André Lauren Benjamin (born May 27, 1975; age 48), also known by his stage name André 3000, played Robert Huggins, is an American rapper and actor best known for being a part of the hip-hop duo Outkast. He played the owner of a comic book store turned into mayoral candidate during Season 3 and Season 7 of The Shield.
Biography and career[]
Benjamin was born in Atlanta, Georgia, to a single mother. He attended Sarah Smith Elementary School, Sutton Middle School, Northside High School, and Tri-Cities High School. During high school, Benjamn met Antwan Patton (known as "Big Boi"), and they teamed up to form Outkast. The duo released six albums from 1994 to 2006, earning numerous awards during that time.
In 2003, Benjamin started acting in the feature film Hollywood Homicide. Through his acting career, he has appeared in other films like Be Cool, Four Brothers, Charlotte's Web, Scary Movie 4, Fracture, and High Life. Benjamin has also appeared in TV shows like Class of 3000, American Crime, and Dispatches from Elsewhere.
Benjamin has a son named Seven, with his ex-girlfriend, Erykah Badu.
