The Biltmore is a huge estate outside downtown Asheville. The house and gardens were very elaborate and impressive. They also had a special exhibit (Chihuly) while we were there - excellent.
But the crowds were very large even on a weekday - with long lines as a result.

I arrived shortly after the gardens opened the first sign that is was to be a good day was the women taking the parkway fee mention reciprocating gardens. My wife and I have a membership for Denver Botanical Gardens but my wife had the membership card at home. The attendant said she was going in a few weeks.

The entry way to the walkways were overflowing with blooms for their Annual “Blooms with a View” . There are more than enough benches and a few rockers to be found to take a moment to rest and meditate upon the beauty and serenity of formal gardens and woodland pathways which seemed to be endless. For a person of my age (73) it was a treasure to behold and see many new things I have not seen in the many gardens my wife to seen around the world over the years.

We stopped here on the way to our Blue ridge Mountain Tour. The artist work is so beautiful. They even had demonstrations of pottery making - really interesting to watch. There are very diverse pieces by multiple artists. Wood, pottery, glass, carvings, hats, books, etc. I have spent hours looking at everything. I took home some beautiful pieces as memories of our trip.

Great experience and brought back a lot of childhood memories. LOTS of pinball machines and old time video games from a bygone era.

Had the distinct pleasure of attending Mass here on 4/27/24 and felt most welcome. The tour provided afterwards was very professional and fascinating. A husband and wife couple provided excellent information about the church and its builders. They truly brought history to life and successfully shared their love for design, architecture, and their parish. Thanks so much!

What a lovely spot! Grovewood Village was our first stop after arriving in Asheville. What we liked is the more intimate experience of the larger next door Grove Park Inn hotel.
Tom, the antique car docent, is hands down the nicest person to guide you through not only the car museum but help with any questions you have about Biltmore Industries. For families, there is a fun exhibit outside of whimsical animals as well as what looks like a fun small restaurant, elders (I think was the name). Compared to some of the other busier more congested spots in Asheville this a wonderful gem of a retreat.

My family and I come to the Nature Center often. We have had the most luck seeing the most animals early in the morning or on cool days. When it is hot or late in the day they all seem to be sleeping and are sometimes hard to see during that time. We always start with the Otters and circle back to them. If they aren’t swimming or visible during our first stop we always see them on the 2nd stop. In all of our trips we have never seen every animal in one trip. They have lots of good places to hide to sleep. In addition to the animals there are lots of play areas to break up the time and picnic tables for a lunch or snacks.

We took the tour of the Thomas Wolfe home at about 10:30 am on a Wednesday. There is limited free parking at the house. The tour guide was excellent and the inexpensive tour was quite informative. The original furniture was spectacular for a 1900s boarding house. The exhibit which included many original family possessions was also very informative. The biographical film was truly excellent. One obtained an exceptionally good description of Thomas Wolfe's life and literary career. We highly recommend this marvelous experience to all. We spent about 2 hours for the tour and exhibits.

We all liked New Belgium and they had a huge variety of beers at the best prices in town. It's a factory for beer with a large indoor space and a beautiful outside area overlooking the river. We love the breweries in Asheville and this one has the best scenic view. Most days the outside heaters were off. Lots of food trucks but we came here every week for beer as it was only five minutes from our rental.
