Bachelor of Science in Information

The Bachelor of Science in Information is an upper-level undergraduate degree; you’ll complete it in your junior and senior years at U-M. This richly interdisciplinary program is not just about tech and coding or just about people and how they tick. BSI graduates leave the program understanding both how to create data and technology and how to make them work for real people, skills hotly in demand in today’s job market. Our students earn jobs at the best companies and organizations in the country, with 97% of graduates working in their field of choice and an average starting salary of $88,000. These jobs are fun, too — 96% of our graduates also report high job satisfaction.

The courses you’ll take in the BSI program are among the best in the country, featuring expert faculty who conduct current, high-level research in the field — many with the help of undergraduates. UMSI was the first iSchool in the world to offer this integrated degree. As a BSI student, you’ll choose from one of two paths: Information Analysis and User Experience Design (UX). For more on those, see our curriculum page.

For more about the kinds of jobs you’ll be qualified to do, see our career outcomes page
