Now that American Crime Story Season 2 has wrapped up, we’re wondering what became of our favorite character (no, definitely not Andrew Cunanan) — Antonio D’Amico.

Ricky Martin portrays Antonio D’Amico in American Crime Story Season 2. And like most characters in the series, D’Amico is a real person, he is based on Gianni Versace’s real life longtime partner of the same name. Fans are extremely disappointed the series didn’t focus more on D’Amico (or even Versace, whose name is the title of the show). We would have loved to learn more about D’Amico and his story during and after Gianni Versace.

Instead, The Assassination of Gianni Versace follows serial killer Andrew Cunanan, who does not deserve the attention. But now that it’s over, we all want to know what Antonio D’Amico has been up to! Is he still alive? Did he really attempt to commit suicide? Here’s what we found out…

More from FX

Rest assured, everyone, Antonio D’Amico is alive and well! He currently, lives in Italy with his new partner, and away from the spotlight. However, happiness did not come easy after the untimely death of his partner of 15 years, Versace.

Just as the series portrays, D’Amico was left crushed, empty, and alone after Versace was killed. He sank into a state of deep depression, telling The Guardian, “I was in a nightmare, I felt nothing and gave no importance to anything… the house, the money… because it felt false to have expectations of life.” Did he try to take his life? D’Amico does not say.

D’Amico does share with the source, though, that he found love again in 2005 and the two live a simple life in Italy. “…today, I am a different person. The world continues to go around… You can look back at the past until a certain point, [but] then you need to look ahead to the future,” he tells the source. (Read the entire interview here)

D’Amico lives a very private life and has his own fashion line. Unfortunately, we searched and searched but were not able to find his website or any information on his clothes. The video below (and a few others if you click on it) is all that was found. There’s also this Facebook page: Antonio D’Amico Golf, but it doesn’t provide any links or details.

According to the source, it’s also true that Gianni Versace left D’Amico a monthly pension of, reportedly, $30,000, and the right to live in any of the homes. However, the finances and homes “technically” belong to the Versace company aka Donatella and her older brother, Santo, so D’Amico was only given a portion of the money in one payment and was denied the right to live in the residencies.

The third season of American Crime Story will follow the disaster of Hurricane Katrina.

The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story airs its final episode on Wednesday, March 21.
