What You'll Do

We are looking for a full-time remote Cost Accounting Professional who interprets and consistently applies Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) and CNS cost accounting practices and financial policies to ensure appropriate cost collection. Interprets the CNS CAS Disclosure Statement, CNS financial policies, and gathers all pertinent information to make informed charging decisions. Analyzes unique or complex financial issues and develops recommendations for solutions in alignment with CAS and CNS business practices. Ensures timely and effective communication and coordination within the Finance and Business Operations (F&BO) organization of all financial policy interpretations. Prepare comprehensive written analysis and interpretation of complex financial issues, including analysis of policy, guidelines and regulations to support proposed cost accounting changes. Communicates complex financial issues and solutions with CNS senior management and National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). Anticipates and prepares for the potential impact of recommendations and financial decisions on the CNS enterprise. Impact of actions and/or decisions could significantly affect the success of the CNS Enterprise. Monitors implementation of financial policies and prepares status reports and presentations as needed. Understands Financial Controls’ role as it relates to other areas of F&BO and the CNS enterprise and engages with stakeholders to resolve financial issues and questions.

Coordinates F&BO deliverables for management representations and subsequent event reporting related to CNS fiscal year-end financial reports. Coordinates the identification of areas in F&BO where a management assessment is needed, ensure the assignment of a lead to perform the management assessment, and report on the progress. Identify areas for continuous improvement of processes and policies. Performs annual internal control testing. Communicates effectively with all levels across the CNS enterprise.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, finance or a related field and a minimum of 5 years of relevant progressive experience or a Master's degree with 3 years of relevant progressive experience.
  • Must have demonstrated experience in CAS interpretation and application.
  • Experience delivering financial briefings, documentation, reports and financial advice to Senior Management, personnel and other external organizations.
  • Self-motivated and performs independent problem solving and analysis which requires application of critical thinking skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to adapt to frequently changing requirements and priorities.
  • Evaluates and prioritizes assignments effectively to meet multiple deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or a related field and a minimum of fifteen years of relevant progressive experience or a Master’s degree with a minimum of ten years of relevant experience.
  • Extensive experience applying expert analytical skills to research, interpret, analyze, compile and present complex financial data and information.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and expertise performing financial functions, including the use of Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.

Position may require entry into Materials Access Areas (MAA) and participation in the Human Reliability Program (HRP). If HRP is required, candidate must complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph, pursuant to 10CFR 709. Medical requirements may apply.
