We had the best time at Avra last night, our waitress made the dinner perfect! Khrystsina G (our waitress) was so friendly and gracious she deserves a call out. Her smile and attention to our needs was one of a kind and we learned she is also a part-time teacher, which made her such a rockstar even more.
We hope that Avra recognizes her service and how great she does her job!
Many thanks again! we will be back.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 1, 2024
Prior to a Broadway show we had a late lunch, they serve lunch up to 4:30. Three course meal Prix Fixed lunch for $36.50. We started with a Greek salad, big enough to share, and a grilled sliced calamari. Both were a great start. For mains I had a grilled Bronzino served whole, butterflied and deboned with Horta, sautéed greens similar to broccoli rabe. We also had a Swordfish skewer plate, perfectly prepared. Baklava was recommended for dessert, very good but will try the orange cake next time.
Wines by the glass start at $15.
Highly recommend and will return. They have two other locations in Manhattan as well as Beverly Hills and Miami Beach.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - May 9, 2024
Had lunch with a group of friends here today. I basically ordered from the Pre-fixe menu plus a cup of espresso to go with my dessert.
The place is big and beautiful!
I had the Dorade but others had the branzino.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Judi d.Brooklyn, NY22361Mar 19, 2024
Beautiful restaurant.
Ordered from lunch menu and my friend and I had the filet mignon ( $28 extra). It was soooo salty we had to scrape the top to get some of the salt off. There were 3 tiny string beans that accompanied the meat. Lol
Dessert was fresh fruit for me ( blah) and my friend had the cheese cake. If the piece was any smaller it would have disappeared.
I DID hear their hamburgers are delicious.
Should have gone for that and bill would have been more to our liking.
I had heard such wonderful things about the restaurantHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 2345414477Mar 6, 2024
TLDR: I've been eating at the original Avra on the Eastside for awhile but it's nice to have a location near Rockefeller. For lunch - probably one of the best power lunch deals you can find. Grilled calamari, lavraki, baklava. Best combination.
I don't know if I'd call a $37 prefixe a "deal" really but in this area - it kind of is. Sure, there's some really crazy good (and expensive) stuff to be had on the a la carte menu but the non-supplement prefixe is great.
They have their own olive oil which along with their complimentary dip is great. The new flatbread is a bit hard on the teeth and I prefer the bread they used to serve.
Grilled calamari. So simple but when the produce is so fresh, you don't need no crazy sauce. Just simple salt, pepper, grilled flavor. Perfectly tender.
Lavraki. White flaky fish, already filleted, guilt-free goodness. Comes with a side of sautéed swiss chard and some lemon.
Baklava. Very tasty.
I have eaten here a la carte and there is some really good stuff but it can get pricey. This is a great place for a business dinner or if you're just visiting NYC and want to dine like a power broker.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - 554150May 14, 2024
This restaurant is simply beautiful. We went here for my mom's 60th birthday dinner and it never disappoints. With 2 floors and a spacious layout, it offers a really great dining experience. I highly recommend trying the Avra chips, accompanied with tzatziki--it's a combination of fried zucchini and eggplant. Despite the smaller portion, the Hawaiian big eye tuna was very flavorful. The service and ambiance were top-notch, making it a consistently enjoyable dining destination.

The service was outstanding and prompted. Except I asked for NYC water but received their Greek water at $10 a bottle. I came here with my family to celebrate a birthday. The food is always outstanding here. I never had a mediocre meal. It's always been very delicious and consistent. The ambiance at this newer restaurant is amazing.

Second time here and similar feeling but the service was much better this time vs. the zero star service last time. The food remains very, very good in a really cool ambiance which you pay for and then some (over priced even for midtown). On to the food. It's really, really good but not extraordinary. The hummus is amazing, same with the pita. The carpaccio was phenomenal. The pasta I got (pictured) was very good not great., it needed a bit more punch of flavor. They give you a great bread treat to start which deserves credit for being very good. I'll be back most likely.
Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Dec 28, 2022Previous reviewWe had a bad experience. This is the first time I've been to this location and our service was just awful. Our server just ignored us for most of the meal. The restaurant is beautiful and ambiance overall is amazing but you absolutely pay for it with very high prices which I could live with if the food and service matched. The food was very good which has been my experience at the other locations too, although I wouldn't call it amazing or special on this night. Salmon was good, same with the sea bass (note good not great). Truffle fries were good not great, hummus was good but nothing special and I'd prefer warm soft pitas with that vs. pita chips. So I wouldn't recommend this spot and I'm quite disappointed to report that.

Incredible decor, great location but average food. The restaurant is beautifully built out and the second floor is a marvel. The menu is Greek fare but they serve standard dishes if you're familiar.
The food here was uneven. The avra chips (eggplant, zuchini) were excellent - light, crispy and a perfect foil for their tzatziki sauce. The main dishes were a bit disappointing. The shrimp was small and out of the shell so they were bland. The swordfish was terribly bland and unseasoned and the potato salad was really just tomatoes mixed with boiled potatoes. Not great.
Desserts were far better with the chocolate cake and galaktoboureko being the highlights. Prices are high but commensurate with midtown dining. Service was uneven - incredibly friendly but absent minded. Our server repeatedly forgot to bring us more hummus despite us asking multiple times and when it finally came, they sent it to another table. My wife was beyond annoyed. Decent meal but I'd probably rather stick to tavernas in Queens.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Feb 19, 2024
Love the location here! Especially you have out of town guest!
Both outdoor and indoor are pretty busy even on a weekday. We were able to walk in during dinner time if we were willing to seat outdoor.
Overall food are pretty good but little bit too oily on their Avra Chips, But if calories is not your concerned, they are yummy!
Even it's a tourist area, but you see mostly people from office buildings around here. Will not jammed into too much tourists.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
