Kent Gray Buckwalter
1934 - 2012

Beloved father, husband and former resident of American Fork, Kent Gray Buckwalter, passed away on August 24, 2012. Kent was born in Lehi, Utah, but grew up in American Fork where he lived out his youth and eventually graduated from American Fork High School in 1952. Kent served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Western Canada where he performed his missionary work in the provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan from 1955 to 1957. Kent then went on to graduate from Brigham Young University in 1958.

Kent continued his education by attending the University of Oregon Dental School, graduating from this institution in 1962. Kent practiced dentistry in Southern California for over 35 years. In addition to his dental practice, Kent owned and operated a cattle ranch in the Lehi, Utah area. Although Kent spent much of his life living in Southern California, he always felt his heart truly lived in the canyons that surround American Fork. Kent's greatest love was for the great outdoors, and he had a special fondness for the mountains, canyons as well as the natural beauty found in the American Fork area, the love of which he has passed on to his children and their children as well.

Kent is survived by his wife, Gloria M. Buckwalter and his two sisters and two brothers; Merry Binch of American Fork, Utah, Joy Hansen of Paul, Idaho, James B. Buckwalter of Salt Lake City and Steven J. Buckwalter of American Fork. In addition, Kent is survived by his 5 children: Laurie Buckwalter Bedard of Trabuco Canyon, California, Bradley Kent Buckwalter of Seoul, Korea, Michael Todd Buckwalter of American Fork, Jennie Buckwalter Nelson, also of American Fork and Cristina Buckwalter of Colton, California. Kent has 5 living grand children.

Kent was preceded in death by his parents Benjamin W. Buckwalter and Florence Gray Buckwalter in addition to his brother, Lee E. Buckwalter.

Kent Buckwalter's family members will be holding a private gathering in American Fork Canyon on Sept 15, 2012 in order to honor his memory, after which a brief graveside service will be held at American Fork Cemetery at approximately 3:30 pm.
