• Cameron Diaz just gave a very rare interview for InStyle’s 25th anniversary September issue.
  • ICYMI, Cameron Diaz said she retired from acting last year.

“Why have one September cover star when you can have FIFTEEN?” —InStyle magazine, probably.

The fashion magazine rolled out the most jaw-dropping celeb lineup since Michelle Obama’s Late Show dodgeball team in honor of the mag’s 25th anniversary, and among the stars gracing its pages (Reese Witherspoon! Halle Berry! Jennifer Aniston! Kerry Washington!!!), we spotted a not-so-familiar face: Cameron Diaz.

If you grew up watching The Mask on repeat like me, Cameron is silver screen royalty, and she’s been royally absent since she announced her retirement from acting last year. But rest assured she’s still busy AF, although whatever she’s doing is very ~secretive~ (and probably won’t involve performing ☹️).

“The way I look at it is that I’ve given more than half of my life to the public. I feel it’s okay for me to take time for myself now to reorganize and choose how I want to come [back] into the world. If I decide to. I don’t miss performing,” she told InStyle’s Laura Brown. “Right now, I’m looking at the landscape of wellness and all that. But whatever I do, it has to be something I’m passionate about—something that just feels effortless.”

Okay, “the landscape of wellness” is very broad, but it does lend itself to some theories. Could there be a Cameron Diaz lifestyle blog in our future? Or a Goop-like brand, following in the footsteps of her pal Gwyneth Paltrow? Because Cameron’s a gem, she gave one last teeny-tiny hint about what direction she’s going in.

“I like doing my own thing. I like creating, so I’m just looking for the project that makes the most sense for me now,” she said. “I have some things brewing, but it’s a little too early to talk about them.”

Vague, yes. But that’s kind of the point. “It’s fun to just not have anybody know what I’m up to,” she admitted. “Because my time is all mine. I’m not selling any films, and because I’m not selling anything, I don’t have to give anybody anything. I’m not doing this anymore. I’m living my life.”

Wow, we stan a tight-lipped legend.
