ROBERT CAMILLE PAPIN

Robert Camille Papin of Black River, Michigan passed away quietly at his beloved farmhouse on Aug. 30, 2021 at the age of 78. Bob was born to Betty (Bromund) and Camille Papin on April 9, 1943 in Bay City, Michigan. He graduated from Alcona High School then Michigan State University. Bob went on to use his education in many business ventures including dairy farming (Valley View Farms and Farm Fresh Dairy) and property development. He especially enjoyed his hobby farm into his retirement. Bob also had a passion for landscaping; his beautiful flower gardens were remarkable. Bob’s enormous work ethic allowed him to employ and guide numerous people along his journey. He will be missed by many.

GUARDEN JOSEPH ‘JOE’ SMITH

Guarden Joseph ‘Joe’ Smith, 79, of Herron passed away Thursday, Sept. 2, 2021, at MidMichigan Medical Center – Alpena. Joe was born on June 24, 1942, in Engadine, Michigan to the late Theodore and Mary (Slater) Smith. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. On July 31, 1967, he married Vergeline Pearl Ranger. Joe is retired from Besser. He was a member of the Alpena VFW Post 2496, Snowmobile Club, and Besser Museum.

God called His angel, RoseMary Jackowiak, 77, home on Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2021, at St. Mary’s of Michigan in Saginaw. RoseMary DeCaire was born the tenth of fifteen children to the late Leonard “Bunny” and Florence (Kennedy) DeCaire on March 24, 1944, in Alpena. She attended St. Anne Church and school and graduated from Catholic Central High School. Her early ambition was to be a stewardess then she developed a fear of flying. On August 15, 1969, she married John Jackowiak. She found her true passion when a friend hired her as the activity’s director for Pierce’s Nursing Home. She devoted her energy to the residents and others that suffered with the ravages of Alzheimer’s Disease, for the rest of her life.

Doris E. Peterson, 90, of Alpena passed away Monday, Aug. 23, 2021, at MidMichigan Medical Center-Alpena. Doris E. Nitscher was born on Feb. 8, 1931, in Alpena to the late Ervin and Matilda (Paad) Nitscher. She was a lifelong resident, and married Warren Peterson on July 16, 1949. Together they raised a very loving family of six children. He preceded her in death on Dec. 25, 2008. Doris loved where she lived, overlooking Lake Huron on property that her grandparents, Michael & Anna Paad, donated years ago that is now known as Mich-e-ke-wis.
