Sophomore: I liked how there were quite a few clubs and activities for student involvement and home sports events are free for students to attend. The food/cafeteria area are phenomenal. The food is all cooked fresh by culinary students and it's literally 5 star quality. The library is newly renovated and beautiful. It's very welcoming and my fellow classmates spend a ton of time in the library. Academic Advisors are available via online scheduling and are also able to meet via web chat which is super convenient when you're a busy student with limited transportation and off campus living. There's also usually always a student ambassador available for help and assistance as well. I wish that the bookstore was bigger and I wish that the pool was indoor and available in the winter time. I also wish more student activities could be available at the pool. The student gym also needs a ton of work and is very dated and limited. Freshman: I have had an overall good experience at Treasure Valley Community College. I am over half way through my freshman year and I have yet to have a bad experience. All of my professors have done really well at explaining their expectations on the work they give out. The other students who attend have all been really great and I have made some great lasting friendships. One thing I would like to see change is the cost of the needed materials for the classes required to get your degree. Sophomore: Portland Community College is a great choice for people seeking to complete an associates degree, certificate, dual enroll in through certain high schools, or just take classes. I took most of my classes online through their flexible online learning system (D2L), but I also enjoyed getting to go to each campus and seeing what they had - PCC has four locations, so it makes it easier to know which might be the best fit regarding your circumstances. Because of the urban setting, PCC remained as a safe, inclusive environment that I personally appreciated. I think they do a great job at trying to engage with their students, as well as offer resources for students such as the food pantry, women's resources, counselors, etc. Overall, PCC can be very experimental when it comes to academic needs and campus life. Alum: I graduated from RCC in 2018, with an associates in psychology and an associates in business. During my time there, I was the Diversity Coordinator in student government, the President of the Rainbow Club, and I worked in both the student services office and the library. They provide a lot of online classes and all the professors are incredibly understanding and empathetic well the curriculums are fun and creative.
