Box Score 2 The Snow College Lady Badgers played their first two games at home under new Head Coach Zu Grinsell. Snow dropped their first matchup with Arizona Western 63-38, but [played much better on Saturday in a loss to Seward County 89-70.
"Our emphasis has been to get better everyday," said Grinsell. "We played significantly better on Saturday and we want to have that mindset for the duration of the season. I'm proud of how hard we played and the grit they showed from beginning to end."
The Badgers fell behind early to the Matadors on Friday, but battled back and eventually outscored AWC in the fourth quarter.
Saturday's loss to Seward County was the result of one bad quarter. Again, Snow fell behind early but a great second quarter earned the Badgers a two-point halftime lead. The third quarter was the difference in the loss as Snow was outscored 35-17.
"Our goal is to make it to the National Tournament," said Grinsell. "Our conference is one of the best and I wanted to see the competition of other high level teams around the country to prepare us for that goal.
Ashlee Edwards led the Badgers with eight rebounds in each game. Passion Reitz also had eight rebounds and eight points in the Saturday game while Sarah Lange finished with 11 points. The bench played well for Snow College with Addi Johnson scoring nine points and hauling in five rebounds, Jessica lange added eight points and six rebounds and Liv Harding added six points.
The Badgers will be in Salt Lake City to face Eastern Wyoming and Western Wyoming at SLCC.
