  • 1945: Preschool, PTA, and South Mercer Island Community Club open the first Mercer Island Library in the Emmanuel Episcopal Church's Guild Hall; KCLS provides books
  • 1955: New, 1,200-square-foot library opens on the corner of 88th and 44th Avenue SE
  • 1962: 1,920-square-foot addition is completed; City contracts with KCLS for library service
  • 1969: 5,422-square-foot expansion is completed
  • 1991: Opening of new, 14,600-square-foot library
  • 1993: KCLS annexation
