Are we ever going to see WrestleMania outside the U.S.?

Would be cool to see it in London at Wembley Stadium or even Scotland at Hampden Park or Vancouver at BC Place. When is WWE taking WrestleMania internationally?

They’ll do it when an international city puts in a bid bigger than a US city.

Ryiadh cashing in literal money in the bank as we speak.

There's a lot of places they have yet to be in the US as well. I don't think we will see it for awhile, if ever. The time difference for a Wrestlemania overseas is too great.

This is the major problem, with a majority US audience they would be shooting themselves in the foot by having mania outside of the US

u/epderr avatar

With all the extra events they do on the network these days, you'd think they could do some show besides the Raws and Smackdowns twice a year in the UK. Bring back Insurrextion or Rebellion for the UK once a year or something. I mean they do all these Saudi shows, granted they are getting paid a lot by them.

They could do an event or PPV there but I wouldn’t expect a big PPV like a big 4. They do saudí shows because they get paid tons and tons of money to do those shows not just because they want to have an even somewhere else

Do one in the Roman Coliseum

Can I interest you in a slightly used WrestleMania IX?

Maybe in Canada or Mexico. Time zones and shit make anywhere further not very likely.

Sell out Wembley and give Tyler Bate the rumble win and the WWE title.

A man can dream.

There have been two Wrestlemanias in Toronto. Vancouver would be cool, but BC Place isn't great.

Time differences combined with majority of their audience being in the United States, screams the answer is no.

We already have.

Wrestlemania 6 and 18 were in Toronto, so...

When a Canadian city puts in a bid that’s better than all the bids from US cities.

Marvel Stadium in Melbourne, Australia! It’s massive! Australians seem to be crawling all over WWE recently.

I went to the Global Warning Tour back when it was Colonial Stadium, made the mistake of getting floor seats. Couldn't see shit!

Marvel is a horrible stadium to watch anything other than AFL or soccer, as is MCG.

You mean the MCG

[deleted]

Nah, Marvel stadium. It’s more flexible for events, the roof can be opened or closed. It’s designed to be multi functional and better for international visitors to get to via public transport. Plus plenty of accomodation nearby and less hassle for the wrestlers to get to/from hotels and the venue.

MCG is more for summer events, Melbourne’s weather is unpredictable during the times WM is on, so the roof option is perfect for unpredictable rain. Plus it is more superior to the MCG with regards to acoustics, pyrotechnic ability and it’s more designed for what WWE produces. Plus the stadium is also equipped better for stage lighting, camera jigs and other performance related equipment.

MCG, whilst a great stadium - and I’m a very proud born and raised melbourne city lady. It just isn’t for this type of event and the timing of WM. Marvel is just better for the many variables that Melbourne weather has and for stage production.

I used to work as an event manager and I’m a skilled musician. So trust me on the acoustics and stage management side of it all.

You know they would be going MCG for the numbers alone.

Production value and flexibility trumps seats any day especially the logistics of lighting, weather, location and also Marvel Stadium was built for this type of event.

... it’s wwe we are talking about. We’ve all see the hardon they have for announcing attendance numbers and records at wrestlemanias. If the ever hosted one here Id almost guarantee they go with MCG.

Once a rumor starts that AEW or New Japan wants to run a show there you will see WWE all of a sudden take interest

I could see WrestleMania in Toronto, but that's probably as close as you'll get.

u/Bro1999919 avatar

It’s been there twice already.

Yeah I know that, that's why I said it.

Id love to see it in Spain, of all places. But, knowing WWE's situation, wouldnt be surprised if its Saudi Arabia

Would have to be London.

Has more than enough venues, hotels, etc to cope with all the activities and the time difference is manageable for the US as it would be during the day.

A risk is they might not sell out without a larger US audience but I think people will travel if there are decent travel packages available.

Only downside would be the weather being unpredictable but even that’s no riskier than NY last year.

u/char92474 avatar

No. The downside is time zone issues. It couldnt work because of the time zone.

u/tomeasy7 avatar

Not like it would be in the middle of the night for the States? Likely start about 9am for the west coast on a Sunday.

Not the end of the world.

u/char92474 avatar

Yeah, starting it at 9am on the west coast is a huge deal. You think they want to run their biggest event of the year in the morning in the west coast.

Plus, what do you do for Raw the next day? They either need to run their biggest Raw of the year on tape delay in the US or fly everyone home as soon as WM ends so they can film it live in the US. Both are bad ideas.

Or yknow, have it at the O2

u/char92474 avatar

Have what at the 02?

I'm not sure even Canada gets one ever again. It's a stadium show now and you don't want bad weather at stadium shows, so American border states.

Edited

The Rogers Centre has a roof.

Edit: it doesn’t?

As does BC Place in Vancouver and Olympic Stadium in Montreal.

Yeah, but the odds of a WM in one of those two stadiums is slim to none.

[deleted]
[deleted]

Probably, but they are still large covered stadiums. I think they would be better suited for the Royal Rumble though.

u/RBinTX avatar

Why? They’ve had WM in Toronto twice.

It’s a major city, and checks all the boxes WWE looks for in a host city.

“Slim to none” is quite a stretch unless you have inside info.

I wasn’t talking about Toronto. I was talking about BC Place in Vancouver, and Olympic Stadium in Montreal.

I really don't think there's any need.

They don't have any issues selling out huge stadia for Mania, no shortage of interested cities, I can't see them going overseas for the sake of it.

There's the whole timing issue and then the add-on stuff for fans around Mania.

Sure, cities like London are a destination of itself but unless interest in hosting it in the States cooled down I can't see it happening tbh

I dont think you will ever again, the money that it brings in for the host city is too crazy now and I dont think Vince even wants it outside the US even if they did outbid for it.

Toronto or Vancouver are likely. Montreal maybe?

u/char92474 avatar

Never. Doesn’t work with the time zone issues
