Being in the NDF, he was trained to protect his new brothers and father which is his commandant. Agu’s joining of the rebel group was out of the act to seek revenge upon the rebels who murdered his family, the people of his village, besides Agu seeking revenge he also hopes to find his mother and younger sibling as a result of joining the NDF. The NDF turns Agu into a savage, Agu now taking part in a number of bloody battles and ambushes. In result Agu gains success in killing hundreds of innocent men, women, and children. As the killings of hundreds of people continue Agu reminisces of his mother and of the times when she was there to show him love, care, and support. It is clear Agu joined the NDF as a way for survival, to seek revenge and to hopefully reunite with his mother and younger sibling. On his quest to reunite with his mother, Agu has to make life changing decisions in order to survive through this tough time in his life. As time progressed the NDF, outrageous behavior starts to follow up with consequences. Now they are wanted by UN, and government forces of Africa. In result the NDF, actions now finally face real consequences, that they become ambushed unexpectedly.
