I started skiing a couple years ago. The ski lessons at Arapahoe Basin are very reasonable and the instructors are very experienced. I’ve been going up to practice almost every Friday. They have great runs and when it’s time for lunch, they also have great food.
The drive from Lakewood is only an hour. I love it.
It’s a great place to take family from out of town. No one else beats their multiple pass prices.
I meet people from all over the US on the lifts. They love everything about Arapahoe Basin.

Absolutely DISGUSTING customer service. I cannot express how rude and terribly disrespectful their customer service team was, more specifically Carla Marie. I was given a friends and family discount ticket from my friend so I could attend her birthday. This coupon gave me a 40% discount.
However upon redeeming it, their website wasn't working properly and was only allowing me to redeem 25%. I called the next day to let them know this was the case and by then all tickets for that day had been sold out. They recognized that their website wasn't functioning properly and the best they could do was to put me on a waitlist.
I get a call from Carla Marie to let me know that two spots became available. Her tone was very aggressive before I even spoke a word. She says I only get it at 25% off. Which is contrary to everything I was told by two representatives prior, from both A-Basin and Ikon. She's extremely short, threatens that I make a decision immediately or she will call the next person in the waitlist to sell it to them, mind you this is 1.5 minutes into the conversation. She begins to raise her voice at me, I get defensive because I tell her this wasn't what I was told. She puts me on hold several times saying she's going to call the next person in line for the ticket only to come back and give me even more sass (which I'm pretty sure she wasn't calling anyone, else those tickets would be been sold by the time she got back).
She won't pass the phone to her manager, who I had spoken to earlier and put me on the waitlist. She claimed that I "yelled at 3 other colleagues" and that she "won't subject them to this!" When in fact she came at me guns blazing before I spoke a word. I didn't yell at anyone, and I only spoke to two colleagues prior where I explained my situation. It was a regular complaint of the website not working and asking for alternatives.
I have NEVER had such awful customer service in my life, and I'm not one to exaggerate. I literally mean never. Not Even Close. What an awful awful person. I hope no one has to deal with her again.

My daughters and I spent a wonderful sunny day at A-basin. We are two skiers and one snowboarder and the runs were great for all of us. We especially liked our namesake run “Jaeger!!” We highly recommend the Beavers are for more advances skiers/boarders. Nice grommets that lead to some awesome tree runs with fun powder.

I would like to compliment the resort on refunding lift ticket and lesson charges promptly and efficiently. We are dealing with at least five agencies due to travel cancellations, and no other agency has made any effort to contact us. We truly appreciate your customer services.

Amazing place to hike in the summer. Chair lift takes you up to the hut (15 USD) and from there you can hike around in any direction. I hiked up to the top chair lift, then took on the left side peaks with many mountain goats, marmots and pikas. Beautiful views. On another day I hiked the right side mountain backs and peaks, all the way to another chair lift and from there down through trees and meadows back to the parking lot. Peaceful place to hike!

Decided to visit this mountain since it was part of the ikon pass. Took the snowstang bus from Denver union station to get here. The mountain has a good variety of terrain of course looking at the steep double black mogul run only saw a couple of skiers doing it.
On the lower part of the mountain there were plenty of short green/blue runs that were groomed. Taking the lifts further back opened up longer blue runs.
The oddball thing about this resort was the scanner read your pass on the left side of your body so I had to do some contortions the first time going thu the gate

I've been coming here for decades. Opening the back bowl was huge in accommodating the crowds, and now the Beavers terrain have taken the ski area to a whole new level. Considering the steepness & length, the slower fix-grip chair out is a welcome respid.
The shuttle back to the parking lot was more than welcome, my legs were toasted!

Took a group to experience the ropes course and have lunch. The ropes course had something for everybody! It start gradual and increases in difficulty. It was a great value for 2 hours of fun and adventure.
I will say the Bloody Mary’s there are the best!

Had an excellent time! Bluebird day, warm, very little wind, well groomed runs. Here is the big thing for me. Employees were fine and friendly (with my limited exposure), but the overall vibe throughout A base was excellent. This is a reflection on the staff as a whole. I’m a solid intermediate skier but because of such a warm winter at home, I had to travel to ski. I will say many of the blues were over my head. I think the altitude contributed. I hit front side, zuma, beavers and pallio. Not a great place for beginners imo. Confident intermediate to seasoned pro will love it!

I enjoyed my first time truly alpine skiing but please be aware that the terrain is not beginner friendly. There was a significant jump between the bunny slope and the green. That being said I enjoyed the challenge and had a good time after I got comfortable with the slope.

One more question: is there a shuttle that will take us from Keystone to Arapahoe? Thanks.

The Swan Mountain Flyer goes between Arapahoe Basin and Keystone Resort. You can find the schedule on the Summit Stage web site.

Family (myself, wife and 3 year old son) of first time skiers visiting in February here! Would this ski area be recommended for us newbies? Also, are there any other activities in the area for a toddler in case he can’t ski? And lastly, I’ve noticed skiing is quite costly, is Arapahoe one of the most affordable? Thanks!

Arapahoe Basin has a learning area that new skiers can use to develop their skills. Kids as young as 3 years old can sign up for lessons. A full day lesson (including lunch & a lift ticket) is $175. This does not include ski equipment rentals. For adults, the price is $149 for a half day. Or for $630 you can get a full day family private lesson (if using this option, you will need to purchase lift tickets, but you get a 50% discount).
Keystone also offers lessons for kids as young as 3. Their one day price is $221 and that includes ski rentals, lift ticket, and a meal. Keystone does have some other child friendly areas, such as a small play area in the River Run town center as well as little games scattered throughout the space. A single adult lift ticket purchased online is around $120.

Are there lodging accommodations here?

The closest lodging is in Keystone. It's very expensive to stay in the condos there. But they're very comfortable.
The most affordable housing is in nearby Dillon, Silverthorne, and a little farther away in Frisco. There are many condos for lease.
In Dillon, we frequently stay at the Best Western, which is located next to lake Dillon reservoir. It has ski lockers by the main entrances.
In Silverthorne, the least expensive is Luxury Inn. It has an indoor heated pool and is located next to I-70.

My wife and I have never skied before (we are from Louisiana and it doesn't snow here). We have booked and paid for lessons at A-basin. Are they well taught for beginners? Also, any other recommendations for newcomers as far as clothing also lol?

Coming from a lower elevation like Louisiana, you could experience some elevation sickness. A night or two in Denver would reduce that problem. You will also need to drink a lot more water to stay hydrated. That will help you avoid headaches and weakness.
As a beginner, you will likely take a few falls. Water resistant gloves and outer layer of clothes are important. I would wear several layers of clothes to stay warm. Abasin is one of the higher elevation ski resorts, so it will be even colder than other resorts.
I've been told most ski accidents occur during the last hour, when people are worn out. So don't over do it. Take breaks in the lodges.
I didn't take ski lessons there, so I can't answer that part of your question.

I need some assistance! I'm from Texas, heading that way in Feb for our elopement. Our plan is to get married some place amazing with mountains in the background (the closer, the better!). We wouldn't even mind a lake too. We have about 5 people that might be with us, one in her '90's so prefer a very short walk. We are prepared for cold, snow, sun... whatever. We want to save our money for our reception when we go back home. Does anyone have any ideas of a nice place in the outdoors, easily accessible to say our vows? If the 90 something doesn't go, we are considering at top of a ski resort. Is that possible without too many people or getting charged? We wouldn't mind anywhere within 2-3 hours of Denver. Any advice would be appreciated! Thank you!

There is a lake at the base of Keystone mountain where I go play in a pond hockey tournament every January. It's absolutely beautiful there. There are many condo units all around the lake, so a very short walk. I am not sure about setting up a wedding, so I would recommend you just call to talk to somebody about that. Good luck!

We are planning a family ski trip and class to Arapahoe Basin. Is there a place to eat at the location? We plan on taking the class in the morning and skiing the rest of the afternoon so we don't want to have to leave and return.

There is a cafeteria at the base and another one in the mid-mountain lodge which has some special entrees for lunch.

Hi - Thanks for that great review! We're planning to go tonight or tom'w for 3 or 4 days ...
We're hoping that there'll still be have enough snow - and that there'll be enough enjoyable terrain for my girlfriend, who is transitioning from beginner to intermediate and has just started getting comfortable on Vail's blues, etc...
So ... I'm wondering whether you were there very recently, and, if so, whether there's still enough decent snow - and suitable terrain/trails...
Any thoughts???
You can email me here or at CZimmerman at Google's email service.
Thanks so much!

No, there isn't any lodging at the resort. If you stay in Summit County you can take a free shuttle to the base area. Keystone Resort is your closest bet.

I am planning on snowboarding at Arapahoe Basin for 3 days in March. A friend who lives in the area recommended I stay in Frisco, Breckenridge, or Dillon. But I see that Keystone is the closest town…
I will be sharing an airbnb rental apartment with 2 friends and we want to stay in an area that offers a cheap/reasonable priced rental place, and a fun nightlife (preferably kinda inexpensive).
We will have a car to travel, and driving an hour (or more) per day to get to A Basin is not a problem.
Where would you all recommend we stay? Thanks!

Silverthorne/Dillon has more night life outside the resort than Keystone has in the resort... plus Breckenridge is just down the road wtih a great downtown area. I'd recommend you stay in Silverthorne/Dillon area.
