Full name Ami Bryan Brown was born on August 28, 1963, in Texas, U.S. Ami grew up in her hometown with her elder sibling  Les Branson. There is not much information about her childhood and upbringing. If her words are anything to go by Ami grew up in an abusive family. Eugene Branson and Earlene Branson are her father and mother.

An early bloomer Ami left the house in her teenage year and got married at the age of fifteen.

Love at first sight and marriage: Ami Brown married to Billy Brown

Ami and her late husband Billy Brown met way back in 1979. According to Billy’s memoir “One Wave At a Time” the two fell in love at first sight. He described her as a beautiful young woman that he ever met. Billy, 26 and Ami, a young 15 walk down the aisle on June 16, 1979. Before this marriage, Billy was married to Brenda. After five years and two children, Billy separated from his first wife.

After marriage, Billy ran a small plumbing business in Texas. However, Billy was not content with his every day 9 to 5 work. Ami herself a pioneer minded felt the same urge and agreed to look for something new. The couple traveled across the United States in a family truck. Later to fund the travel to Alaska the couple sold their vehicle and other equipment. Things did not go well in their first two years. Financially strived Bill had to work labor jobs in order to sustain the family. The couple even got stranded in a trapper sack for 18 months on Mosman Island. What does not kill you makes you stronger, once rescued and returned to the port they had a new sense of understanding towards the wilderness and surviving in Alaska. Despite the scare, the couple chose to stay in Alaska.

Over the years Ami and husband Billy lived in different places of Alaska which includes Haines, Juneau, Hoonah, Wrangell, and Chicago Island. Ami underwent two rounds of chemo at UCLA medical center. She had a positive response from the second chemo clearing the masses from her lung. According to the investigation manager, they were out of Alaska for more than 180 days a year between October 2009 and August 2012. Billy and Bam Bam took a plea deal to protect matriarch Ami and other siblings. Father and son spent 30 days under house arrest with ankle monitoring and 40 hours of community service.
