McCoist's other mistress

The wife of former soccer star Ally McCoist faced more heartache yesterday as fresh revelations suggested her wayward husband had been seeing a second mistress.

McCoist, now a TV football pundit, admitted last week he had been 'a complete fool' for having a fling with actress Patsy Kensit.

It emerged yesterday, however, that he had also secretly been seeing an air stewardess.

Donna Giblin, a 28-year-old former British Airways employee from Stockport, last night confirmed she had been having a two-and-a-half-year affair with the former Scotland international.

It began after she asked the father of three for his autograph at Manchester airport.

She revealed how he had often told her he loved her and said he had called her in the past few days - at a time when he was reportedly struggling to repair his marriage.

She also claimed McCoist at one stage told her he believed his own wife was having an affair.

Miss Giblin, the single mother of a son, said she had been completely unaware of McCoist's relationship with Miss Kensit and said news of it had hurt her deeply.

'I still can't believe it. It hurts so much,' she said. 'All he could say was "I'm sorry you had to find out about Patsy like thisî.

'His affair with Patsy got leaked to the papers - I suspect by her friends. Ally and I had promised we would never have any secrets from each other and I believed him. I took him at his word and never doubted it.

'I don't know if Patsy knew about me but I certainly didn't know about her. I know people will laugh at me now, but he said I was the only one.

'I never thought he was a lady's man. He was so sincere. It makes me shiver to think he said he loved me and didn't mean it.'

McCoist's wife Allison last night continued to stand by him at the family home in Renfrewshire.

The couple - who pointedly appeared together at a film premiere on Saturday night - have three sons and it is believed she is desperate to save their marriage.

McCoist - who was notably absent from his usual seat on ITV's Saturday football show The Premiership - last night tried to play down the revelations of a second affair.

In a terse response to waiting reporters, he said: 'My wife and I are not looking at the past, we are only looking at the future. I have no further comment to make about anything that has been in the papers.'

His 36-year-old wife, who has dyed her hair blonde, refused to comment directly on revelations of the second affair.

But friends said she had vowed the couple would salvage their troubled marriage.

The depth of her determination was revealed in an emotional letter she initially planned to release as a statement after news broke of her husband's affair with three-times-married Miss Kensit.

In the letter she said: 'We've been through so much, but always together. Our children, families and friends believe in us and we owe it to them to carry on. Their strength is beyond belief. Crisis? This is no crisis.

'A crisis is going through every emotion imaginable watching time after time as our son Mitchell has gone through life-threatening surgery.

'If we survived that, we'll survive anything.'

The couple have endured years of uncertainty after their three-year on son Mitchell - one of twins - was born with a heart defect, leaving him needing regular surgery and hospital treatment.

However, the note was written prior to yesterday's revelations of the affair with Miss Giblin. And it remains to be seen what impact the air hostess's comments will have on Mrs McCoist.
