Rangers icon Ally McCoist paid Parklea a visit after his son signed for a local side.

Argyll McCoist, son of the legendary goalscorer, made his debut for Port Glasgow Juniors during last Saturday's clash against Irvine Victoria FC following a successful trial spell at the club.

Port manager Stevie Wilson said he'd had Argyll on his radar for some time and that he was delighted to make the move official.

Glasgow Times:

Argyll's proud dad could be seen cheering him on from the touchlines during the weekend's game, which ended in a 3-1 defeat for the Undertakers.

The 24-year-old forward netted five goals during his three games on trial for his new club, drawing comparisons to his father's prolific scoring record.

Manager Stevie said that he was thrilled to have the former Yoker Athletic and Harmony Row forward on board.

Glasgow Times:

He told our sister title The Greenock Telegraph: "Argyll's scored five goals in three games for us so far, which is a good return.

"He's really enjoyed playing and seemed really keen to sign.

"He was out for close to a year with injury so it's good to see him back playing.

"I had tried to get him before his injury and I knew about him as a kid.

"He scored a hat-trick for us in his first game and continued scoring throughout his time as a trialist.

"Ally's already been down a few times as well.

"He's a gentleman and it's been brilliant having him around the club.

"Argyll's a talented player and a great striker like his dad.

"If you ever listen to his dad describe scoring goals he always talks about staying at the back post and it's something I've seen Argyll do a few times for us now.

"We're not just signing him because of he's Ally McCoist's son, he's definitely got the ability.

"I'm excited to see what the future holds for him here with us."
