains. I'm a fit walker. Is there a bus from the station to Old Town, to save time? Thanks,

Hello, as there’re were four of us with lots of luggage we got a taxi. Do not remember seeing a bus, however worth googling to check. From my recollection, I think the taxi took about 15-20 minutes and that was only to the outer area as the taxi could not drive in to the pedestrian cobblestone streets. It’s such a lovely place and worthwhile staying a couple of days, if not overnight. Enjoy your travels 😄
