Astorga Cathedral is the main religious building in Astorga, a town in Castilla y León Region, in the North of Spain. It was built between 15 and 18th Century in a curious mix between Gothic, Baroque and Renaissance-style. The result is a very nice building, which is located close to the Astorga Palace built by Gaudí. It has a red facade and two bell towers. Pitifully, we does not have enough time and we could not enter. Next time. Very beautiful.

Astorga was an important Roman settlement, and this Museum explores this very imaginatively. Displays and exhibits illustrate and explain the development of the settlement and the lifestyle of its inhabitants - an imaginative video links exhibits to way of life, and makes that important link between object and human being! The member of staff was keen to help us, and we were, incidentally, very impressed with the school group that were visiting at the same time as us. A glimpse into the ‘artefact room’ gives an inkling of the scale of Roman settlement here. By Museum standards this probably rates as small, but it is well worth a visit of an hour or two.

Ayuntamiento de Astorga is the Town Hall of the town and it is located in the main square, in the old town of this city, in Leon Region, in the North of Spain. It was built at the end of 17th Century in a Castilian Baroque style in this arcaded square. Really it is a very nice building, which you can see in front of the entrance of the main square, if you come from Cathedral. Very interesting and nice place.

Plaza Mayor de Astorga is the main square of the town, located in Leon Region, in the North of Spain. It is a very nice square, where you can see the impressive town hall. If you come from the cathedral, you will see the town hall in front of you, when you enter in the square. Also, here there are some bars and restaurants and it is the typical place on local people meet each other. Very nice.

Stopped on our way into town from the Camino. Museum is small - takes about an hour - but it was interesting to see the chocolate presses and the equipment used. The video we watched did not have English subtitles as another review suggested. All of the displays are in Spanish. They did give us some English cards to carry along that provided highlights for each of the rooms. They gave us three chocolate squares to taste at the end which was nice, and they have good chocolate options to purchase. The small children we saw were bored/squirming/crying so don’t think it’s something toddlers would enjoy.

The ancient Roman walls surround the old city of Astorga and imbue it with an ancient charm. It is possible to walk on the walls in some sections.

Palacio Gaudí - Museo de los Caminos is located in the center of Astorga, close to the Cathedral. It is an impressive building built by Gaudí (and other architects) at the beginning of the 20th Century in a neoghotic modernism style. Really amazing. Inside, you can see some of the rooms and a little Chapelle. Also, you can see a little museum with some figures and explanations about the pathways of Camino de Santiago, which is ok. I recommend visit the building due to the architectural style, not for the museum.

A little stop in Astorga to visit the Church on Camino Santiago is a marvelous experience towards Ponteferrada and Lalin. Really appreciated the stop and milestone even if the church was smaller than Leon and Burgos.
