You cannot buy a web ticket online on Translink before journey (15 pounds) unless you book 72 hours ahead which is so unrealistic and unreasonable especiallyif you are a tourist. So you are forced to buy a standard ticket (30-40 pounds)

However, if you go on Irish Rail website , you can see the ticket for Belfast to Dublin for 15 euro. 30 euro cheaper than the same ticket purchased on Translink!!??But you can't buy it ???!!!

Translink are being con Artists and forcing people to pay overpriced tickets.

The only solution I can think of is to buy a return on the irish rail website to Belfast and cancel the outward Journey but you can't print an online ticket without the lanyard place ticket office. Gonna try this out, this should be fun...

Imagine a main city centre train station without anywhere to buy a newspaper. Couldn't believe my ears when a very dour member of station staff said, "oh.. It's been closed for a long time". The queue for the train reached the front door and the numbers of folk groaning about lack of facilties was embarrassing. What is Brlfast City Council doing? It would appear, nothing!
Oh, and there were many travellers boarding the train who were completely confused about the booking system. It seems you can only book tickets for seats with the Southern Ireland rail company - but not with N. Ireland Railways. Two different train companies operate the same train service! Only in Ireland!

My first experience of Lanyon Place for a few years. Quite dreadful. No facilities open at 8.00 am or when I returned at 5.00pm. No shop, no cafe, nowhere to get anything to eat or even a newspaper. All the vending machines empty. The coffee machine was working and the toilets were open. Be thankful I suppose for small mercies. A soulless dark barren empty shell of a station. Disgraceful. Translink should feel embarrassed by it. By contrast Derry railway station had a nice place where you could get coffee and food and is light and airy.

Arrived for Enterprise train service to Dublin at Lanyon Station. Rebranded name but just the same dismal place. Hand sanitiser dispenser empty in queue. Table at our seat on train swimming with a clear liquid when we sat down. Catering trolly arrived and it was 'out of sandwiches' despite only leaving the station and we were in the first carriage to be served !Train trundled down to Dublin just as it did 20 and more years ago. Arrived 5 minutes late. And guess what it cost two people single-way? £60, yes £60 one-way!

We came to Belfast for the weekend , hard to believe that this was once called Central Station, toilets are in serious need of renovation.
Translink ticketing system doesn't allow you to buy Enterprise Plus tickets from the ticket office.
On the plus side all translink staff were very helpful and friendly.

Had an issue with ticket booking on Irish Rail and explained to staff I didn’t have a printed ticket. They did not care and had to buy a ticket than and there which equated to 77 euro for two of us just one way.

They weren’t at all helpful and so rude to us at the information and ticket desk.

We received dirty looks and a bad attitude from the two women at the desk.

Made to feel stupid for even asking would they be able to do anything.

Not sure what prompted their behaviour, I had to then ask did I have to buy another ticket - they didn’t offer any information.

Belfast Station is very small . We took the train to Dublin. It only took us a little over 2 hours, The train was comfortable and they had a snack cart go through the train a few times

We opted to go first class from Dublin to Belfast. The cost was not very much more than going at the regular fare. We were treated to comfortable seating and our own Stewart who served us complimentary water. We ordered a light breakfast from their on train menu and truly enjoyed our ride through the quaint villages and beautiful countryside of this beautiful country.

We had purchased tickets online before we left the US. We thought we could use the downloaded ticket and QR code. You cannot. You need to go to the ticket counter with your printout and they will give yu different tickets. We had waited in the restaurant while the line formed and snaked thru the terminal before we realized what we needed to do. So get to the terminal a little early, go up to the ticket counter and get your real tickets and then have a point at the bar while you wait for the line to form. However once on the train we had a great experience. We had purchased the upgraded class tickets. it was great. You can order meals and drinks from a menu and be severed in a very comfortable car. In fact the train service is much better in Northern Ireland than in the Republic of Ireland.
