*Spoilers for Never Have I Ever season 2 below!*
This just in — Never Have I Ever season 2 is *finally* out and I am feeling every single emotion. The hit YA series created by Mindy Kaling and Lang Fisher follows Indian-American teen Devi Vishwakumar as she navigates high school, relationship drama, and the death of her father.
In season 2, she's caught in the midst of a love triangle between her crush Paxton Hall-Yoshida and former nemesis, Ben Gross. There are also a ton of new characters this season, including Eleanor's new love interest, Malcolm, and new girl Aneesa (played by Atypical's Megan Suri). As you begin to dive into the new storylines of Never Have I Ever, you may be wondering who Aneesa is and why she's introduced this season. Here's everything you need to know about the new girl at Sherman Oaks High.
She's Indian, Just Like Devi
In the season 2 trailer of Never Have I Ever, we see Aneesa introduce herself to the class with swaggering confidence. She also bonds with Devi's English teacher, Mr. Kulkarni, and impresses Devi's mom and grandma with her manners.
She's a Soccer Player
Upon first meeting Aneesa, Mr. Kulkarni compliments her skills on the soccer field. "I saw you at the state finals last year. Girl, you're like a little Megan Rapinoe," he said before asking her to join Sherman Oaks' team, which he coaches. She also shared that she plays defense while introducing herself to her first class of the day.
She Transferred to Sherman Oaks From a Private School
While Aneesa's hanging at Devi's house for a sleepover with Eleanor, Devi asks why she left her Toluca Prep to "go to a dump like Sherman Oaks." Aneesa not only responds by saying that she thinks Sherman Oaks is cool but opens up about the drama that tends to go down with "rich private school girls."
She and Devi Got Off On The Wrong Foot
Devi seemed really irritated — and dare I say threatened — by Aneesa when she first got to Sherman Oaks. She felt that Aneesa was the cool new girl who was stealing her friends, boyfriend(s), and even her own family. However, it wasn't till later that the girls bonded over their similarities and upbringings.
Season 2 of Never Have I Ever is now available to stream on Netflix with subscriptions starting at $8.99 per month.
