My boyfriend and I went for dinner before prom. This was Tao was the perfect ambience and fantastic food! Our waitress recommended the four course date menu for two and it didn’t disappoint! We will definitely be back again!

The food was great, the service was great, and the environment was interesting. The dishes are served with generous portions, so our server suggested sharing among the two of us. We ordered the salmon, the eggplant, and the Shanghai fried rice, and all were delicious! We had very little left over, which is great since we are in Chi-Town for this week only. We will be visiting again!

Food was about average at best and pretty greasy. Most dishes we had we about as good as local take out Chinese. Will not be back

Great experience at Tao. I’ve been to the one in Los Angeles where I live, so I wanted to re-visit the one in my home city of Chicago to connect with the fellas. Excellent service, food, and ambiance!! The service started with the friendly hosts in the front and continued with our fantastic server. I regret I can’t recall his name. Thank you, all.

Not my best experience at Tao! Water refills had to be requested through the meal. The chicken was chewy and while it was taken off my bill I was still charged for the replacement that came at the end of my meal! It’s one of my go to restaurants and I was disappointed this time

This was my first-time attending Tao Chicago for my birthday dinner with my husband and my daughter. The food was NOT good at all and extremely overpriced. I immediately knew that I did not want the food and advised the waiter and she said that she would grab a manager. We had lobster and shrimp spring rolls and some type of sushi for our appetizers. For entrees, we had some kind of noodles, lobster fried rice, and two orders of filet mignon. The appetizers were eatable; however, all of the entrees were nasty and not eatable. The $62 steak did not taste like steak at all. Not sure what it was but it wasn't steak. The manager named James tried to accommodate by removing ONLY the steak from our bill after throwing all of the food away that was on our table and still expected us to pay for the other two nasty entrees. He had to be absolutely out of mind if he thought we were paying for food that we did not like and also that they threw in the garbage. My daughter, husband and I were still sitting there hungry and unsatisfied. James, the manager dared to get upset because I explained to him that we were not trying to pay for food that they just threw in the garbage. He was very rude after I explained to him that they didn't even give us a choice to keep the food before they threw it in the garbage and still expected us to pay for it. He then said, well we took $118 off the bill. I said to him does it make sense to you to pay for food that you didn't eat and was thrown in the garbage? Only after it was explained to him in that way did he the remaining entrees off the bill. Let's not get into how loud the music is and the fact that you have to scream to your waiter to ask questions and also to the people that you are sitting at the table with! Terrible experience and I won't be back to this overpriced, nasty food, loud music playing restaurant.

I was truly impressed by my first experience at Tao! The service, food, and atmosphere were all exceptional. The spaciousness of the venue was astounding, and they maintained a consistently superior level of service and food quality. I am definitely looking forward to returning!

Went around 9pm on a Thursday. We aren’t tourist, but I wanted to take my 17yo daughter somewhere fun for a girls night. The atmosphere was great but it stopped there. The Shrimp tempura was oily and soggy, the fried rice wasn’t “fried” and with very little description or help from the server, it was very…California. Heavy lemongrass flavor, sun dried tomatoes, peas- not what I had in mind. The chicken gyoza and sauce was the saving grace of our meal. Server was hard to find. If you’re from out of town- fine. If you’re local, there are 100 better places to go.

This was a wonderful dining experience with fresh ingredients, flavorful sushi and entrees. We had a great server named Jailyn and we and our children (ages 13 and 11) thoroughly enjoyed our last meal of Spring break in Chicago at Tao. We highly recommend.
