Tens of thousands of people representing hundreds of tribes are expected to celebrate the fortieth Gathering of Nations. The Miss Indian World pageant will take place Thursday evening, featuring 27 contestants. The more than two dozen women competing come from Canada and across the United States.The next Miss Indian World will spend the next year traveling globally to promote cultural awareness and diversity, along with the Gathering of Nation's Pow Pow. There will be more than 800 Native artists and traders displaying art and making some available for purchase.The four-decade celebration will see the return of its stage 49; a music stage that will play music on Friday and Saturday. Expo NM is located on Louisiana Blvd. between Lomas & Central Ave. If you are exiting from Interstate 40 (I-40), exit at Louisiana Blvd. heading South.
