Ghanaian defender Benjamin Henrichs set for RB Leipzig contract extension - KickGH.CoM

The 27-year-old stopper of Ghanaian origin is all set to ink a new deal with the German top-flight campaigners, with his current terms set to run out next term

German-born Ghanaian defender Benjamin Henrichs has been offered ''a very, very appreciative offer" over contract extension, according to RB Leipzig sporting director Rouven Schröder.

The former AS Monaco right-back, who is on the radar of English giants Arsenal, will have his current deal with the Red Bull Arena outfit expired in June next year.

However, a link with a move away from the German side continues to be mooted ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window, but his current employers have now put to bed the speculations after agreeing fresh terms with the 27-year-old defender.

Sporting director Rouven Schröder has told kicker of the new deal offered to the Ghanaian stopper as he's yet to put pen to paper on the fresh terms: "We have positioned ourselves clearly and would like to extend both players. Benni knows that we want to continue with him. “He is an important player and very valuable for integration into the team. We have therefore made him a very, very appreciative offer.”

The ex-Bayer Leverkusen youth man has so far featured in 26 league games, scoring once and assisting four for RB Leipzig in the ongoing Bundesliga 23/24 football campaign.

Born to a German father and a Ghanaian mother in Bocholt, Henrichs chose to represent Germany at the international level.
