Movies with Kristen Stewart

by andre_te | created - 17 May 2012 | updated - 21 Jun 2022 | Public

This is my personal ranking of movies with Kristen Stewart. For those who know her from Twilight only, take this as a suggestion for all the other good movies with her.

----

I did not include her early appearances in "the thirteenth year" and "the flintstones in viva la rock", cause she was just a background actress you saw for 1-2 seconds.

The best choice to play Joan Jett is definately Kristen Stewart. In my opinion, one of the best performances she ever did.

this movie is about the first all girls punk-/rockband who became icons for female fronted musicians and bands, influenced by david bowie and susie quattro.

It is very difficult to play a disabled person in a movie. I remember Sigourney Weaver in 'Snowcake' who did an amazing job. Kristen plays a disabled girl who falls in love. Again one of her best performances! movie: 8/10 Kristen: 10/10

the movie has a unique atmosphere, created by the same director who made "jackie" with natalie portman. visually interesting with a stunning performance by kristen, but the story itself can be boring except the surprising end.

movie: 7/10 kristen: 10/10

Director: Walter Salles | Stars: Sam Riley, Garrett Hedlund, Kristen Stewart, Amy Adams

Votes: 43,162 | Gross: $0.72M

a much better performance than in snow white. she's not saying much, its more about feelings and emotions... or in other words: sex, drugs and having fun. the story reminds a bit of "into the wild" just without having a goal in life. movie: 7/10 kristen: 9/10

7. Anesthesia (2015)

55 Metascore

Multiple lives intersect in the aftermath of the violent mugging of a Columbia University philosophy professor.

Votes: 5,002 | Gross: $0.02M

kristen plays a supporting role as a depressed student of a university professor (Leadactor), who suffers from self-injury. since twilight people might pigeonhole kristen for looking so sad or grumpy. to be honest, she's a happy and funny person as you can see in all of her interviews. but this movie tended to look for exactly this role, and guess what?... kristen was amazing. even with having the smallest supporting-role she was the reason I got tears in my eye. so real and emotional, she delivered an on-point performance.

movie: 7/10 kristen: 9/10

8. Welcome to the Rileys (2010)

R | 110 min | Drama

50 Metascore

On a business trip to New Orleans, a damaged man seeks salvation by caring for a wayward young woman.

Director: Jake Scott | Stars: James Gandolfini, Kristen Stewart, Melissa Leo, David Jensen

Votes: 25,212 | Gross: $0.15M

Kristen plays a table dancer or stripper which is about to receive help/rescue from a guy who saw her to bring her back to the normal life by treating her like his daughter. solid performance and apparently not an easy role for her, due to the amount of skin shown in a few scenes.

Movie: 7/10 Kristen: 8/10

9. Snow White and the Huntsman (2012)

PG-13 | 127 min | Action, Adventure, Drama

57 Metascore

Director: Rupert Sanders | Stars: Kristen Stewart, Chris Hemsworth, Charlize Theron, Sam Claflin

Votes: 301,255 | Gross: $155.33M

Kristen is playing the role of Snow White very well, even if she's showing not much face expression like most people always complain about her. Ive seen tears and smiles though, you feel with her in every single move. THATS why she's such a good actress. And that's the reason she perfectly fits into this movie. I gave her 8 of 10, because she had a more difficult role to play than in Adventureland.

Movie: 8/10 Kristen: 8/10

10. Crimes of the Future (2022)

R | 107 min | Drama, Horror, Sci-Fi

68 Metascore

Director: David Cronenberg | Stars: Viggo Mortensen, Léa Seydoux, Kristen Stewart, Scott Speedman

Votes: 40,017

Unfortunately, Kristen isnt seen much in this movie, she had just a couple of scenes. But in those her acting was excellent almost at the tip of overacting but it was perfect. If you want to see Kristen's character being attracted to someone and acts enchanting then watch it.

Movie: 7/10 Kristen: 9/10

11. Certain Women (2016)

Director: Kelly Reichardt | Stars: Michelle Williams, Kristen Stewart, Laura Dern, James Le Gros

Votes: 15,323 | Gross: $1.03M

wonderful slow movie by kelly reichardt about the life of three different small town woman. kristen plays a young lawyer, who inadvertently finds herself teaching a twice-weekly adult education class, four hours from her home. movie: 8/10 kristen: 7/10

12. American Ultra (2015)

Director: Nima Nourizadeh | Stars: Jesse Eisenberg, Kristen Stewart, Connie Britton, John Leguizamo

Votes: 95,577 | Gross: $14.43M

I forgot to put this title in the list, so I barely remember kristen's performance in this one, though I gave her a plus in my 2015-movielist. those who know the tv series "chuck", this movie is actually almost exactly like it, just with better actors. to get this straight: jesse and kristen were doing so well as an action couple, they make it all worth watching this flick. cause its just a total b-movie with good leadactors in it.

movie: 6/10 kristen: 8/10

13. Adventureland (2009)

R | 107 min | Comedy, Drama, Romance

Votes: 42,987 | Gross: $1.31M

average/decent movie and same is the acting. nothing spectacular though.

movie: 7/10 kristen: 7/10

15. Clouds of Sils Maria (2014)

R | 124 min | Drama

79 Metascore

A film star comes face-to-face with an uncomfortable reflection of herself while starring in a revival of the play that launched her career.

Director: Olivier Assayas | Stars: Juliette Binoche, Kristen Stewart, Chloë Grace Moretz, Lars Eidinger

Votes: 31,054 | Gross: $1.81M

beside all good critics about lead actress juliette binoche, kristen - in my opinion - stands out in this film and serves with so much symphathy that whatever happened during the film confuses the viewer and the whole story. shes playing a personal assistant of a famous actress and did a very good job. if you're not so much into juliette's performance theres nothing left to lay your eyes on in this movie. too many actors with german accents, cause its based in switzerland and germany so its weird to listen to all those english speaking germans, even that I am german myself. kristen is the comfortable thing to watch in this movie but not that perfect, she makes the movie much better, and even chloe moretz couldnt stand out of her role in this film.

movie: 5/10 kristen: 8/10

Simple story without any tension. Good job by Kristen anyway.

Movie: 5/10 Kristen: 7/10

17. Jeremiah Terminator LeRoy (2018)

R | 108 min | Biography, Drama

55 Metascore

A young woman named Savannah Knoop spends six years pretending to be the celebrated author JT LeRoy, the made-up literary persona of her sister-in-law.

Director: Justin Kelly | Stars: Kristen Stewart, Laura Dern, Jim Sturgess, Diane Kruger

Votes: 2,829

kristen is playing savannah knoop, the embodied persona of a successfull author who didn't want to be connected to the autobiographic novel she wrote. so she invented this avatar played by kristen stewart. the story is interesting at first, but unfortunately put on screen in a boring way. its okay to watch but don't expect anything mindblowing, except the beautiful score+photography combination sometimes. Kristen gives it a bit edge and its good, but to be honest: I don't really like her in this movie, cause she seems to perform just like in twilight, with not much dialog, and the acting supposed to be emotionless... not the best thing to get rid of her curses. but she did alright.

movie: 6/10 kristen: 6/10

18. Twilight (I) (2008)

PG-13 | 122 min | Drama, Fantasy, Romance

56 Metascore

Director: Catherine Hardwicke | Stars: Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Billy Burke, Sarah Clarke

Votes: 485,037 | Gross: $192.77M

Still the best part of all Twilight movies with a little bit of a story in it. Beside the fact that Twilight won't be any good without Robert and Kristen, she's nothing more than playing a teenager in love the whole time. movie: 6/10 Kristen: 6/10

19. The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 (2012)

PG-13 | 115 min | Adventure, Drama, Fantasy

52 Metascore

After the birth of Renesmee/Nessie, the Cullens gather other vampire clans in order to protect the child from a false allegation that puts the family in front of the Volturi.

Director: Bill Condon | Stars: Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, Peter Facinelli

Votes: 261,591 | Gross: $292.30M

finally it all comes to an end, with more suspense, story and not much kissing here and there as its used to be in the former parts. beside the first twilight movie this is definately the most interesting, with an average performance by Kristen.

movie: 6/10 Kristen: 6/10

20. Zathura: A Space Adventure (2005)

PG | 101 min | Action, Adventure, Comedy

67 Metascore

Director: Jon Favreau | Stars: Josh Hutcherson, Jonah Bobo, Dax Shepard, Tim Robbins

Votes: 114,431 | Gross: $29.26M

15 years old Kristen and a 13 years old Josh Hutcherson in a 'Jumanji'-like space adventure. A good one for the younger folks, might be boring for adults. Kristen is playing the old sister of the two kids who are playing 'Zathura'. You can see her in a couple scenes but not that much.

Movie: 6/10 Kristen: 6/10

21. Underwater (2020)

PG-13 | 95 min | Action, Horror, Sci-Fi

48 Metascore

Director: William Eubank | Stars: Kristen Stewart, Vincent Cassel, Mamoudou Athie, T.J. Miller

Votes: 96,151 | Gross: $17.29M

everythings good in this movie, kristen becomes better the further it goes, the audio is hauntingly beautiful, the visuals keep u watching and the art and production design is amazing. the only reasons that drop the rating is the stereotypical cast, the boring writing and a simple story as simple as it can be. Movie: 6/10 Kristen: 7/10

22. The Messengers (2007)

PG-13 | 90 min | Drama, Horror, Mystery

34 Metascore

An ominous darkness invades a seemingly serene sunflower farm in North Dakota, and the Solomon family is torn apart by suspicion, mayhem and murder.

Directors: Danny Pang, Oxide Chun Pang | Stars: Dylan McDermott, Penelope Ann Miller, Kristen Stewart, John Corbett

Votes: 41,095 | Gross: $35.37M

I finally saw this flick and it wasn't that bad. a decent scenery with a decent cast and everything. but it is supposed to be a horror-movie, which it isn't. its more thrilling then scary, and kristen did not shine in her role. she had silly and cheesy dialogs.

movie: 5/10 kristen: 6/10

23. Still Alice (2014)

PG-13 | 101 min | Drama

72 Metascore

A linguistics professor and her family find their bonds tested when she is diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease.

Directors: Richard Glatzer, Wash Westmoreland | Stars: Julianne Moore, Alec Baldwin, Kristen Stewart, Kate Bosworth

Votes: 142,870 | Gross: $18.75M

kristen plays a daughter of a smart columbia university teacher who suffers from alzheimer. this movie doesn't offer anything important for kristen mostly. she just has to play a student without any special characteristics.

from the beginning on she more and more learns to understand what it must feel like, having alzheimer as a mother of 3 children, until she cares for her and understands it clearly with a lovely ending.

Now that I finished watching it, I can understand why the twilight haters are back in place. Actually its very similar what kristen is doing here, you don't see her that much and she couldn't use any of her potential until the end. and that is not enough to shine along with a julianna moore and alec baldwin.

movie: 6/10 kristen: 6/10

24. Undertow (2004)

Director: David Slade | Stars: Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, Xavier Samuel

Votes: 259,456 | Gross: $300.53M

Not much story either. And when it starts getting some action its just as worst as it can be. movie: 5/10 Kristen: 5/10

26. The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 (2011)

PG-13 | 117 min | Adventure, Drama, Fantasy

45 Metascore

Director: Bill Condon | Stars: Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, Gil Birmingham

Votes: 253,120 | Gross: $281.29M

This one had finally something to tell, a story which isn't pretty much for a whole movie but at least there's something. Blame the script, if you think these actors can't act. They weren't able to shine in any scene, but thats the main problem with twilight. Beside that Kristen went through some trouble and a lot of close-up scenes, but it doesn't let you feel with her.

movie: 4/10 kristen: 6/10

27. The Twilight Saga: New Moon (2009)

PG-13 | 130 min | Adventure, Drama, Fantasy
