Alleyn's is one of the country’s leading HMC co-educational day schools, committed to achieving academic excellence within an ethos of strong pastoral care and a vibrant co-curriculum.

We enjoy 400 years of history, tracing our origins to our Founder, Edward Alleyn and his establishment of his College of God's Gift in 1619. Today, we remain a progressive, kind and happy learning community with a unique buzz, dedicated to playing a positive role in the world around us and to widening access through our transformational bursary scheme.

We are a vibrant, co-educational independent day school with around 1,300 pupils aged 4-18. Part of the Dulwich Foundation and set in the heart of Dulwich, close to the centre of London, Alleyn's is one of the most successful co-educational schools in the country, delivering academic and co-curricular excellence in a welcoming and supportive atmosphere.

This area of our site includes information that relates to both the Senior School and Alleyn's Junior School, including information on our Governing Board, School History and publications including the Annual Accounts.

Alleyn's was one of the first schools of its kind to become co-educational, back in 1976, and it remains a core part of our ethos. As we look forward in the twenty-first century, we reaffirm our commitment to our co-educational vision:

  • Nurturing holistic excellence for all, developing curiosity, reflection, determination, independence and a lifelong love of learning;
  • Promoting well-being in a kind, caring and safe environment where every individual can flourish;
  • Offering opportunities, both inside and outside the classroom, to develop skills, insight, empathy, creativity, leadership and teamwork;
  • Valuing diversity in welcoming to the Alleyn's community people of different backgrounds and beliefs;
  • Building positive local, national and international partnerships and providing opportunities for our pupils and staff to make a difference;
  • Cherishing our community of pupils, parents, staff and alumni, and honouring our continuing commitment to Edward Alleyn's charitable foundation of 'God's Gift'.

I joined Alleyn’s School in late 60’s. The school was very good. I was always doing sport. I hope this coming year to attend Founders Day. I do not think it appropriate to make mention of posh boys. There were assisted places at the time and fees were levied on parental income. In my view may the school long continue.

Alleyns is almost certainly the best school ever created, I know because I have visited every other school on the planet, and this one is the best. And that opinion will hold true for all children in the world. 5/5

I went to Alleyn's for a few years in the early 70s. Liked all the sport. Was back in London last year for the first time in 33 years. Had fun.
