During his school days, Benjamin teamed up with Antwan Patton to form a rap duo group called The Outkast. They used to perform in parking lots, malls, and pubs to advertise their songs.
After graduation, they signed a record deal with L.A. Reid, a co-founder of LaFace label for their debut album, Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik, released in 1994. It achieved commercial success. Their leading single “Player’s Ball” was a huge hit and was on everyone’s lips those days.
