Welcome to the Avian & Exotic Animal Clinic of AZ!

EXPERIENCE NEEDED!

We are excited to announce that we are hiring for three different positions at Avian & Exotic Animal Clinic of AZ! Each position has its own set of pre-requisites so please be sure to read them carefully BEFORE submitting an application.

We are the first and oldest exotic pet exclusive practice in Arizona. We pride ourselves on providing our staff with a family oriented environment in a fun yet professional setting. Education is very important to us. We strive to experience the world through the eyes of our patients, so that we can educate their stewards to make positive changes toward compassionate care. We are hoping to add a few more team members to our family who understand this vision and want to be a part of the great work that we are doing.

ALL application submissions must include a resume, a cover letter, and a minimum of three references. Cover letters should let us know which position you are applying for and why, include your short term and long term goals, and also include any additional information about your exotics experience and passions that are not already evident on your resume.

  1.  Requirements for a position as a Veterinary Technician:
    1. This is NOT an entry level position and we are NOT accepting applications for Veterinary Assistants or Kennel Technicians.
    2. We are looking for a Veterinary Technician who already has exotics medicine and surgery experience.
    3. The ideal candidate should also have experience in radiology including digital x ray, CT scan, flouroscopy, and ultrasound.
    4. Preferred 2 + years of experience as a Veterinary Technician in a predominantly exotics practice. Willing to accept applicants with limited exotics experience if it is supplemented with 5 + years as a Veterinary Technician in a high volume clinic/hospital AND also possess a strong passion for exotics.
    5. Preferred high level of computer knowledge including proficiency with Microsoft Office as well as experience working with database management software, particularly AVImark.
    6. Being a “fast learner” is not an acceptable replacement for the work experience required for this position.
  2. Requirements for a position in Client Services:
    1. This is also NOT an entry level position and we are NOT accepting applications from new high school graduates with limited work experience.
    2. We are looking for a Veterinary Receptionist with experience in general exotic animal knowledge and client communication. Willing to accept applicants with limited exotics knowledge if it is supplemented with 3 + years as a veterinary receptionist in a high volume hospital.
    3.  High level of computer knowledge including proficiency with Microsoft Office as well as experience working with database management software.
    4. Proven ability to multitask in a fast paced environment while maintaining superior follow-through and great attention to detail.
    5. Advanced customer service skills required, which includes the capability to adapt with situational understanding.
    6. Exotics animal experience preferred but may be replaced with a strong passion for exotics and a desire to learn more about them.
  3. Requirements for a position in Animal Care:
    1. This is also NOT an entry level position and we are NOT accepting applications from new high school graduates with limited work experience.
    2. We are looking for an Animal Care Assistant with experience in exotic animal husbandry, diet, and welfare, along with experience in facility maintenance.
    3. The ideal candidate should have experience caring for avian and exotic animals, or general knowledge of basic requirements for birds, reptiles, and small mammals.
    4. Strong organizational skills, including experience with inventory, stocking supplies, and maintaining detailed records. Also must be able to work independently and must possess strong time management skills.
    5. Exotic animal experience preferred but may be replaced with other animal handling experience, in addition to a strong desire to learn more about exotics.

If you have met the above requirements, please email your completed application to Sandi at officemanager@aeacarizona.com. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Thank You!!

COVID-19 Update: July 2, 2021:

  • At this time, our entire staff has been fully vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus.
  • Masks are still required for all unvaccinated adults, and for all children under the age of twelve (12).
  • Masks will now only be optional for all adults that are fully vaccinated.
  • While we are moving away from the strict policy of one person per appointment, it is still important to not overcrowd our exam rooms so, we ask you to be mindful of that and try to limit the number of family members that you bring with you to your appointment.
  • If you are not yet comfortable with entering our building, you have the option to request continued curb-side assistance until you feel more comfortable with the data and trends of this virus.
  • As before, if you are showing any symptoms of COVID-19, or have had recent exposure, you will be asked to reschedule your appointment. COVID-19 not only endangers human health but may also expose and kill the very susceptible ferret patients that we treat.

THANK YOU!

COVID-19 Update: Effective April, 5, 2021:

Dear valued pet owners of the Avian and Exotic Animal Clinic of Arizona:

This last year has presented numerous challenges for all people across our beloved planet. Here at the AEAC, it has been no different. We have truly missed you; our energy levels have diminished because we cannot engage, communicate and interact with you in the ways that satisfy the “Why” of why we practice exotic animal medicine. We appreciate your trust in caring for your pets during this pandemic. You have been amazing. Please know we have always strived to navigate our way through this pandemic thoughtfully while considering the viewpoints and concerns of our diverse client base.

With that said, beginning Monday April 5th we will move to the next phase of our COVID Protocols, which will include the following guidelines:

  • We will require that all clients and staff inside our building wear masks. Please keep your mask on at all times inside the building, including while waiting in exam rooms.
  • Curbside Check-Ins will remain in place: We request that you call from your vehicle to let us know that you have arrived for your appointment.
  • Once we are ready to begin your appointment, you will be called back by a member of our staff who will meet you at the entrance to be escorted into an exam room.
  • For now, the lobby will remain closed due to the inability to socially distance with each other. So at this time, you will only be brought inside the building when we are ready to begin your appointment.
  • Each appointment may be brought inside by one person/family member. Additional guests and family members will be asked to wait outside to minimize potential exposure and sources of transmission, as well as not overcrowding our exam rooms.
  • If you are showing any symptoms of COVID-19, or have had recent exposure, you will be asked to reschedule your appointment. COVID-19 not only endangers human health but may also expose and kill the very susceptible ferret patients that we treat.
  • If you are not yet comfortable with entering our building, you have the option to request continued curb-side assistance until you feel more comfortable with the data and trends of this virus.

As many of you are aware, the Governor's announcement regarding masks last week has presented an opportunity for businesses like ours to reevaluate our mask-wearing policy. We also know that case numbers usually lag after restrictions ease so this will require reassessing with the hopefully declining numbers of COVID positives. In an effort to allow more of the vulnerable population to become vaccinated, but at the same time give others a light at the end of the tunnel, we wanted to inform you that we will continue to reassess these protocols as we carefully watch the COVID positive case numbers in our state. It is our hope that by maintaining consistent protocols, we will all be able to be mask-free in the very near future.

This is a complex and divisive issue, and we are striving to find a balanced approach as we move forward. We know that no one answer will please everyone.  We are thanking you in advance for respecting the sovereignty of our path forward and out of this pandemic.  Should you feel the need to voice your scientific opinion, please direct it at me, Todd Driggers at info@aeacarizona.com, as debates with the staff will only delay the competent care we wish to provide your pets, and other clinic patrons’ pets.  We have lost several clients which we consider part of our AEAC family and we want you to know; we see you and share in your grief.  Thank you for helping us work through the means to the end of this unpredictable disease.

Thank you all for your support during this time. We would not be here if it were not for our caring pet owners and their wonderful pets.

Sincerely,

The Staff of the Avian and Exotic Animal Clinic of Arizona

March 22, 2021:

♥♥♥ RHDV2 Vaccines are here!! ♥♥♥

As promised, we were able to get the new shipment of RHDV2 vaccines in time for your Annual Booster, and at half the price! The RHDV2 Vaccine is now available for first vaccines as well as annual boosters. Since the State requires all vaccinated rabbits to have permanent identification, we are now also able to offer a Vaccine/Microchip Combo Special! (Existing ID, such as ear tattoos and microchips, are accepted.)

You can add the vaccine to your already scheduled appointment, or you can schedule a new appointment. If you received your first vaccine here in AZ then you have time - you are likely not due for your annual until this coming Summer.

If you are new though, please plan ahead! Appointments are currently booking approximately 2-3 weeks out so feel free to use our APP to request an appointment or contact us via email as well. Email us at info@aeacarizona.com for any additional questions about appointments and pricing. Thank You!
