This beach makes me slightly to moderately jealous of the following people:
People who brought a picnic basket.
People who brought alcohol.
People who brought a soccer ball.
People who brought drugs.*
People who brought a towel.
People with dogs.
People with cute, quiet kids.
People with better cameras than mine to capture the awesome view.
People who since have erased the memory of the naked, old men.**
People who are free enough to eschew all clothes and subsequently, tan lines.
As you can see, I was woefully unprepared for my trip to this beach. But even though all these things could've made my beach excursion that much better, being out here on a nice day is still as good as it gets.
Yes, I know that doesn't make sense.
__________
*Just kidding, Mom.
**Not what I meant by "the awesome view."Helpful 17Thanks 0Love this 40Oh no 0 - Nicole O.Albuquerque, NM82271156Oct 25, 2016
Beautiful views on the GGB. The beach was breathtaking. Tons of families, boogie boarding, fishing, weddings, running and birthday's going on during our visit. Must see location for another view of the bridge and the bay.

Great location for photos of the beach and bridge. It was the end of June but it was cold and breezy. The nudist did not dare to come put...haha.This weather is the strange thing about SF in the summer. Luckily the fog move away while I was there in the afternoon for me to get pictures of the GG Bridge.

Came here for Labor Day(so 2 days ago) but forgot to check in, and I'm too far away now to check in. Anyways, the beach was crowded but not too bad for Labor Day, we had a great time. The weather was gloomy and cool, it was nice to get away from the 100+ degree weather in Sacramento. The couple down falls were parking, it was so hard to find a spot. The other downfall was the port a potty was so gross and so full, you couldn't even use it! So next time we come to Baker Beach, I'll make sure to check the port a potty first.

This beach has a great view of the Golden Gate Bridge. It's also an off-leash dog friendly beach, just make sure to clean up after your dog to keep the beach clean. There are trails to hike on, picnic tables & BBQ's, and beautiful spots to take photos with the bridge in the background.

It's a nice place to come and hang out and have a BBQ here. That's what happend yesterday since the day was pretty nice and warmed up pretty nicely.
There's such a gorgeous view here. The Golden Gate Bridge feels like it's so close but yet so far. I've always heard that this beach had a lot of non clothes people but I didn't see any... Damn, just my luck. I wanted to see naked people! JK.
We were actually at the BBQ area and there were plenty of people/families/friends there BBQing. There were plenty of tables and grills to accommodate people. The area is clean too. They have this guy rolling around in his mustang (garbage pick up truck/car thing) picking up trash and trash bags.
There are plenty of parking right up from the BBQing area or right where the BBQing area is. There are also bathrooms but everyone know beachy/BBQing area bathrooms aren't all that clean.
Nice place to bring you're GF here for a picnic at the beach guys! You get rewarded too with naked ladies if you're lucky!Helpful 13Thanks 0Love this 12Oh no 0 - Hoa Q.Santa Clara, CA634535Sep 27, 2016
The beach is a great place for a walk. It is really long and has a great view of the hills and the Golden Gate Bridge. If you don't want to get sand in your shoes, you can still enjoy it by walking through the fort, which is a scenic walk of its own. The sand is fine and hard to walk on, especially with it blowing into your eyes, but I imagine that it's would probably make for a really nice walk on a more wet day when it's packed down. The beach itself was fairly clean with little debris, although I saw a dead bird behind the roped off areas.
Even in the afternoon it wasn't very crowded, but watch out for the mostly male nudies on the north end, towards the bridge, if you're not comfortable with those types of things.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Jackie C.East Bay, CA5848Jun 6, 2012
I love this beach and recommend it to all of my friends!
The view is gorgeous! There seems to be ample parking with two main lots and more near the road. There are portable bathrooms on the first lot. The second lot has regular bathrooms. I just with they had a place where you could rinse off though, other than the sink. There are trails behind the beach that are beautiful as well!
What I love the most is that it's extremely dog friendly! I let my old girl run around off leash there. There doesn't seem to be very many beaches that allow this anymore. Just please be sure to pick up after your pooch! Everyone seems to follow this rule, from what I can gather of all the times I've been here.
If you go in the morning, you'll run into people that are fishing, which is cool to watch. You'll also be able to walk the entire length of the beach without running into nudists, if you are offended by that.
Most people don't seem to mind the nudists. They pretty much stay at the far end of the beach, closest to the bridge. I really don't mind it either and always trek through to go sit on the rocks to relax and watch the waves crashing in. Plus the nudists are sometimes quite amusing. There is a guy that asks everyone walking by to take a pic of him in front of the bridge as he jumps up and down with his arms above his head and his dingaling flopping about. Yes... I got roped into that one, lol.
Did I mention that this beach is CLEAN? You can feel safe walking around barefoot if you are so inclined. No broken glass or large shards of anything that can hurt your feet.
If you don't drive, you can easily get there by Muni. The 38 Geary takes you there from downtown. You can also bicycle there. Be warned that the parking rack is a little weird but you should still be able to lock up your bike there with a little maneuvering.
For elderly or those with a harder time walking, I recommend parking/going to the second lot with the regular bathrooms. The path down to the sand isn't as steep as the path from the other lot.
I friggin' love this beach. It's soooo worth the trip! :DHelpful 5Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Athena O.Sacramento, CA1231Oct 22, 2019

Baker Beach is at the Presidio, is about a half mile long and is now part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. In 1904, it was fortified with disappearing gun installations known as Battery Chamberlin, which can still be viewed today. From 1986 to 1990, the north end of Baker Beach was the original site of the Burning Man art festival. Subsequent Burning Man events have taken place in Black Rock Desert, Nevada.
I've been to Baker Beach several times, and always with all my clothes on. The optional folks are usually at one end, but since this is San Francisco it really doesn't matter either way as nothing really surprises me anymore. And what an opportunity is is to see the Golden Gate Bridge and the Marin Headlands from this ocean-side angle. If I ever get tired of seeing scenery like this.....Helpful 8Thanks 0Love this 8Oh no 0
