Disciplinary Graphic - Facebook

France number 3, Assia Khalfaoui, today appeared before an independent Disciplinary Committee via video link having received a red card for an act of foul play contrary to Law 9.20 (b) in the match between France and England on Saturday 27th April 2024.

The independent Disciplinary Committee was chaired by Owain Rhys James (Wales), joined by former international referee Valeriu Toma (Romania) and former international player Bogdan Zebega (Romania).

Having accepted that the act of foul play justified the red card and by applying World Rugby’s sanctioning provisions, the Disciplinary Committee determined that the mid-range entry point of four weeks was appropriate with the full 50% mitigation applied, based on previous record, exemplary conduct and having shown immediate remorse, reducing the sanction to two weeks.

The suspension will cover the following matches;

12th May 2024 – Stade Bordelais v Stade Villeneuvois Lille Métropole, Elite 1 Féminine

19th May 2024 – Stade Bordelais v TBC, Quarter Final, Elite 1 Féminine Play-offs *

* The player has additionally been given permission to apply to take part in World Rugby’s Coaching Intervention Programme to substitute the final match of their sanction which is aimed at modifying specific techniques and technical issues that contributed to the foul play. Further information can be found here

The player was reminded of her right of appeal.
